If this is true, I'm not sure what to think. Alot of reports peg the guy as less than pleasent. If he does leave, I wonder how this will effect the Sonic series.

Even more characters up the bloody wazing.

And more Shadow games.

Or maybe the games will get better, because they sure as hell weren't up to the platforming quality set forth this generation from franchises like Jak, Ratchet, and Sly Cooper.

Agreed. I don't care what happens now with the Sonic series because it just wasn't going anywhere. IMO, he's been milked enough. The current gen games aren't exactly top notch, but the old games that rocked wouldn't be any good because of customers who want good graphics.
Sonic is dead and has been since the 90's. With the exception of perhaps Sonic Rush, which was still too easy.

Well it all depends on how the new game turns out.

Personally I'd be thrilled if the guys who do the GBA titles took over, those are just about perfect.

Are you kidding? Those were appauling! The second one especially. You could do every level just by holding the D-Pad in the right direction.

I'd imagine he and Sega would be able to work out some sort of deal. I mean, Naka pretty much MADE Sega what it is, and I doubt either of them are willing to give up Sonic. I doubt there would be much of a change.

The final nail on NiGHTS 2's coffin comes down. Maybe that'll shush the complaining fans.

But Sonic on the other hand...

The difference between olschool Sonic and newschool Sonic is that he's too fast now. It's physically impossible to react to oncoming enemies quickly enough now, where as in the old days you could jump and avoid/bounce off enemies. Again with Sonic Advance 2, you're always going so fast you barely see any badniks at all.
You say you can beat oldschool Sonic by holding down the right button? I'd love to see you try that with Sonic CD and Sonic 3.
Seriously though, you can actually beat Sonic Rush's first level (and maybe more after that) by closing your eyes and holding down the right button. Come on Sega! How is that challenging? Where are the creatively designed levels? No decent Sonic game since the Genesis.

Dimps!

Only thing is, i think they are better at 2D games than 3D....

I remember someone (I think it was some magazine review) was complaining that the new Sonic was too SLOW. Now you look at Game Informer's review of Sonic Riders...

Thought I'd bring that up...

Only too slow if you're playing as a character that doesn't have speed levels... And those suck anyway.

Well, he's being wasted at Sega, so I'm all for him going somewhere (or making a company) that uses his talents. He could buy the rights to Nights from Sega if he was that intent on making a sequel, or work out some other deal with them for that game/license.

Like his studio being the developer, while Sega is still the producer?

Am I the only one seeing a possibility of Yuji Naka forming his own development group... at Nintendo?

Shigeru Miyamoto and Yuji Naka are good friends, they both like creative games (Hell, Yuji is Sega's Miyamoto), and their combined might ALMOST got Sonic and Tails into Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Or a Zelda that allows you to play as non-link characters, or a 3D SMB2/DDP

or a Star Fox Armada II

Fail. Those are fictional scenarios, unlike the almost-happen-ario of mine.

Sonic and Tails ALMOST got in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Due to Yuji Naka and Shiggy Miyamoto's friendship, they talked about it, but the game was due to launch near the launch of the GCN, and adding additional characters would be too late in the game (past the coding, there'd probably be weeks of legal contracting and all).

Sort of. I was thinking more of a co-developer thing, or perhaps having Naka's group develop it and Sega publishes it.

...That's exactly what I meant.
