They've really improved since last season, I must say. Oh, and best credit sequence ever.

ok i'm confused: was this supposed to be for or against Boost Mobile? why would they let them use their logo and outright slander their product?

That was hilarious. The switch blade part was my favorite. I was cracking up throughout the episode. The Axe-ified credit sequence was great. I also loved the hose scene. 5 out of 5.:)

As always any harm inflicted on Shake is good for me

Wow......

That really sucked. An 11-minute boost mobile commercial. No matter how many times they killed the phones, it still wasn't funny whatsoever.

I hate those freakin' chirp rings/phones...so anything that contributes to the furthering of their destruction or mockary of their brand is a plus in my book.

Axe showing up at the end was hilarious (And it's inclusion in the credits). Good show ATHF, good show. :)

True, but I don't know, to me I just didn't find that funny.

Didn't care much for the episode until the Axe body spray showed up.

How long has boost mobile existed? I haven't had any actual television service since october and this episode is the first I've ever heard of/seen Boost or their phones in my entire life. Until reading this thread, I didn't think it WAS a real company, and I thought this was what made the Axe body spray funny/special. I guess it wasn't.

They've been around for awhile, not sure exactly how long though. But you probably seen the commercials during Adult Swim with the white guys trying to act black and talking about "posers." You know those commercials that are annoying. Shake was dressed up as one of those guys, and this ATHF episode emulated those commercials perfectly... it was annoying.

The Boost Mobile ads are the ones with that rapper Ludacris.

How long has boost mobile existed?I could swear those "Where you at?" grannies started showing up well over a year ago.

jbanks97
12-10-2005, 04:45 PM
It's not just the "where you at" grannies. It's that ho-rendous commercial staring Ludacris and some other generic rapper, and at one point involving Roller Skates and shouting "FROM ATLANTA TO THE DC A CP" (or something).

(It was one of the few commercials airing on adult swim non-stop in the earlier days. They made fun of once during the cards that polled viewers about what they wanted to see during the 5-6am block.)

The commercials blatantly pander to the hip-hop urban image, and that's the most obvious thing the ep was making fun of.
I'm not a huge fan of blatant satire, but I still liked this episode for all the other insanity that was going on in the background. If anything the only genuine critique I might have is that it reminded me alot of the "baffler meal" space ghost episode, (but with real products instead of fake).

I still really liked Meatwads continued obsession with hair, "jeffy's house", the fact that they represented boost mobile with a giant boost mobile cell phone that literally said "where you at dog" all the time, Shake's call to Kevin, and learning how to Milk a cow.

3.5 out of 5 for me

I used to be like you. Now the thing is attached to me at the hip.

I used to be like you. Now the thing is attached to me at the hip. My advice to Scythmantis, stay strong, and less annoying, by not indulging that curiousity. I somehow doubt that you'd enjoy having the power to reach out and bother people no matter where they are, and vice versa.

I have one, but I use it rarely and only for a limited set of specific situations (I think I've used it all of seven times in the last three months).

and have it off 95% of the time

I hate people who excessively use their cellphones. In mid conversation while you are standing there, they all of a sudden pick up their cellphone to talk to someone else without even giving an "excuse me" and many people leave it on even though in certain public settings they are told to turn them off. I mean nobody even knows phone etiquette anymore, and if I had my way people who don't know phone etiquette and have a cell phone would get both hands chopped off and have their mouths sewn shut with barbed wire.

Once you hit college and your college doesnt have ground line service in the bill, then it's no other choice than a cell phone.

Unless if you like putting your ear onto a NYC public phone reciever and put your finger in the dark coin slot in the middle of the night hoping nothing 'questionable' is inside.

Okay, I get the idea that this was supposed to be a parody or jab or some sort of slight against Boost Mobile, an idea that seemed to sound funny in theory. Heck, with Shake involved at the center of it, that had to be worth something, right? Not in my opinion... the idea didn't exactly execute well, and I was left with the taste of wanting a whole lot more satire or whatever than what was given in this episode.

6 out of 10 for "Boost Mobile."

That pun may have been funnier than this entire episode. An entire 11 minute episode devoted to product placement with no funny writing whatsoever. I'm very disappointed. Last week's episode was hilarous and better than the entire last season. Then they return back to 'sucky' form with this crap. I should get in a christmas mood and say bah humbug.

11 minutes of the same joke over and over sure is funny.

I found this to be funnier than last week's, but I recognze last week's had slightly better writing. Confuzed? I guess I didn't really get engaged in last week's episode, was feeling kind of out of it.

Have you ever wondered if Adult Swim is actually part of some bizarre Nietzschean test to find Übersmenschen that can resist the urge to laugh, but someone on the inside is working against them and slowly rigging the experiment in the audiences favor to save all but the weakest?

Because episodes like this make that theory feel a lot more plausible.

While it was good, I'm just really looking forward to next weeks episode. A double-length Christmas episode? Aw, yeah. Tis the season.

That was just about the longest Boost Mobile ad ever. I love the Axe can running through the end credits, which was the highlight for me, along with Carl's ranting.

You know, I laughed my ass off at the commercial where Shake said "You're black. You sound black." because there have been quite a few message board topics on the official Adult Swim board that have asked if Frylock is black because he sounds black. But, when the episode aired I didn't laugh once. And why the hell was Dr. Weird in the ad but not in the actual episode?

Dr. Weird in the ad but not in the actual episode? Because large companies like to lie to you, and then give you cancer

The episode's Boost Mobile parody was too long and labored. It would have worked better with Shake as a product-obsessed soul going from product to product, like when the Axe can showed up. Oh, well, at least we have a double-length new ATHF to look forward to next week. (^_*)

Well I guess this just goes to show how ads fail. I thought Boost Mobile was fake and they were making fun of T-Mobile, I can't keep track of all this bullcrap. Just give me one of the legit phone companies, thanks.

This episode was meh. Shake dancing all the time was kinda funny. The best line came from Carl though.

"Why are you dancin'? You're poor."

I found that to be really, really funny.

I don't watch this show much but I laughed a few times during this ep. There's something funny about a character blatantly whoring himself out (check out my sig!).I guess boost mobile has simply been beneath my notice. I don't use a cel phone, and never want to.Wow, no cell phone and you've been without tv service since October. Are you Amish? Just kiddin'! Honestly, if it wasn't for work I don't think I'd carry a cell either.

I enjoyed it for what it was. And it was an 11 minute ad for Boost Mobile. Not really good, but, eh. The comments about Frylock being black were hilarious. I also really got a kick out of seeing the Axe body spray at the end. The rest was OK. An improvement over last week's, but that's not saying much.

My opinon: 5 out of 5

I hate Boost Mobile as well and it's trademark, english-destroying slogan, 'where you at'? Which is why I was glad to see a parody...for about 2 minutes. Than it just dragged on and on and on and on. It picked up again with the Axe credits, but that was about it.

I'd say about average for ATHF.
