You know, who loves the Inspector. Like there's Bugs Bunny-Lovers and other cartoon characters.

Yup. The Inspector was patterned loosely after Peter Sellers' own Inspector Jacques Clouseau of the live-action Pink Panther films.

The theme song was originally used for "A Shot in the Dark".

Anyway, yes, I remember "The Inspector". It was loosely based on Peter Sellers character (Sellers reportidly hated his animated counterpart, however).

34 six minute shorts were released theatrically by United Artists from 1965 to 1969, and they were later rerun on NBC for "The Pink Panther Show".

Friz Freleng directed the first one, "Rocky and Bullwinkle" director George Singer directed five, and Looney Tunes vetern Robert McKimson directed four. Gerry Chiniquy directed everything else.
