Will this come back to CN anytime soon? I remember last watching it back in 2004, but then it was taken off.

Probably not. From my understanding it was sent off to Boomerang, and that means it isn't coming back. Well usually, Swat Kats came back, for a week anyway. Though now that CN has ordered shows specifically for the time slot that the show usually use to air, its doubtful. The only place they could put it in theory is if Friday action night returns.

It could, anything is possible considering Scooby Doo is still on the air after all of these years.

No. Cartoon Network doesn't care about classic cartoons anymore. In fact, it's getting to the point where they don't even care about contemporary cartoons anymore.

Scooby Doo was removed from the air, except the newest version, What's New Scooby Doo. It has just returned on air, most likely as filler, pending removal shortly at best. A pup named Scooby Doo is different, it's a much more recent cartoon and doesn't look that bad, and still pulls in the ratings.

FYI, the reason Looney Tunes aren't on CN is due to the fact that LT is owned by Warner Bros. instead of Turner Entertainment/Cartoon Network, and thus CN doesn't directly make money off merchandising of it. This astonishes me and also makes me curious. I mean Turner and WB are both owned by Time-Warner, so why can't there be more corperate synergy at Time-Warner? Also, CN has never been good at merchandising (although the PowerPuff Girls gots ton of merchandise, and other shows have got some, and there's some nifty stuff at Cartoon Network's online store, like a plushie of Bloo *teases and taunts J.B.*, but that's off-topic).
I just hope all LT and MM (and also the 1990's comedy shows from WBTV Animation) get a good home on United States television.

Probably because WB and Turner hate each other.

Actually the original Scooby cartoons are still on CN,they come on after the original Tom and Jerry. They still show Scooby and Tom and Jerry here, but I'm unsure about other places.

I really don't see any of the classic stuff returning any time soon. Not until Boomerang is gone, which I don't think it will for some time atleast....
Damn, Boomerang and its extremely short coverage/availability :D

The rights to air post-48 "Looney Tunes" ran out awhile ago (this is why Boomerang is only airing select ToonHeads and TCM has skipped many episodes of Cartoon Alley) and as things stand right now, it's doubtful any deal has been made. Warner Bros. could start shopping around a package of "Looney Tunes" to other networks. Though there is also the chance a deal is made and "Looney Tunes" could very well return to CN or more likley nothing changes and they are just restored on Boomerang.

I'm with one of our other members (please forgive me if he's been pulled) Danny DeCosta that WNSD would fit more with the modfern WB kids cartoon due to its use of the (WB Film editor Tregoweth Brown) "WB Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies" classic cartoon sound effects library, as opposed to the different, traiditonal, Hanna-Barbera Productions animation series sound effects library due (as Danny said) to Warner Bros.Television toons producing "What's New Scooby Doo"-the reportedly disapooiniting, SFX wise, Scooby Doo-themed "Arabain Nights", not to be copnfused with Hanna-Barbera's own 1969 Banana Splits series segment,. also used no Hanna-Barbera noises, just Wrners..a kind of turnabotu from Warner Bros.in the late 60s,when their live action and animaiton production used Hanna-Barbera effects..and many of THOSE originally were form MGM, UPA, Disney, Art "Gumby/Davey & Goliath", Clokey, AND BOB CLAMPETT, the co-creator of Porky Pig, Tweety,Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny and "Beany and Cecil" (except for his own Warner Bros."Beyooop",which STAYED at WB and never made it into his own producitons or elsehwere.;) !
I've heard a bit of "Scobby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed", by the way, using a few WB effects but Hanna-Barbera ones mostly were used. (I haven't broached that topic for ages, restricting the posts I've made to music and voice and mainting classic cartoon-related issues.)

As stated before, the only reason that Tom and Jerry and Scooby Doo air are the fact that they recieve ratings, and the fact that Cartoon Network execs seem to still really enjoy the shows. Also they still feel the Scooby Doo and T&J characters will identify with kids. I don't think they have that feeling with LT characters anymore (espically when the only closley related Looney Tunes show on is Baby Looney Tunes. And between that and Loonatics, I don't think CN nor KidsWB thinks very highly of showcasing any of the classic LT/Merry Meolodies legacy). So there is probably like a .00001% chance of CN airing the Looney Tunes show again. I believe you can still catch it on Boomerang, so unless you either got that or the DVDs, you're pretty much sunk when it comes to seeing Looney Tunes on again.

I think Scooby Doo has a lot more merchandise out than Looney Tunes, but I know they have more DVD's out. They don't want to loose their merchandising money. As for Tom and Jerry, shoot I'm beat.

Wait, why can't they show Looney Tunes on Kids WB? Time Warner owns that.

KWB EXEC: We've already got "Loonatics", a show that takes the best elements of the classic characters and retools them for the 2000s---thus, we don't need to air "Looney Tunes". Plus, we've got our air slots filled with Pokemon, Coconut Fred, and so forth. (Annoyed) Now are you going to spend $70 for one of the Looney Tunes DVD box sets or not?

No. As far as I'm conerned, CN wants to be rid of classic cartoons in order to air more of their newer shows. They are trying to be another Nickelodeon afterall, and that means to constantly show each current show 4-5 times a day and to show any "retro shows" at a minimum at most.

I think the Looney Tunes are done in CN. I really miss that show. At least there are DVDs.

Looney Tunes are still airing around the Europe and especially in France. CN still airs them for an hour everyday(I 'm watching right now) and on Saturday evening they show 3 hours of them. Also on Boomerang Bugs, Daffy and other characters have their own half hour blocks few times a day. What's best is that they show all the episodes (post 1948 included), so Looney Tunes are far from over.
