Two Warriors with Dark, Tragic Pasts
Last time on YYH:
Kurama and Shigure fought in their match. It would seem Yoko would take over the tide of the match but Kurama had chosen to use his own power. Unleashing a demon plant he had planted a thousand years before, he managed to force Shigure to concede. Kurama had won but the match had taken its toll on him. The second round of the Demon World Tournament continues.
Episode summary courtesy of www.yuyuhakusho.com (http://www.yuyuhakusho.com)
In the next match of the tournament, Hiei steps into the ring of battle against his former ally, Mukuro. But Mukuro has already explored the horrors of Hiei’s past and knows his thirst for revenge. Will this give the bizarre, shackled fighter the advantage? As a last result Hiei prepares his ultimate weapon…the Dragon of the Darkness Flame!
Spoilers: If the episode has already aired you do not need to worry about using spoiler tags. If you must comment on episodes that have not yet aired you will need to use spoiler tags due to the number of people who have not seen the rest of the series. Also keep in mind that mods have to read these, they are people too and don't need to know about future details that could destroy their enjoyment of the episodes to come.
Kanius' Thoughts: My first ever talkback. As a Hiei fan, I just had to cover this one. I find his past dark and interesting. Anyway, enjoy the episode.

I don't believe that anything other than Mukuro's past was neccessary to edit. I really need to wake up to see these final episodes.

Mukuro's time and space splitter attack was pretty cool. 3 more episodes remain of the Spirit Detective files, i'll have to make sure to at least watch the last episode when it airs

So was Mukuro born with the messed up eye and the robotic limbs or did someone change her? All I can find on her profile was she was abbused (I would assume sexually) by a man and then she escaped.

I thought you had mentioned, at least I thought it was you, who said that she had done that to her own face. Since she despised that she was being "used" the way she was she messed herself up like that so the guy wouldn't want her anymore and then ran away.
As for the episode itself, I thought the thing about communicating with their fighting was pretty nice. Would have been nice to actually hear some voices in the background talking about their pasts as they were battling. I really didn't understand what they were "saying" when they were fighting each other though.

yay that was much better than Kurama's fight :) Hiei fist fighting was a nice surprise same with him losing but helping Mukuro :) how many episode left now and how does Yusuke's fight decide everything aren't there a couple more rounds left?

um, without looking for it i think there's three remaining (2 for yusuke's fight and the final episode). And yes with this being the early rounds and only two tournament episodes remaining, Yusuke's fight does ... eh sorta determine everything because ..... well you'll have to see. It's cool!

Yusuke's fight will determine if Yomi will be become the King of Demon World since no one else is as strong as him. You have to remember, Rabi, that this is not like the Dark Tournament. There are more things than simply winning.

What about Muroko?

Yusuke's fight influences the outcome of Mukuro's fight as well.

As far as I know, it's never mentioned in canon. All we know is that she wasn't born that way, but was like that when she ran away.
any edits other than Mukuro's past?
There were a couple of language edits other than her past, though that was left more or less in tact, IIRC.
Anyway, I've always liked this episode. I knew that Hiei wasn't trying to hit Mukuro, but her shackles, fairly soon and that was a nice touch. A sentimental gesture from Hiei, yay. I personally think those two make a good pair, so the ending was sweet :anime:

"Now you can leave your hatred in the past where it belongs. Now you don't have to be shackled to it anymore. There are things in the future that are worth living for. Both for you and for me."
Very powerful choice of words by Hiei. :anime:
This is one of my personal favorites (considering it was Hiei-focused and Mukuro. I'm a little biased here to 'shorty' since I enjoy writing him in my fanfictions). This was more than just winning as Malex pointed out. It provides good development for our favorite characters.
I give this episode a 4.8/5 (though the Hiei fanboy in me wants to give this a 5/5).

I don't think it's ever been explained though I haven't read all of the manga. I think she may have been (sexually and physically) abused and caused her to mess herself up. I'll have to confirm that with a friend who has read the entire manga and is an avid fan.
It don't mind who Hiei ends up with but him and Mukuro make a nice couple indeed. It was nice to see the sentimental side from the fire chibi. ;)
Good episode. Down to the final three. Yomi vs Yusuke is next!

She threw acid onto her face so that the guy would stop sexually abusing her.

You know I can't believe I forgot that's what it was. But I sorta had it. Sorta. But props to Cloud5543 for knowing that one. Again I have been put in my place like a dog. Alright that's enough feeling sorry for myself.
Now as for the next ep I believe this one will be a good one since they will actually fight for more than one episode. Meaning they will not have much to talk about since they will be trying to kick their asses.

Oh there is still stuff to talk about...
In fact it's the episode after this one that's morley about Yusuke and Yomi fighting. The next ep's more about Yusuke finally finding his personal reason to fight Yomi and Yomi going through a couple changes as well.
I always liked this episode as well. The "shackle" metaphor is hard to describe if you haven't seen the episode (my friend who watched the episodes before me tried to describe it but I didn't really get it till I saw it) but I thought it was a nice gesture of Hiet to help out Mukuro. Although to be fair he couldn't of even beated her anyway if they were both really trying. Still, a nice fight though.
