There have been three separate instances which occurred this week that made me just want to hold my head and cry. I asked an online buddy of mine, who has kids, by the way, if she had seen Shrek yet. She asked, without joking, "What's Shrek?" AAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!! I know not everybody is going to want to see this movie, but she has kids, and surely they would be asking to see it, or she would see the commercials on TV! It just floored me. I was without words for several minutes.
Yesterday, I was telling people at work the reason they need to be getting a DVD player, and that is the release of The Thing With Two Heads on DVD! My boss actually, no kidding around here, she asked me, "What's DVD?" AAAAAHHHHHGGGGGG!
Tonight, working at the video store, there is this guy I am working with putting away movies and he brings Princess Mononoke to me and asks, "Does this go on the kid's new release wall or just on the regular new release wall?" AAAUUUUUGGGGHHHHH!!!
FOOLS, I am telling you, I am surrounded by FOOLS!

Consider them the uneducated. I would. Maybe they just don't have the interest access and information access (or thwe good taste for that matter) that we do.

Ok, the Princess Mononoke question could be excuseable, and I guess so could What is Shrek, if they lived in a cave...but what is DVD? I mean, come on!

I'm not going to mention the DVD thing, because that would make me cry, and we can't have that. Calhoun needs a shoulder to cry on, and lord knows that won't help. lol
Oh I don't think the Shrek thing is all that excusable. I mean advertisements are absolutely everywhere. In the city on buses, bustops, and banners, TV, radio, newspaper.
And the Princess Mononoke thing is excusable, I guess, but not for someone who works in a damn video store! That's your job! But someone on the street, fine, that makes sense. Heck I've heard about this anime thingy for like a year and just recently I've learned how to spell it.

I agree. If you work in a video store you have to know movies. I know more about movies than most of the inept Blockbuster employees I see everyday. Sometimes they go blank when I ask for a movie, almost any movie.

Fools you say? And yet you keep posting here for some strange reason. :p
Shrek (I haven't seen it yet but I plan to), ok I can see someone not knowing about this. I live in a small town and if you don't watch the right channels around here at the right times you could miss the ads.
About Princess Mononoke, I wouldn't expect a random person on the street to know about this title. But someone who works in a video store? Next time tell him to read the back of the box and if he puts it in the wrong spot smack him upside the head!
As for the DVD thing, if she wasn't your boss you should have yelled at her! Not knowing what a DVD is. That's... just... sad...
