I think all the Little Lulus are public domain.
Lulu cartoons are better than their absent fame might suggest. They're actually pretty funny. Lulu could have gone on to lasting popularity if "Marge" hadn't yanked the rights away and ceased the cartoons.

Ok. But what about the Famous Studios' Little Lulu? You know, the one with her dog name "Pal," and having these dreams and nightmares, but that's when only Lulu do something wrong. But most of the time she didn't have dream scenes. :anime:

I would think not... I don't think it's aired on any of the popular cartoon channels.

I know she did not appeared in Boomerang.
Anyway, I was talking about in the past. Was Lulu was popular in the past before she was over?

Actually there was a series of Little Lulu cartoons spanning from 1943-1948. The cartoons feature higher production values than all the other cartoons coming out of Famous Studios in the mid 1940s and have beautiful animation at times. The series is one of Famous's best cartoons they produced. They are pretty funny cartoons and are enjoyable all the way.:D

There were popular to the extent of being aired on Cartoon Network worldwide. They were moderately popular during their times and it was a decent show. A lot better than most of the hit-shows of today.

There were three "Little Lulu" series that I'm aware of. One from Famous Studios, another from Cinar. Also, one that was made and aired in Japan, courtesy of Nippon Animation. It aired from October 3, 1976 to April 3, 1977, with 26 episodes.

Little Lulu cartoons from the 40s are well animated, but they mostly portray her as an innocent scamp who gets into trouble and says things like "Did I doooo that?" all the time. The portrayal of her character would later morph into that of a clever, sarcastic but good-natured girl in later decades.
I haven't seen mention here of the Tracey Ullman-voiced Lulu cartoon in the 1990s, which is VERY faithful to the 50s comic book version of Little Lulu, the comic book having had NO INPUT by Marge but is often seen as the definitive portrayal of Lulu in the eyes of fans.
As for Lulu's overall popularity, she's having a Conan-like renaissance of sorts at Dark Horse comics right now. I don't know how well the reprints are doing, but they've been releasing reprint collections of the 1950s comic for the past 2 years now so I suppose it's done well enough. They are fantastic comics. I would guess Lulu to be quite popular during the 40s and 50s based on the merchandise and cross-media appeal of Lulu during that era. Not as big as Mickey Mouse, but at one time possibly *almost* on par with Tom and Jerry as a cartoon character.

LITTLE LULU wasn't the one with the dog named Pal..
Her successor at FAMOUS/PARAMOUNT, Playful LITTLE AUDREY, was the one who owned the dog named "Pal"..
Incidentally, FAMOUS created AUDREY after they lost the rights to LULU.

My only question I do have on the classic series, is how this was:

I've honestly never seen this one. Has anyone here by chance?

I remember seeing it dubbed to spanish down here many years ago (early 90s) and it was quite an enjoyable cartoon, since it was very faithful to the original Famous series in the concept of character designs and stories, despite the very limited animation.

Hmmm...I don't think it's available in Japan either. Surprisingly, when Cartoon Network Japan aired "Lulu", it was the Cinar version, rather than the Japanese one.

HBO Family aired the Cinar Little Lulu cartoons. They were cute. I taped them several times over because I didn't know which show began the series and which show ended it.
Trivia: The opening theme from HBO's Little Lulu was the actual theme from the Famous Stuidos series. It's true. The theme is credited to "Famous Music"
