Huh.
I can't express my feelings for this more clearer than that.

So they want to make watching Star Trek like going on the Internet, complete with annoying popups and immature chatters?
:ack:
Basically, it's "Pop-up Video" (Is that still on?) for Star Trek. -_-'

Sounds like it. Although I doubt it will be half as great as "Pop-Up Video."

While I wish they'd just change the name of the channel and choose and identity.... this is a cool idea.
It'd make watching old reruns actually worth it.

Honestly I think this is pretty lame. So not only is G4 doing something stupid. They're doing something stupid to a cult classic that's already been through enough crap in it's life. But whatever... G4 is dead to me and I'm not a Trekkie.

Just change your name already G4.
The last thing I want to do while watching Star Trek is to have random popups and scrolling chat logs annoying me. Once again I'm glad my cable company doesn't carry G4.
And the first captain of the Enterprise was Robert April, not Christopher Pike. [/fanboy]

For those people complaining about the "pop-up" information feature for Star Trek 2.0, let me remind you that back before G4 merged with Tech TV, Tech TV provided a running "trivia" track when it aired Thunderbirds.

For those people complaining about the "pop-up" information feature for Star Trek 2.0, let me remind you that back before G4 merged with Tech TV, Tech TV provided a running "trivia" track when it aired Thunderbirds.Ah, but TechTV was a creative network that aired a decent variety of programming all of which was relevant to the network's theme, and was run by genuine people. And G4 is, just... not. On all those accounts.
Therefore, the exact same actions are going to be deemed good or bad actions based upon the integrity of the network, and rightfully so.
That being said, I don't see what's wrong with this... in fact, it's rather cool considering they'll be showing the episodes uncut on the weekend.
It's hard for me to objectively judge this, of course, because I truly hate Star Trek with a passion... but if G4 were doing the same with, say, any of the Gundam series, I'd be pretty excited about it.

I'm not a Trekkie, but I agree this idea is lame. I don't care if this happened during Thunderbirds on TechTV (TechTV shouldn't have even played that show) that still doesn't make it a good idea. Well I won't complain too much because 1.) The Channel has been dead to me for awhile (please change the name of G4), and 2.) I'm not a Star Trek fan really, so I don't care too much.
Hey you notice that 2.0 is on during.... X-Play's timeslot! <-Edit: Didn't know X-Play premieres are on earlier now, you may ignore this. :P

Any real Trekkie purists out there already have all the episodes on DVD anyway (and poor Trekkie purists have had ample opportunity to tape them), so really, who cares what they do? If a few silly gimmicks will get them some extra ratings, why begrudge them that?
But for the record, the "interactive" features and pop-up trivia sound kind of lame, but having a ticker every time a red shirt dies, etc. is effing brilliant. If I had cable, I'd consider tuning in for a bit just for that.
