View Full Version : Saturday's all-anime once again!

I don't think this has been mentioned yet, but next Saturday my satellite listings say that Venture and Stroker will be taken off Saturdays and replaced with back-to-back rerun episodes of the new Inuyashas. Venture will be shown on Sundays at 12:30.
I guess since Venture Bros. and Stroker & Hoop weren't pulling any better ratings than anime on Saturdays, and since they seem to consider Saturdays a lost cause now anyway, they finally decided to just go ahead and do what they want, going back to the all-anime Saturday they originally intended.
Yay for anime.

Don't get too excited.
They'll change it back a month or two later.
It's inevitable.

What? Well if it's true then that gives me a free hour to go write or something. Inuyasha fell off two thousand episodes ago.

Ugh, just stop it AS, you've already proved that it won't work. (especially not with two InuYAsha reruns.)

It's not like comedy is working in that slot either. I'm glad to see them still trying myself!

With an hour of Inuyasha reruns(it'd be alright if it was starting from the begining, at least)?
Lupin and Scryed need a home, while Inuyasha already is on the air. FLCL could also be put on again, and if they still have that(they did a month ago, at least), they should still have Blue Gender since they got it at the same time.
There are so many other shows that they could put in that slot aside from Double Inuyasha.

Inu Yasha generally seems to be more popular than the rest of those shows. (except mayber FLCL, but that was just run a lot recently and only has 6 episodes).

Man, why does Venture Bros. have to get the boot? I seriously hope Adult Swim gives up Saturdays once weekdays expand to 10PM in a couple of months. They just can't do anything with it no matter what they try.

Here's a wild shot, but maybe if Cartoon Network was to acquire the rights to Air Gundam Seed Destiny(even though I am collecting the DVDs), maybe Adult Swim @ 11PM would be the best spot for it after when happend when Gundam Seed vanished off of Toonami and had that 1 am time slot on Saturday morning. But I doubt this will happen at all, it just as likely as Adult Swim picking up more episodes of Lupin the 3rd or Case Closed. Just throwing a wild Idea out there since stranger things have happened.

According to CartoonNetwork.com's schedule, Stroker and Hoop and The Venture Brothers are still on for at least another two weeks. That's fine with me because I didn't get to see the Season (and unfortunately Series) Finale of Stroker and Hoop the first time around. (The darn cable went out that night.) Your satellite might be right, but I hope we get to see Putting the Ass in Assassin before Saturday becomes completely anime again.
Honestly, I would love an hour of Inu-Yasha. I still have some of Season Five to see, so I hope they would start at episode 100 or 101.

Agreed. So FMA ends tonight, double IY...ergh, I wish they'd have better shows to replace first hour, like say Champloo. I haven't watched it since it moved to Wednesday in Janurary.
Or better yet, bring back an older show if it's liscence hasn't ran out, like say Paranoia Agent?

They need to just use Saturday night as a night to put bizzare obscure anime on, the kind that most cult fanboys would vaguely know.

You had a free hour anyway. They were just airing reruns in that hour. Unless you like watching reruns or something...
You know, actually, I haven't seen the series finale of Stroker and Hoop yet either. Oh well, not like I really care that much.
So, what will they air in Full Metal Alchemist's spot when that ends? Are they just going to air reruns?

I just laughed at the bizzareness of the Orange County raid on the faux Disney in the recent Venture Bros. And I'll have Stroker & Hoop on in the background. So AS atleast has my attention somewhat right now during the first hour.

Actually, Lupin is one of their highest rated animes. It was getting really good ratings on it's latest run on weeknights. It didn't beat Inuyasha but it beat the hell out of shows like s-CRY-ed.

AS really don't care anymore about saturday do they? hopefully VB can get a sunday spot to finish up the season before the new one premieres but thats a few months away so they can take their time on it I guess :(

Looks like filler for an eventual Toonami expansion into that hour. And because Venture isn't holding Toonami back then they could expand on the 13th of May when IGPX comes back rather than have to wait another week.

This schedule move certainly doesn't hurt our crazy theory. Inu Yasha is probably about the best transition show that they could put into that slot if they some how do have plans to make that hour (or farther) Toonami.

Indeed.
My guess is CN is just waiting until they can air something new at 11PM.
But consider this scenario... What if by chance Inuyasha's reruns do quite well at that time. Could put a damper on things... but hey at least Saturday would be all action again.

It does seem possible for a Toonami expansion if that's the case. I hope that's the case. That is unless the Inuyasha re-runs do well. We'll see where they go from here.

Yeah, either they pick up something new or just let Toonami have that timeslot. No one will care if Adult Swim starts on Midnight on Saturdays as opposed to 11.

Same here. I have to get up for work early on weekedays so I can't stay up late to watch anime and my vcr programmer doesn't work. So it would be nice to have it back on Saturday, I miss that show.

i doubt it, ithey're probably trying to hurry and rush Inuyasha out so they can put on some new shows. Bleach is most likely one of them

If they wanted to rush Inuyasha they'd air it semi-daily like they used to. They're just doing this to catch viewers up who missed it on weekdays and it probably wont last. Either comedy will return or Toonami will take over. There is a slight chance they'll move the IY premieres to Saturday if it's successful though.
Bleach wont be ready until at least Fall I imagine. They haven't started dubbing yet according to Viz (or so Pep tells me anyway).

Maybe Gundam SEED Destiny?
If AS gets something from Bandai, it'll likely start with an "E", and end with an "ureka 7". Maybe if AS had vision, they'd run something like, oh, Planetes, but I'm sure that ship has long since sailed. Definitely not anything Gundam at the very least though. Atleast if they aren't trying to commit ratings suicide in the target demographic.

I think he meant Destiny for Toonami. An yeah... that'd be my best guess. But that's only one slot. I could see them airing a Naruto encore in the other. That could probably help Adult Swim's ratings. If it starts at 12AM if Naruto airs again at 11PM or 11:30PM.

They're starting the back-to-back IY episodes with 127-128. At that rate, the Saturday reruns will catch up to the weeknight premieres by mid-May. So whatever AS does with the 11-12 hour on Saturdays will have to be decided before then. (^_*)

looks like Double Inyuasha will be over starting April 15th.
11:00 Inyuasha
11:30 Full Metal Alchemist
12:00 TBD
12:30 Ghost in the Shell
1:00 Neon Genesis Evangelion
1:30 Cowboy Bebop
This schedule from Adultswim.com I wonder what will be on at 12?

As for the TBD -- why not Paranoia Agent? I wouldn't rule out FLCL, either.

I swear, if they bring back FLCL AGAIN, I'm gonna kill a kitten.
You know what'd be good for that slot? Gundam SEED. But uncut this time (or at least somewhat edited, since the later episodes are really gory). I think the Adult Swim crowd would better appreciate the slow episodes and character development than the preteen Toonami audience did.

Seeing how Eureka 7 premieres April 14th on FNF, one can safely assume that it's going to be Eureka 7 at midnight.
