This little gem slipped under the radar for the gaming community. In fact I'm shocked it did when Onimusha is a popular franchise like DMC or Resident Evil. Yet it's my favorite game I've played this year. The replay value alone should be very high. The reason being is there are a ton of weapons and items you can unlock and upgrade. Not only that, but the stats of each player. Plus once you beat the game, co-op mode will be a real blast.

Something else I found really unique about this game was it didn't start off with a history lesson and go "This is such and such this is what they're everyday life is. Now they have to fight a demon". Instead they stick you right in the middle of the action and the lead character Hideyasu is hardcore. Watch the opening intro and the first boss battle to catch what I mean.

The co-op for single player is fantastic. I've only come across the female Juebi Yagu so far, but tag teaming enemies in this game is far superior to a majorty of titles out there. The reason being is the AI for your support. It does what you tell them to do. I'm serious. You can have them follow you and they do it. Not only that, but they won't attack an enemy until you do or you are in danger of being hit. Or you can have them distract the enemy and yes your enemies will follow them over you. Or they can go nuts and kill the closest thing to them. Of coruse you can switch back and forth between them to get around certain areas or level up.

The greatest thing of all is the unlockable costumes. Get this, Street Fighter outfits!! :D:D:D

I was planning on getting this

but considering what else is coming out this month, I decided to put this on backburner in terms of priority purchase

but now the Street Fighter Costumes, I now wish to see this in full glory...

Coincidentally I bought Onimusha 3 for $5 this week.

I'd buy this game, but I've prioritized my game list for the month with MGS 3: Subsistence and Kingdom Hearts II.

It seems like a great rebirth of the Onimusha franchise, but I can't justify buying a game of it's type for any more than $20. I am in the camp that waits for a price cut.

You buy now! NOW!!

I've found a huge downside for the game. Levels you can replay purposly block of areas to get items you needed to get with a new character's ability. Like a grappling hook or dynamite. So either way you'll never get them until you repeat the game altogether.

Is the gameplay more than 20-24 hours like IGN.com stated!?

So far I'm about 10 hours into it and I've only finished 6 stages. The main reason is because I'm trying to level up everyone, find every weapon, and level them up. Even so the game looks really long and the ammount of items and weapons to find and upgrade is insane. I'm scared about how long the 2nd disk will be since I haven't touched that yet. It might be like RE4 where it goes twice as long.

As for that comment I made earlier, it's only occurs in the first couple of levels you can replay. Everything else I can bypass by switching between different partners.

Sorry for bumping this, but I finally got a chance to play it. I like it quite a bit, what with the extra characters, customization, and the like. Too bad I think it's at times freaking hard. In fact, it can be even harder than the last few Onimusha games if you're not careful.

But I still like it. Jaspanishese boxers and all.

Well I finished this at a whopping 38 hours long ago. Everyone was close to lvl 100, but even then it was far too hard to get far in the Dark Realm. I could get to about level 36 before I'd get creamed.

Holy bejesus. That's a lot of hours for a game like this. Normally it'd be about 6 to 12 hours for the last three. But wow, at least I can take comfort that I'm not the only one getting creamed by this game.

This looks like a good title, but I'm going to wait for it to drop to a real low price like most of the other Onimushas tend to. Don't get me wrong though, I have played the first 3 Onimushas and love them!

Yeah even Oni magic won't save your ass when you level up in the Dark Realm. You've got monsters that are shooting machine guns at you on one end and about 100 of these monsters that cast spells to freeze you and steal your magic. My characters could demolish any regular enemy in the normal game, but these guys are something fierce. As a side note, Tenkai's infinity attack where he spins his weapon around his head is a real life saver. :)

I'm thinking about picking this title up again and finish every other weapon I don't have and level up to maxium proportions.

I have gotten the game awhile ago and I must say I am impressed in the story. and the way the game plays over the 3rd onimusha. I'm no impressed they took out switching the weapon technique to get another gauge of onimagic. All weapons now use the same gauge. But that isn't that bad. the cinamatics are great,The battles are great, the graphics are about the same of numbah 3. The good ol analog stick control is back from numbar 3. (curse you number 1, and 2 with the D pad control:mad:) With that all said I don't think it is a must buy,but you should buy it. It is worth much more than a single rent. 8.5/10 from me.
