Since the year is almost at an end it is time for New Year's Resolutions.

For next year I will try to buy no video games until I have beaten the ones I have already but I am sure that I would forget this by February anyway.

I resolve to breathe all next year, as long as I'm alive to do so.

I resolve to be a better person and to get my driver's license. Also, to continue to not give into peer-pressure. (My dorm-mates want me to get smashed)

- Lose twenty pounds or so before prom and more before I head to college
- Exercise and eat well to do so (my friend volunteered to be an exercise buddy... now we need to join a gym!)
- Study hard in AP Physics and AP Calculus to pass the AP exams
- Keep my room clean for longer than a few days at a time
- Try new things when I get to college
- Study hard and do well in college

Wow, to think in about eight months I'll be moving away from home. That's crazy

My New Year's resolution is to be able to learn to think before I say things that I will regret. I suffered alot with this in the last year, and I know I need to work on it!

Also, I would LOVE to be able to gain some weight! Being the shortest and skinniest kid in my class since preschool(I'm not kidding) has finally gotten me motivated to eat more and pack on some pounds! Hopefully, it will work this year!

-keep a girlfriend. seriously have troubles in this area. i either ask a girl out who has no attraction/attachment to me or i get a girl to go out with me but then i become too clingly and possessive. i'm seeing a wonderful girl currently and am doing my best to just be funny, sensitive, and an all around good guy to her. plus i like to count the number of times i make her blush on each of our dates

-exercise. i gained 10 pounds since last year. not cool

-get working on the online comic project. i've been seriously lagging on this, sadly, since whenever i do work on it, i instantly get excited about what i'm working on

that's about it without getting too personal

My 2006 New Year's Resolutions:

- Getting to know everyone in the ToonZone Message Board.

- Thinking before I post, because I have to admit that I had made some shaky messages in the past.

Getting to know everyone in the ToonZone Message Board. That's a good idea! So will I because in May of '06 it will be 2 years (can you believe it?) since I've been a member of the ToonZone.net Message Boards.. It's been a lot of fun!

Thinking before I post, because I have to admit that I had made some shaky messages in the past. That's something I should do as well.

Before rattling off my resolutions for 2006, I thought it might be fun to dig up the 2005 resolutions I made here on Toon Zone (http://forums.toonzone.net/showpost.php?p=1560159&postcount=23). Let's take a look at how last year's resolutions turned out...

1. I'm a pretty good weight already, but I'm hoping to do more lifting and increase my muscle definition.

-Succeeded in this one. I worked out a lot, and can now lift far more than I could a year ago. As an added bonus, I dropped about fifteen pounds, going from around 160 lbs. to 145 lbs.

2. Lift my GPA up by half a point, from a 3.0 to a 3.5.

-Exceeded this one. My current GPA is 3.75, owing to a couple of very good semesters.

3. Rock-climb more.

-Owing to a lack of time, equipment, and climbing buddies, I failed miserably at this one. I have outdoor climbed a total of two times this year, and about a half-dozen more in the gym. Shameful.

4. Cycle more.

-Passed this one with flying colors, in no small part due to my training for next summer's 4500-mile charity bike ride. I now cycle at least three times more per week than I used to, and the upper limit of longer rides has increased by several times. I'm now making regular sixty-mile rides (on a mountain bike) whereas I used to only bike about fifteen miles.

5. Learn archery and fencing, two skills I've wanted to pick up but been putting off for a while.

-Learned archery, didn't really get around to fencing though I've set up classes for 2006. Unfortunately, I now can't read a comic with Hawkeye, Green Arrow, or that archer girl from Young Avengers without all the inaccuracies annoying me.

6. Complete filming on a planned mockumentary with friends.

-Said mockumentary was wisely shelved.

7. Read more.

-Succeeded. Ignoring comic books, trades and graphic novels, I read a good twenty books this year, not great but better than 2004.

