Racist Frankenstein. You know, I would think a Frankenstein would hate everyone equally. Guess not.

That. was. BRILLIANT! BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT!
I take back every unkind word I said about the pilot now that I see the concept can work past one episode. EVERYTHING.
Racist Frankenstein remains my favorite character still. His screams of racism always make me laugh. Especially when he annoys White Shadow with them.
And I never mentioned it the first time... but I love the voice acting in this show. Especially Dr.Wang's voice.
I think [AS] has a winner here!
5/5
Oh, and...favorite part: Jewcano (surrounded by villians with crosses): I always knew it would end this way!
When I watched the pilot way back when, I got 2/3 of the way there before I had to change the channel. I watched 2 minutes of this and I still couldn't get through it. Ergh.

Seriously. After the pilot I was perfectly willing to ignore this series. Unfortunately I read Daffy's post without noticing the author so I figured I'd give it a shot. That was 11 minutes 20 seconds completely wasted. Nothing remotely amusing. The only positive thing about the show is that it wasn't as purely terrible as the other recent WS abortions (12 Oz, Squid, PHF), so I guess that's a step in the right direction again?

Minoriteam will never beat Perfect Hair Forever or 12 Oz Mouse, IMO.
The one continued positive of this show is that it resembles the cut scenes from Freedom Force, a PC game you should have played at least once already.
Other than that...Adult Swim strikes out again.

Ironically, I don't see the AS fans complaining about this race oriented show as they did with Boondocks, as it's more subversive and goofy as opposed to thought provoking.

I found this generally, "ugh," provoking. The idea, and the idea alone, of Racist Frankenstein makes me laugh, but besides that I found nought amusing in this. I have no particular objections to the ostensibly racist material; the jokes just didn't make me laugh or provide a very enjoyable experience in general. I thought it was rather ugly too. I don't generally complain about limited animation (I'm one of those few, sad Tom Goes to the Mayor partisans, after all), but something about the way this series is put together really repels me.

I liked the pilot better myself, this episode just felt and even looked different, especially some of the characters like Nonstop. I did like the pairing of Fasto and Jewcano, though - and hopefully the rest of the shows are better.

Anyway, you know, in some ways I see a similarity between this and Venture Brothers. Both shows have some clever concepts, especially in terms of villains, but neither show is all that funny. Still though, Venture Brothers is twenty times better than this garbage.

Of course, whether the show actually debates issues or is just plain old racist itself is debatable. (by someone other than me, I never saw it)

It was moderately amusing and Racist Frankenstein was funny. But will Minoriteam still be funny a few weeks down the road, or will it be tired out? I think it'll become tiresome, as the same old jokes get beaten to death, and then beaten some more.
It's quite a contrast with Boondocks, which tackles racism in a sly fashion that makes me laugh at first, and then starts to disturb me in a manner that compels me to think about it. It's very adult in that respect. And it keeps me coming back. Minoriteam is a coarse lampoon of racism that's funny at first, but I think it'll become boring rather quickly.
And then there's the overall style. Boondocks looks polished and professional, even as it slips the needle in. Minoriteam looks crude and hurriedly done, even though I know it's done this way on purpose. Overall, I think Minoriteam will be like Stroker & Hoop, an idea that seems clever at first but fails to build a large-enough audience of AS viewers. (^_*)

It's called being absurd, try strapping it to a pickle and riding around on a moose some time.
*ahem*
I was just having fun with the tired old idea sometimes used by, well, idiots that if you dislike a particular genre or style that happens to be associated with a culture, then you're a racist. So given that this show, ostensibly, wants to subvert racial stereotypes by haviing us embrace and mock them, not something I mark it as very succesful at, it wants us, in an exagerrated and ridiculous way, to be racists, so therefore by not liking Minoriteam you are not a racist.
Well, that's nonsense, but I honestly wasn't expecting to be prompted to explain my post title. One of these days those thing are going to get me in trouble.

What?
All he is saying is Minoriteam is a concept people can dislike without being labled a racist. It bombards the viewers with common stereotypes, black people run fast, Asian people are super smart, etc and expects us to become attached to these "superheroes" despite the fact their very presense is a nod to behaviors that would offend most people in society. In other words the viewer buys into the stereotypes for the sake of enjoying the show. For that reason, not enjoying the concept would not lead someone to infer that the dislike is due to racism, in fact, one would logically infer that the opposite was the case. Or something like that.
Damnit Del. What have you done?
Also, Nimarmo stop replying with only "what?" as the content of your post.

Have you ever had to scoop after a dog on a cold day versus a hot day? Minoriteam is like having to scoop on a hot day. Maybe a show like 12oz. Mouse is like scooping on a cold day. Neither is desirable but at least one is easier to put in the bag before you throw it away. :ack:
I do like the Jack Kirby inspired artwork on Minoriteam. The whole look reminds me of the old Captain American comics and animated series from the sixties. But the idea, the jokes, and the stories have not been even remotely funny. More like, boring and stupid. Too bad they couldn't get the artists to work on a show with better scripts.

I honestly don't think it's all that funny, either. It's stuff I've seen on random sketch comedy shows, and other adult type web animations and the like. I think people are more quick to give it a pass because it's just being goofy, like I mentioned before. Being politically incorrect has, in itself, become a cliche. Now it's cool to not be P.C., but now that everyone is doing it, it's lost its edge.

