Here's a poll for everyone: what was the biggest mistake that Nickelodeon made in 2001?

Allow me to explain some of the options:

1st: "The Angry Beavers", one of Nick's best shows, just disappeared from the channel.

5th: In the wake of Sept. 11th (I presume), Nick pulled an "Invader Zim" episode from air. All it did was mention the FBI...in a warning on a videotape.

6th: "Rocko's Modern Life" and "Aaaah! Real Monsters" returned to the networks in the 6am hour. To some, this is a minor quibble, but for fans of the show who treasure sleep just as much, if not more, this is awful.

I didn't see an option for "EVERYTHING", so I just picked "OTHER".

I picked "Other" as in "All of the above". Everything that happened has been bad, it just keeps geting worse too.

Definitely when it turned into a MTV clone. I can't even watch the network anymore. I also agree with OVK, Nickelodeon made so many errors in the past two years, it's unbelievable. They're all into fads now.

While I agree that Nick made... well... a TON of bone-headed blunders last year, I want to personally point a finger of blame (guess which one... :p ) at Klasky-Csupo.
Those little blankety-blanks have thus far unleashed... Rugrats, the one show Nick is keeping in production, when it should have been put down when David Boyle passed away. Actually, it stank like day-old diadies for years before that, but it makes a handy point of reference (with apologies to the Boyle family...)
The Wild Thornberrys. If I never hear Eliza's neo-fascistic eco-babble again, it would still be too soon. And don't get me started on that blankety-blank Debbie...
Rocket Power. [Barf ON] Sorry, I retch just thinking of... [Barf ON again] Somebody get me a towel.
Aaand, Ginger. A toon named after the weakest of the Gilligan's Island Castaways, but with a character not nearly as developed as her namesake's.
Sigh... Is anyone at Nick even listening? Paging Albie Hecht... :(

I`d have to say all of those things too,but the pulled episode of zim and the jimmy neutron thing and pinky and the brain openings all irritate me the most

Not exactly "everything".....is there a vote for two or more?

Well, I'll put them here:

"We're Animaniacs...and the opening's been sacked!"

"We (rudely) interrupt this program to bring you Jimmy Neutron". That's what I put my vote under, because it just upsets me the most. I'm not exactly the biggest Rugrats fan, but when that stupid big-haired brat comes in and turns the entire screen yellow....

Okkay, all of them. :p

I voted for the yanking of "The Angry Beavers." That was a hilarious show. It mirrored my home life so eerily that started looking for cameras. I'm the elder, and what my sister does....pass the Ritalin! There were inside jokes everywhere. If you slowed down the submarine ep, you could see them plow through the Titanic and Jack and Rose's skeletons that were perched on the bow. I cheered for that one.

That was the only cartoon worth watching on Nick for me. It's still runnning in Britain, I believe. We got the fourth season, then they yanked it. Anybody know where to get a copy of the fifth season?

Nick is going for the money makers, like Rugrats. Anything aimed at an older set doesn't make as much. Little kids nag til they turn blue to see a 'rats movie. This bites. Majorly.

all of them contribute to nick's overall crappiness!

What about that whole Crimson Chin adventure they have going on Nick.com. I have this nagging feeling that they had to force the Fairly Odd parents staff into doing this.

Yeah, I thought I heard a whip cracking in the background of those Crimson Chin eps... The FO ep with the Chin was a LOT better than that dreck, even with Jay Leno.
Still, that's not nearly as bad as another "all-new" season of All That's warmed-over jokes or Linda "I used to be a real reporter... Really!" Ellerbee's shrill Nick News.

Nickelodian sucks now IMO...they lost all of the shows I used to watch (like Angry Beavers, Doug, Real Monsters, and Rocko). I haven't watched anything on that channel in forever...

Nick started to die out when Stick Stickley left. From then on out, things got worse and worse until we have the hulk that looms over cable today. There's too much Klasky-Csupo and the whole network is a drag. There's nothing for kids on it outside of Nick Jr., and everything is geared at the most irritating type of person in the unvierse: the teenager.

I had to go with other....no "all of the above" choice....

::kicks Nickelodeon for taking away Angry Beavers and screwing up Zim::

.......I'm still mad......

::uses a flamethrower on the studios for Jimmy Neutron and the crappy music videos::

Do I really have to pick only one? I suppose I'll vote the brutality done to the Animaniacs opening. Everytime I get a chance to watch it, I still cry in frustrative anger over what they done to it.

I said others because there is one thing is more worst then all of that stuff the primare of The Butt Ugly Martains.

Alaskanbullworm
01-06-2002, 09:45 PM
I also picked others for all of the above. I think the only thing that's keeping this network alive to teenagers is Spongebob and Invader Zim. Teenick is so stupid, that's not how we teenagers act. And their comedy and songs in Teenick is horrible. It would be great to have the old Nick back, but as they say, "All good things come to an end" and I guess that was a while ago.

i didnt see an all of the above option so i voted Other :D

Not only did they pull one Invader Zim episode, they pulled all the episodes yet to air in order to retool them. Stupid terrorists, stupid NICK...

Need proof? If any of you signed onto the NICK website in order to get the online trading cards you'd notice that they introduce a bunch of characters that were supposed to debut this season.

