Eh I was just surving and I caught robotboy on this morning, and the boss or whatever called his workman a "jackass". It was pretty clear and I had the closed captions on as well, and it said jackass.
( aw ****, change the title, I said "Work" instead of word. Thanks Mr. Admin!

That doesn't sound right...
If he DID in fact say it, maybe they got away with it in the sense of "donkey" like the classic cartoon gag of a person turning into one for s few seconds and then going back. I really don't think that's the sort of humor on RobotBoy though.

Yep, I heard it, too. I had only seen Robotboy once before. I was flipping through the channels this morning and recognizing the show, stopped for a few minutes. Clearly, he called him a jackass. Not that I was offended or anything. I was just totally surprised this made it on Saturday morning.

"Jackass" really isn't much of a bad word, and I believe it was heard or seen in classic cartoons on the network.

Only time i can remember it was from that bugs bunny cartoon with that alien guy, and bugs bunny runs out the airplane and he turns into a donkey with the words "jackass" on it. I suppose since it wasnt necessarly a "kids cartoon" way back then, suprised they didnt censor it. But for a show made for kids and having the word jackass these days in it was really suprising.

Not my forum, I know, but the title has changed. Might wanna watch your language too, generally, when there's a bunch of **** it's because you've said something you shouldn't. :)

I dont think they its the first time. I remember one episode of Tom and Jerry where Tom turned into a donkey, and then word flashed. And this was prime time CN.

Robotboy is an import from France/Canada, isn't it? A lot of the Canadian animation tends to be a tad more risque with their programs geared towards the kiddies. Y7 is pushed to the limits in Canada.

The word "jack-ass" was also used in a Disney movie, Pinocchio ("Give a bad boy enough rope, and he'll soon make a jack-ass of himself!")

I was surprise when the word jack-ass was said. I thought "Oooooo CN's gonna get in trouble with the PTA...." but I also thought "This show was done in another country, so I wonder if they allow the word 'jack-ass' on their kids cartoons?"

It seems to be okay so long as you're clearly refering to a donkey.

I didn't watch the episode, so were they clearly referring to a donkey or not? Because maybe then I could see it passing. Otherwise that's just weird and WTFery.

"Jackass" was often used in Warner Brothers cartoons in the 40's and 50's. It has fallen out of common use these days, but it's quite suitable to use on Cartoon Network.

I've never heard anyone use the word "jackass" to refer to a butt.

If they really did say it I would not be surprised if it was edited out upon future airings becuase of this thread.

Or to somebody who did something dumb.
"What jackass left a whole gallon of ice cream in the car trunk?"

My dictionary defines "jackass" as:
A male ass or donkey
A foolish or stupid person

No, he didn't say it in reference to a donkey. He said it in place of a word like "idiot". That's what really made it stand out as far as I'm concerned. I would not have been surprised at all if it was Adult Swim but on Saturday morning during the kid's block? WTFery indeed!

Jackass isn't really considered a swearword because whe you call a stupid person that you are calling them a male donkey, but it does seem weird for Saturday morning shows. However if you replace "jack" with "dumb"...
Was the bump really necessary?

^No, not really. :anime:
Anyways, 'jackass' is one of those words which can be skated past the censors, provided that one explicitly implies that they're referring to a male donkey. The same way you can say 'dam' on kids' TV, as long as you're talking about a water barrier.
