Okay, I know I'm sacrificing my dignity by bringing this up, but it's been on my mind for a while, so I'm gonna start a discussion on it. >_>

I recall back in 1990-1991-ish, I saw this movie in theaters. Let's just say my mom has never been able to forgive my sister for dragging her to that. :p And in subsequent years on VHS, I've come to loathe and enjoy this movie in a very masochistic kind of way.

Was it *really* as bad as some people declare it to be?
In a way, yes and no.

Personally, I felt it to have a good concept, but it was ultimatley wasted on a trite 'sub-plot' involving Judy Jetson. (FWIW, I thought Tiffany did a rather good job voicing Judy) Come to think of it, it pretty much was a Judy-based movie, with the George plot relegated to the 'sub-plot'. =/ And I really can't look at the Grungees without hoping that they mutate into a Gremlin and eat Mr. Spacely alive. :evil: THAT, my friends, would have been a riot.

Aniwho, I do admit the animation was pretty good, even with the early usage of computer animation. (Though 'The Great Mouse Detective', which came out a year or so prior, used it MUCH better IMO) I guess in some instances, it'd be kinda hard to notice that it is H-B animation, given that next to Filmation, they're infamous for reused animation. :sweat:

As for the music, well... I like it and I don't like it. Some songs ('Maybe Love' and 'You and Me') are a couple of my favorites, though I could honestly do without a majority of them. I dunno, I guess it's a matter of 'If you can stand Tiffany's music' kinda thing that makes or breaks the soundtrack. O_o;

Lastly, this movie was techincally the last performance for Mel Blanc. (Though as I have learned over at the TTTP, this may or may not have been his *for sure* last performance) That, and George O'Hanlon, but everyone remembers Mel the most. :p Still, one has to wonder if this was a 'fitting' send off or not for the both of them. I'd have to say for George, it coulda been; but for Mel... he deserved better. :sad:

But to be totally honest... I'd have to say 'Rockin with Judy Jetson' was ultimatley the 'better' of the Jetsons-based movies, but even that is debtable. XD

Ahhh well... your thoughts? Comments?
Just curious. ^_^;

.... Man, now I feel like digging around for this movie, just so I can give it the good ole MST3K treatment with my older sister. XD

o_O I thought George and Elroy played big roles in the movie.

If i were to watch it now, i'd be nauseated, but when it first came out, i LOVED it.

Everybody knows about the live-action one in development, right? ><

I wonder why Cartoon Network hasn't aired the movie yet? This one, The Chipmunk Adventure, and Pound Puppies and the Legend of Big Paw seem like natural choices for CN to air.

I do recall seeing the movie in theatres when it came out in...I think it was Christmas 1990. I don't remember much about it, but I don't think it was bad. Of course, I was 8 at the time, so I might feel different now.

From what I remember, Spacely's new plant on a far away planet keeps getting attacked or wrecked and he can't keep a VP in the place. So he promotes George and moves the family there to find out what's happening.

It turns out that the attackers are cute little Ewok type creatures, and the plant is destroying their home, so they keep trying to destroy the place. Wackiness ensues, the entire family gets involved, Spacely has a change of heart and closes the plant and George and the family move home, everyone's happy.

But that's just what I recall.

Isn't a then-teen pop star named Tiffany was the voice of Judy Jetson?

I saw it once in theatres 13 years ago. I seemed to like it, but then again, I was 7.

I saw this movie years ago. Can't remember if I liked it or not. Tho' the fact that I have no desire to see it again might be an indication. :sweat:

The movie wasn't so bad. At first, I thought you were all talking about "The Jetsons meet the Flintstones", but I finally remember that the Jetsons had their own movie.

The movie could've been alot better. I personally didn't care for that Judy Jetson sub-plot where she falls in love with this teen heart throb. She does that in nearly every episode of the show and in the "Jetsons/Flintstones" movie....they could've gave her another plot idea.

Did the movie do good? I didn't even know the movie came out in theaters, I thought it was a DTV (direct to video) or a made for television movie. Of course, it didn't help I was only 5 when the movie came out. I think I can take a guess that the movie did average because I remember watching this movie on television in 1992...only 2 years after its premiere. Only bad movies make the jump to television that quickly.