8. Actually finish my comic on 24 Hour Comics Day this year, instead of falling asleep while inking.

-Didn't even make it to 24 Hour Comics Day this year.

9. Eat healthier, darnit!

-Succeeded big-time. I eat less, and better when I do eat.

10. Master the harmonica, move on to a new instrument.

-Failed, on both counts.

11. Start updating the LiveJournal (http://www.livejournal.com/users/freemarketmarx/) regularly, and with quality content this time.

-Haven't updated the LJ at all this year, and don't plan to in the future. I plan to get a blog, and will do so as soon as I can nail down a focus.

12. Sweep a certain someone off their feet. How I'm gonna pull that off, I don't know, but I've got 365 days to figure it out.

-Failed majorly and quite spectacularly, despite having every possible chance in order to make something happen. Oh well. Lesson learned, and I won't screw up my next opportunity with a girl.

13. Take a road trip.

-Travelled to Los Angeles for E3, so I won this one. Next year: Alaska. On a bicycle.

14. Learn the ins and outs of photography, courtesy of a friend who's a photojournalism major.

-Didn't get around to this one, but it's still part of the plan.

15. Be a better person in general... nicer, kinder, more patient, less cynical, more idealistic.

-This is hard to judge, but I like to think I've succeeded. I've grown a decent amount as a human being and have certainly made the effort to be more friendly, so I'd call this a success.

16. Volunteer more.

-Succeeded, owing mainly to the influx of Katrina refugees that came to Austin, though I did some other stuff too.

17. Find a job, save some $$$

-Succeeded at finding a job (at a newspaper, no less) and holding it for the few months I wanted it, but I didn't really save any money. Glass half-full.

18. Relax

-Sure, although not a lot.

19. Post pictures on the Photo Thread.

-Nope. Unfortunately, there hasn't been a good picture taken of me in the entirety of 2005. Maybe next year.

20. Be just ambitious enough.

-Going by the resolution success rate, I'd say I managed this well enough. More importantly, I've been more adventurous and taken on bigger challenges (like modhood... huzzah!), so that's what matters.

All in all... of twenty resolutions, I fulfilled 11, and for the most part those were the more important ones. Not too shabby.

Anyhow, onto the 2006 resolutions...

1. Make the most of my charity bike ride... meaning principally: complete it, raise a considerable amount more than my fundraising requirement, and keep my rider's journal online updated.
2. Get a piece of writing... review, essay, editorial, news article, whatever, published outside of a student-run publication.
3. Establish blog, only with a point outside of "I'm bored, let's start a blog" this time.
4. Take more pictures.
5. Hold down an "A" GPA.
6. Learn how to cook better.
7. See more local music.
8. Be a better mod and provide more original content for TZ members on the CBC forum.
9. Develop a clearer plan for life post-college.
10. Get more involved politically.

Looks like a pretty good list. Let's go for all ten this year!

My three resolutions fall into some categories.

1. Achieve Individualism - My biggest goal is to find my beliefs. One's that are not influenced by others. Things that I stand for and believe in and will stay with. Become a true democrat, learn more about other religons including mine, be more aware of news and the world around me, find ways to help others, etc. I believe that accomplishing this will lift my confidence, help me take a step forward with my life.

2. Make more GBLT people to become friends with. This will help me become for comftorable around myself. Strange, I know that I'm not comftorable even with myself yet, but true.

3. Watch a heck of amount of movies and anime. So many that I don't even know what I'm gonna do!

My Three New Year resolutions.

1) Get more physically fit. I am an ok weight for my height, but could use more muscle definition. Also there is a fitness center nearby, so I should take advantage of that.

2) On the fun side, I want watch all the DVDs I have amassed during 2005. Hell, I still have LOTR Return of the King extended version which I haven't watched, Kill Bill Vol 1, and a bunch of anime I bought just cuz of "The pretty pictures". Boy they are just gathering dust.

