View Full Version : Do you think Spawn: TAS will come to AS in the Fall?

Looking at Bird Boy's excellent TZ Spawn
website,(http://spawn.toonzone.net/tas/) it mentions how new episodes of the show will debut in the Fall of 2006. Do you think AS would pick this show up? I mean they can use TV-MA now and their standards are looser than three years ago. I think this and Hellboy: TAS would be a good way to kick start AS into making their own action shows in the future.

Doubt it, unless AS is willing to butcher it with editing.
If Afrosamurai is a hit, McFarlane will go to Spike TV.
If not, he'll go either HBO or CN.

Seriously, good luck to Afro Samurai. The condescending way Spike TV talks to its audience, the annoying packaging, the way the network thinks its audience is a bunch of cavemen who drool at boobs and wrestling, THE POPUPS WITH SOUND; I'll be amazed if Afro Samurai pulls a 1 share.
But you know what? IT'S FOR GUYS! Guys like to watch trucks! :)

Hey, I'm just pointing out a factor. Spike TV has the potential to establish itself as a home for original animation (something the Adult Party block failed so miserably at it won't be bought up again) if Afro is a success. If it's not, then CN is the only basic cable choice left.

TV-MA should make it possible. This is and Hellboy just might be able to save the sinking ship known as Saturday action night.

If it were possible, I'd have absolutely no problem with this situation. Adult Swim seems to be always increasing it's content, so just maybe.

I wouldn't use Evangelion as an example. Even at TVMA it's censored and Spawn is far more graphic with gory violence, full frontal nudity, foul language and religious references. For Spawn to air on Adult Swim it'd almost have to be a rating beyond TVMA.

But it probably won't be a kids' thing. I don't think that name will go over too well with the merchandising.

What if they did that on April 1st? Have a really big [adult swim] logo that took up 2x8 in. in the lower right corner during shows, with annoying pop ups that came on during the show and made sounds for 15 seconds, then have the most condesending bumpers with the most annoying voice all night, and only air Gigantor, Super Globtroters, The Gary Coleman Show & Super Milk Chan.

I had that thought in the back of my mind as well since Kalagain said CN was working on it with IDT and now we know why... Hellboy hits Toonami this year as two animated movies. I'd rather have a series but hey... these should be good.
And if Toonami can show Hellboy... There's no reason Adult Swim couldn't shown Spawn now.

Prepare for Heckboy. Or in the alternative, HFILboy.

However, at the same time I do wonder about the content, because if it's anything like the HBO series...AS wouldn't touch that beast.

Part of me wants it on Adult Swim so they could consider even more action originals, part of me wants it on HBO to remain uncut.
