I was at wal-mart today, and I was considering picking up a south park season set that I needed, but I decided to hold off, because I had a question to ask. Are Wal-Mart's DVDs censored or are they the same ones that you can buy elsewhere?

Walmart only sells censored music. The DVDs are untouched.

It's pan and scan, but it's unrated. They had the rereleases of Not Another Teen Movie and Don't Be a Menace To South Central..., and those were both labelled as unrated versions as well.

Wal-Mart "censors" DVDs by refusing to sell them.

Which is why I'm somewhat surprised they offer "South Park" there...

In my experience, Wal-Mart carries FAR more unrated DVDs than special editions (various recent WB releases).

they do screw you though, walmart mostly sells fullscreen dvds because they think its what "consumers" want.

I remember waiting at 11:50 at Wal-Mart for Batman Begins: Deluxe Edition to come out. I had seen it advertised on Walmart.com. They told me and about 20 people that they were still unloading the boxes and it wouldn't be available till about 12:45 a.m.

So we all started hanging out in the video games section playing One Piece: Grand Battle.

Then the guy shows up with maybe 30 copies in his arms. He asks everyone if they want Widescreen or Fullscreen. Everyone replies, "The Delixe Edition".

He tells us there is no such thing.

One guy actually had a printout of the online ad. The store clerk told us that online doesn't count.

So everyone just kinda got pissed and walked away leaving the guy with all 30 dvd's still in his hand begging for dear life.

As for the censoring, Wal-Mart sells a LOT of Rated R dvds. It just never really came to me why they would SHOW blood, and gore, and death, and sex, and all the characters cursing their little hearts out.........

......but we can't hear a few bad words in a rap CD or else Nazi's will ride on dinosaurs.

(I've been dying to use that, thanks Clara)

Yeah... about that, walmart.com is a whole different division of the company. You'll find things on their online store that a real Walmart wouldn't even think of stocking.

Really? I haven't seen any at mine, but it's also been a long time since I've been to one. That'd be pretty surreal to see, actually.

They only carry "popular" R-rated movies, and it's usually on one of the inside shelves.