Your point is well... pointless. If TV shows were like marriage, than my signature would be saying "I love Minoriteam and it's the only show I'll ever watch again!". If you date someone/ watch a show 2 times, you can say that you enjoy the person/show in public. Besides, the sig will probably change by the end of the week, so even if it were marriage, the divorce was fast as hell.

So WS decides that abysmal animation isn't enough, now we need abysmal animation and reverse racism?
Subversive? Pfeh! You know what would really be subversive? A TV program that flies in the face of the political correctness. Let's see a team of white superheroes battling bigoted minority supervillians. Now that would really push the envelope, wouldn't it? But nothing like that would ever make it on the air, because it would be condemned as racist, and the hissy fit Al Sharpton threw over it would make his Boondocks tantrum look like a Ritalin buzz by comparison. So instead, we'll pander to the self-appointed victim groups and reinforce all their paranoia about white people and call ourselves "cutting edge".

I've come to the conclusion that Minoriteam is the Ambiguously Gay Duo, but without the funny.

That's already been done in the past, you know. Hence the reason they don't do it now. Many villains have been stereotypical black/asian/latino types in the past. And what would bigoted minorities be able to do to white superheroes anyway? They've never been oppressed.

Anyways, I think this series will get better over time, after canceling Perfect Hair Foreever I need Bizarre on a regular baisis to make my life normal...or somthing, ilted axis or whatever, it's that same idea of thinking, only it applies to different things of value.
whatever....but why the hell is Dr. Wang in a wheelchair? Is it to spoof professor X or something?

I quite liked the pilot but this just wasn't very good. It was also obvious that this wasn't the first episode they produced. We were obviously supposed to know the characters a little better before this episode showed. There must have been a better episode to premeire with. If they actually picked this one out as the "best and funniest" episode to premeire with than it's really going to get dismally unfunny after this.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with the majority here. The idea may not be that original, but it's damn funny. The characters stereotypes are all great, and every little rascist detail is just perfect. I must ask what exactly you're looking for in a show here, because people on this board seem to have really high standards for comedy shows. Personally, I think it's great that this show is here. It's just one more small step in getting rid of political corectness. I'm glad we can mock people like Al Sharpton.

I'm glad. The sooner this damned reverse-PC fad is dead, dead, dead, the better. It's a good sign that only two posters in this thread seem to be hangers-on of that movement (yet of course they still think they're edgy, judging from their posts. Newsflash Skank, we've always been able to mock Al Sharpton. He's been a punchline ever since he jumped into the public spotlight wearing his signature oily perm and track-suit).

That's already been done in the past, you know.
Really? When?
Hence the reason they don't do it now.
No, the reason they don't do it now is because there are legions of crybabies who whine incessantly about the way "their people" are depicted, then form protests, organize boycotts, and throw high dudgeon tantrums until the TV networks and movie studios cave in and give them their way.
Many villains have been stereotypical black/asian/latino types in the past. And what would bigoted minorities be able to do to white superheroes anyway? They've never been oppressed.
Your point is...what?...that two wrongs make a right. Racism is racism, no matter what color face it wears...at least that's what you should believe if you are really interested in equality and not just placating malcontents. There have been plenty of English/German/Italian stereotype villians, too, but you don't hear them whining about it (okay, the Italians do, but only when it involves the Mafia).
Newsflash Skank, we've always been able to mock Al Sharpton. He's been a punchline ever since he jumped into the public spotlight wearing his signature oily perm and track-suit).
And yet, there are thousands of people all across the country who take that bloated demagogue very seriously, as you can tell by the crowds he gathers wherever he goes. He single-handedly caused riots, destroyed the reputations and livelihoods of many people, and exacerbated the racial tensions and anti-police paranoia in New York City on the word of an 11-year-old girl who turned out to be an attention-hogging pathological liar. We may mock him, but he's anything but a punchline.
Well if anything good will come of this series, I found one
My final project in one my classes is going to mimic the same animation style of talking still panels

It's actually a pretty old technique. Minoriteam just parodies the animation style of a series of cartoons made in the '60's featuring Marvel Comics heroes. The character images were just redrawn from original comic artwork (most of it from Jack Kirby, whose art style is also being spoofed.).

I generally doubt that political correctness was ever so much of a pernicious thing as it was. At worst, I can imagine that it was annoying, which is why I find rants, otherwise known as whining aggressively, against it tiresome, besides that I think that, like most expressions of anger, people enjoy hemming and hawing about it too much.
The analogy to the Germans and Italians doesn't really make much of a point to me. Both of those groups are now unimpeachably in the majority, or at least the Germans are, and that's the idea of to me, really. Minority groups can be finicky about racial matters because they quite understandably feel legitimately threatened. They are numerically and socially disadvantaged, thus far more vulnerable. It certainly does descend into silliness on more than a few occasions, but those occasions tend to win their due mockery on the own without crusaders against political correctness swooping down to make it okay to mock people. But at the end of the day, mocking ethnicities is a lot like mocking people magnified proportionally, and it stings a lot more when you mock the socially marginal people than the when you take a shot at the quarterback of the football team.
In any case, I don't really think Minoriteam really has much to do with it either way. It does aim for a goofy take, it just doesn't strike me as having done that well, which is what I think the objection generally is. For this show, racism is a red herring.