Also I want to finally beat Disgaea... I know I am almost done with that game, just I keep playing other games. *Shakes angry fist* Dang you Dragon Quest VIII!

3) One more resolution which I will work hard on. It's kinda private so I won't post it here

*stares at randomguy's post*

Uh, that is quite a list you got there. Dang I'm impressed!

(guess I'll sneak in and blurt mine)

1) Get fit. Isn't this everyone's resolution? lol. My stamina needs improving on, along with, yes, muscle definition.

2a) Bring up my Chemistry, Bio, Math grades from below 40% to above 60% within the first semester. Bring up my History, Social Studies, Literature and English grades to above 75% and keep them there.

2b) Bring up my Chem, Bio and Math grades to 70% at least by the third term, and keep them there .

2c) Pass my Chinese, and if I'm finally allowed to take the simpler course, excel in it.

2d) Score a single digit point for my O levels.

3) Save up for most of the DCAU Dvd boxset releases. BTAS, BB, JLA.

4) Complete my fic on WFWC.

5) Read.

My biggest resolution: stop procrastinating with new years resolutions and become more assertive, affirmative, and more proactive. I'm taking charge of my life and hoppin' in the driver's seat.

I've already been doing most of my resolutions that I wanted to stick to... which means that I might just continue to keep doing them!

In no order:

1.) Watch sports more often. I want to take them all in: from rugby to monkey-knife fights!

2.) Exercise more. Ah, something that most everyone vows to do; I however want to exercise in abstract ways. Jazzercise flippin' rocks.

3.) Read at least double the novels that I did in '05. I read 26 (that darn manga held me up! I read about 55 volumes of manga in 2005), most of which were in the last half of the year, so I have a chance at something there. Any suggestions are welcome, PM me. =D

4.) Socialize more. I hate being social. I really do. I like having only a few close friends instead of a... what do those darn kids call 'em? A posse?

5.) Take up a special activity class. I still really want to take Karate, just have to finish convincing my parents that it's worth the money. If not Karate, I want to take either Belly- or Ballroom-Dancing. I also want to learn how to knit.

6.) Somehow figure out to geek myself up a bit more. I add to my geekitude every year, I just need to figure out how this year. Perhaps I should build up my gamer side.

Any DVD I get next year from January 3rd, 2006 -June 24th, 2006 (Movies AND TV shows) will remain unopened until the Summer when I will have a HA-UGE marathon of it all.

After Summer 2006, replace that with "September 7th-December 18th" and "unopened until the Winter vacation"

Man I have a lot of New Year's Resolutions...

Be more patient towards a certain few infuriatingly stupid classmates
Read more--this shouldn't be hard as I love to read (books, not mangas LOL :p....not that I don't like mangas....)
Work even harder on schoolwork
Be more social
Try to get better test scores
Not get caught up in all of the drama
Be more ambitious
Ignore peer pressure (people always assume I have a crush on someone. Why is that? Do you have to be in love to be alive? If so, the only thing I have to say to that is 'Pigs. Might. Fly.')
Remind self on a daily--maybe even hourly--basis that having crushes is a stupid waste of my time
Try to be a better person
Find time to volunteer
Organize--or help to organize--a fundraiser for my school (don't ask why)
Cook dinner for my parents
Exercise even more
Eat even healthier
NO SODA!!!!!!!I think that's all for now.

- Get that better job.
- Get a costume made for Anime Expo 2006, and hopefully use it for Comic-Con International.
- Move to California (or at least get out of Arkansas).
- Get a notebook computer.
- A better automobile.
- Get in better shape physically.

Honestly, I don't have any. In the last three months, I stopped eating meat, started to avoid most things with caffiene in it (chocolate and Excerdrin Migraine are the notable exceptions), and I graduated from college. So I guess if I don't start eating meat, drinking caffeine, or un-graduatate, I'll be good to go. Yes, I want to a few things this year (propose to my girlfriend, get a job, move out), but those fall into the "goals" category.
