Well Art Leonardi is still alive (and hopefully for a long time), if he counts. But this is still sad.
Farewell, Mr. McCabe
Amen. FYI, Norm McCabe also worked on some modern cartoons, like Tiny Toon Adventures and Pinky & The Brain and possibly others.

Well, Norm McCabe was the last surviving director in the "classic" era of Looney Tunes. He was a fine animator, and he will be missed.
He left animation temporarily in WWII and didn't work on it again until 20 years later when he joined DePatie-Freleng. Friz, not satisfied with his directing skills, usually left him as an animator (he did finally got a chance to direct episodes of "The Super 6", though).

Chuck: Hey Norm. Now the gang's all here! What's been goin' on down there?
Friz: Yeah, tell us. Not much information gets through the filter up here.
Norm: Er.....um.....well.....there's this new show.....
Bob: Yeah?
*Norm stares at anxious faces*
Norm: ........Never mind, there is no new show. Everything's peachy down there! Yeah!

The last Looney Tunes director and one of the last links to Termite Terrace. It is a sad day indeed. Though I imagine there is quite a reunion going on at The Pearly Gates right now.
