Alright, so on Christmas day when I awoke I found Gunslinger Girl Volumes 1 and 2, and I immediately said "Uhh...mom I already got this one" pointing to the first, and she got angry at herself for picking the wrong one by accident, and it was from Suncoast, and she had taken off the wrapping. So we were going to return it a couple days later, and it still had the security tag on the bottom, and it hadn't been broken in the least bit, because I didn't want to open something that I was going to return, so basically it was still brand new...okay so anyways, we go there, and we ask to return it, and if we could just trade it in for volume 3, and they say yes and she fills out the paper work while I go get the 3rd one, well when the guy see's that the wrapping is not on it, he says we can't return it, and my mother stated it hadn't been opened and he could see that from the security device, and the guy believed her and said "Well, we can't re-sell it because it isn't wrapped, and we don't have a wrapper" and so the battke went on...and we never got to return/trade it in (but luckily we went to Best Buy for the first time in my life and found a ton of anime and got it there) but still, 30 bucks pretty much wasted when they should have a machine that wraps things, and my mom is going to contact the company...but yeah, I feel cheated, and hopefully they will re-fund it, and Ill let you guys know how that turns out, but what are your thoughts on this? It's cool to be honest...

Umm.. no they shouldn't have to have a shrinkwrapping device.
And as a retailer, I wouldn't have taken back an unshrinkwrapped dvd. Its not hard to take a disc out of the case and leave the stickers still on there.

I hate when that happens.
Right before Xmas, I got Clone Wars vol.1 from my sister. Unfortunately I had it, so I went to exchange it for v. 2. So there I am in in that ridiculously long return/exchange line inside TRU Times Square. First it's the lady asking for a receipt whereas I explain it was a gift and I'm not about to ask my sister for it. This conversation is repeated 3 times. Then she scans the DVD for the exchange and it comes out as not having any value. So off I went to Virgin, and paid 4 cents difference for the exchange.

The whole Suncoast/Musicland/Media Play link have ridiculously high prices. With Media Play's current 40% clearance sale, no joke, I got some hard to find stuff at prices Best Buy would have it at.

Once again...

And Circuit City's just slightly cheaper than that bunch. Best Buy, no joke, has always had the consistently best prices for a brick-and-mortar store.

As I see it, Suncoast is a bit of a double edged sword. On one hand you can find a lot of obscure stuff (read: Criterion) not found elsewhere, on the other hand everything is MSRP so going on a small shopping spree there would bankrupt a small country.

Ummm...why the hell did she take off the wrapping? You're not supposed to take off the wrapping when you give someone a gift. I wouldn't have let you return it either. Sorry, but she should have known better than to remove the wrapping. I mean, everyone knows that you can't return something after you've taken off the wrapping. And don't tell me it was to remove the price tag either, because you can easily scrape off the price tag without removing the wrapping.

I agree. If they let people return stuff without the shrinkwrapping then they run the risk of people buying the disc, using it(and possibly scratching it) and then returning it. And most people don't want to buy a disc that has already been used by someone else.

Suncoast is a bit pricey on DVD's, I hate buying anime there, but I have no other choices.
The dvd's from they, they always come with some kind of problem, is a pain buying at them

Yeah I know, thats exactly what I said, I was like "Why did you take off the wrapping?" but I dont even know...weird...honestly, I could careless about the whole situation, but I was just wondering others opinions on it...but for now Best buy will do :)

Since I've been working Guest Service this week (And everyone seems to hate on Target's return policy)...
Yeah, I wouldn't have let you return an open disc. You'd be able to swap it for a copy of the same disc, but not be able to do a straight return.
And God help you if you try to return something we don't have (that has a giant Wal-Mart sticker on it), or complain that you're not getting full-price back because your idiot relative didn't get a gift reciept. Yeah, go to Wal-Mart. Gets you out of my damn hair.

While I don't like their MSRP-prices, I do like Suncoast overall better than Best Buy. It's often much easier to find stuff at Suncoast, I get Replay points, their new release sales are great, and they sell not only Used DVDs but manga and Japanese candy/drinks as well. Plus, the cashiers at the Suncoasts I go to are pretty cool, and are anime fans (One of them absolutely lit up when I was selling my one TMR DVD, and many times when I sell DVDs the cashier already proclaims that they're going to buy it).

Your giving something back is a Return. Doesn't matter if its for a different DVD or $$, its still a return.

A lot depends on your local Suncoast. The one where I live had a bunch of employees who knew there anime and thus the store developed into the best selection of DVDs, manga and related CDs in town. Some of the other Suncoast's I've been to don't have much. As far as prices, a lot of it is straight MSRP, and thus pretty high. However, they do have some pretty good deals if you go at the right times (that applies to about anwhere really). I generally find the best deals at my local Suncoast on their non-disc, anime related things like plushes and stuff (things my wife finds cute). No one else in town has them and a lot of times they are 25-50% off or more after they have been on the shelf for awhile.
