I remember a lot of cartoons on ABC back in the 70's and 80's when ABC did a lot of Saturday Morning Health and Nutrition Public Service Announcements back in the 70's and 80's like The ABC Bod Squad, Time for Timer, The Chopper, Louis the Lifeguard and Zack of All Trades that I can still remember them all so does anyone remember a lot of ABC Saturday Morning Health and Nutrition Public Service Announcements back in the 70's and 80's because I want to know!

I definitely remember the Chopper.
"So take it from the Chopper, and the Chopper yeah that's me.
If you want to have great choppers, exercise your teeth."

I remember the Chopper! Was this segement the same one that had that song "Don't drown your food"? because that's been stuck in my head since early childhood. ;) And everyone used to make fun of me when it came on because I used to smother everything in ketchup.

I remember the Bod Squad and Time For Timer.
Timer, you might recall, was spun off from a pair of Afterschool Specials DePatie Freleng produced for ABC in the mid-70's. Len Weinrib was the voice of Timer for all the shorts as well as the Afterschool Special entries.
As for the others, shoot, I can't even come up with a vision of any of them, although I do remember "Don't Drown Your Food". However, I believe that tune was attached to a Bod Squad short.
These bits could still be used today, fitting in with the federal mandates.

No, that's Louis the Lifeguard.

I remember the one where the yellow guy compared cheese on a cracker to a wagon wheel. Yes, cartoonists smoked a bit of pot back in those days.

Aren't several of those pieces apart of "Bod Squad". I know it is probably "Nutty Gritty" that you are calling "Bod Squad" because that is the one that ends with them singing "Join the Bod Squad; Join the Bod Squad...". But all of those health pieces that were not Time for Timer I believe were Bod Squad, even if they didn't say it. (Sometimes the words appeared though).
There were also some sung by the Schoolhouse Rock vocalists (Dorough, Sheldon), such as "water is a drink that you can trust; no one's ever got cavities from us".

Oh yeah, I remember Louis the Lifeguard!
"I'm Louis the Lifeguard and I'm happy to say,
I rescued a drowning potato today!"
And the Chopper, who I realized later on in life was a caricature of The Fonz. Good times.:anime:

Gah, I remember those. It was like indoctrination for little kids. But it helped those of us who are now adults make decent choices about what we ate. With kids choosing junk food, schools trying to ban the stuff and obesity on the rise, maybe they ought to bring those things back.
I remember trying to make a "Saturdae" one time--it kind of tasted gross.
And I remember "Zach" the career guy as well.

They desperately need to release those shorts to DVD. I'd buy that collection. Maybe they could add the Saturday Morning bumpers from the late 70's/80's/ and early 90's as a bonus feature.

Wow! This thread sure is bringing back the memories.
I don't know which one to vote for, they were all a pretty big part of my Saturday Morning experience. Those were the days when there was something in between the shows besides commercials. :anime:

In my opinion,Time for Timer was the best of all.The Bod Squad was good, and Chopper was just a boring Fonzie rip-off to me.I don't remember the LifeGuard, though.

I think because he was "cute" looking and appealed to the kids. what was that thing supposed to be anyway?