Alaskanbullworm

If only Invader Zim was on another channel, but what would be a good channel for it? Cartoon Network is too cartoony and NICK is too childish.

Unless CN had it something like Samurai Jack is or Justice League.

I just read that they will air that "FBI Warning" Invader Zim episode sometime in March with an all new season.

But that's the problem--it's not a new season, it's the one we were supposed to be watching in September! Now NICK can drag their feet with newer Zim episodes just like FOX does with Futurama--if you delay the new episodes long enough you'll have enough for a full season and won't have to spend more money!

How dare they deprive us of zim! I downloaded those "lost" episodes and i found nothing really offencive aside from

zim showing some potentail candy buyers a destroyed planet conquered by irkens becuase they didn't buy his candy

that and i found dib's performance in door to door a bit flat but that's just my opinion :p

Other. All the above.

Frankly, I hate that whole damn network, pulling the Beavers and hacking non-nick originated toons to do...something...dastardly. (Replace D with B in preceding word to gain better insight on my feelings)

------------RANT ALERT------------
*For those of you whom do not wish to read my Rant, here is some visual stimulation for you:http://www.engrish.com/images/recentdiscoveries/bear1.jpg

One thing that really bugged me though, and I don't want to come off as racist, is that it's a bit...ethnic. There's nothing wrong with that, but I mean, look: Brothers Garsomething, Tai-something or other, Keenan and Kel,My brother and me, (Old black sitcom. It was demeaning to humans on a whole instead of race though) Plus more which fail to pop into my head in the moment. Really, I'm NOT trying to be racist, but those shows are really stereotypical, pooly written, and just plain SUCK. Of course, so do all Nick shows now, excepting Zim. (You want good writing? Dark Harvest. Aw yeah) It's all about Fads, money, and cramming some dammed Retro-dexter rip off down the viewing public's throats. Same as [explitive deleted]rats. They push those Idiotic toddlers harder than Toonami pushes DBZ. That's Bad. I mean, look at the Pinky and the Brain and Animaniacs opening. How much more freaking advertising can you really put on your network about yourself? Don't even get me started on Rocket Power. That show...is without a doubt...the STUPIDIST thing human beings have ever developed in our history of Really stupid things. (Like digital watches) Ok, I'm done until someone else reminds me of something I hate on Nick. Ok, Done Ranting. Oh yeah, Kill Butt Ugly Martians. I think I'm done now. Down with Nick!

Empting Invader Zim for "The Wild Thornberries" and "Fairly Oddparents". Hell, Nick screwing around with Invader Zim in any format really bites the big one. I've seen the "FBI Warning of Doom" and "Door to Door" (the episodes that Nick cut from American TV), thanks to the Internet, and they're both hillarious. An excerpt from "FBI Warning" follows:

Zim: Computer! Give me information on the FBI!
Computer: The FBI is a Earthen law inforcment agency.
Zim: Continue.
Computer: No other data.
Zim: No other data! Can't you make an educated guess?
Computer: Ooooooookay... Founded in 1492 by...uh...Demons, the the FBI is a crack government agency that...I dunno...captures aliens?
Zim: I KNEW IT!!!!!!!

I voted the interupting the show for Jimmy Neutron, but not showing older Nicktoons (Rocko!!) and then bringing them back at 6 AM was just as bad.

ROCKO AT 5:30 WEEKDAYS OR DIE!!!

You'd think that they'd pull off any Invader Zim episodes with him wearing his "walk the dog" disguise. You know, the one with the long grey beard, coat, & hat? With how far the stick is pushed up Nicks butt, I figured they'd pull all of those off for THAT

OKAY!

First things first, ALL of them have very strong reasons. But there is ONE reason I hate more than anything else.

MTV CLONE.

Did you know during an HOUR of SpongeBob, I saw only TWO cartoons? Yes, two.

Because they showed worthless "teen sensation" songs to take up the other half hour. Gee, when there are already COMMERCIALS on other stations showing these songs. Whoa, great marketing! And you're alienating your primary source of income, the CARTOONS!

This move, I KNOW has alienated not only teens but also kids. Nick needs to realize that it can't keep hold of the teen generation (our generation) that got it where it was today, but to go on and meet the new one. And this is NOT the way to do it.

KingKoopa
01-13-2002, 10:50 PM
If they want the teen generation, all they need to do is get classic Nicktoons on a little block on Weekdays, even if its just random episodes from 8-8:30, it'll get watched.

I voted other for them causing the Butt Ugly Martians to exist, in addition to "all of the above". I mean, they show crap like that, yet they seem to delight in showing the best of their older shows(Rocko, etc.) at 6 in the freakin' morning! They give the Animaniacs the same treatment that they gave to Pinky and the Brain, as if the everyone watching wasn't tipped off to the fact they were watching Nickelodeon by the commercial that is shown right before pretty much EVERY show!

That, and the other stuff too!

I voted for messing w/Animaniacs....

I don't watch nick. Even in it's hey day I rarely watched nick.

as for the rants on it being an MTV clone....umm..it is. Same company. It's like ranting about CN being a TNT clone.

=O

How dare someone mess with animaniacs...
