Everyone loves Family Guy and Futurama and the animes, but the others who are not as insane as me (and some of you if you consider yourself insane) but what do the "everyday civilian" non message board people you know think of [AS] originals?

I'll be posting what friends think here every so often because I'm not in the mood to type forever right now, so expect more later.

I'll start with a strange one... My Mom. :p

While she's probably only sat down to watch one maybe once or twice, she's seen bits and pieces of episodes, and she's commented. Here's what I gather from her comments:

ATHF: Very wacky show, she doesn't mind it, she just finds it confusing

Sealab: She absolutely hates this one. She finds no intelligence in the writing and finds that they rely too much on shock humor.

Harvey Birdman: She thinks this one is clever. Not much else to put...

Space Ghost: She says it can be very witty when they're not acting stupid.

Brak: Very silly, but it's a fun show

TgttM: She thinks it's pretty funny.

Venture Bros: She doesn't think much of this. She's not an action fan, and she finds Monarch scenes too absurd to be funny. I guess she's smiled at a few Dr.Venture lines.

Robot Chicken: She says she hasn't seen them do a good parody yet. She says it builds itself on stupid humor and shock humor.

Squidbillies: She hasn't seen much, but she doesn't find Hillbillies to be that funny

12 oz mouse: She's confused at this one. But she finds their occasional word play funny.

Stroker and Hoop: She says it's a "Starsky and Hutch parody with a couple of adult jokes and some stupidity that [AS] is known for"

Perfect Hair Forever: Hasn't seen it yet

Boondocks: She thinks it's not such a funny show, but can see why people like it.

Home Movies (It's sort of an original...) : She likes this one the best. No screaming of random stupidity, very well written,Mcguirk is funny and she's liked every episode she's seen. (except Starboy :( )

I'll post what friends think later.

Until then: CAN THE OTHERS HANDLE THE INSANITY?????

Man, your mom rocks. :) Most people I know hate Tom Goes to the Mayor.

Before I get to my roommate (The ESPN/sports fan for most part), I just want to report that Robot Chicken, ATHF, and now the Boondocks are relly loved by the majority of people at my college.

Now for the ESPN Watching Roommate's Opinions:
ATHF: Likes it a lot, but hasn't seen the fourth season or the new episode that aired recently. Owns Vol. 2 and 3 DVDs.

Sealab: Thought it was alright at times.

Harvey Birdman: Hasn't really watched much of it.

Space Ghost: Okay, thinks Zorak is real funny.

Brak: Doesn't like it for most part, but thought few episodes were funny.

TgttM: Hates it except for "Rebirth" and the one with Michael Ian Black. He thinks it tries too hard.

Venture Bros: Hasn't watched.

Robot Chicken: Like 1 episode, hated another.

Squidbillies: Only saw a little and didn't like it.

12 oz mouse: Hasn't seen it but I already know he would hate it!

Stroker and Hoop: Only seen the pilot and didn't like it.

Perfect Hair Forever: Hasn't seen it yet

Boondocks: Tried getting him to watch it recently, but he fell asleep during it. I think he'd like it, he'll probably enjoy it when people quote the hell out of it like they did with Family Guy.

Home Movies: Like me, he only likes seasons 2-4. But surprisingly, he really does like the show and was considering getting season 2 on DVD.

I have been trying to get my friend into Adult Swim, but he finds the humour a little too "out there", with a few exceptions.

Harvey Birdman: Thinks it is really funny and clever.

Venture Bros: Loves Brock, and really likes the episode "Ghosts of the Sargasso".

Home Movies: Like me, this is his favourite. Really likes "The Jazz Fighters", and of course really likes McQuirk. He dislikes the first season, mostly because of squiglevison, but likes the season one finally.

Everyone I know who watches Adult Swim at all enjoys a majority (even if that majority is occasionally by a thin margin) of the WS originals as well, which seems to be more or less on a par with the message board consensus as well. Nobody can seem to agree on WHICH of the originals are good, but almost everybody likes some of them. (-:

I remember talking to my friend last year about adult swim and he said the only good shows were Futurama and Family Guy, lol.

Honestly Boondocks is the most normal show on the network, and even that is a stretch. That's probably the ones most mainstream people that aren't a fan of absurdist humor flock to anyway.

I introduced my mom to Big-O when adult swim started to replay the first season and she loved it. Second season not so much.

Besides for her opinions on Venture Bros., your mom has the exact same opinions as I.

My mom's idea of decent humor is a Friends marathon, so you can tell how she feels about the AS originals

She loved the Bebop episode I showed her(Ballad of Fallen Angels of course), and thought Home Movies was ok

She thinks Family Guy is pretty funny, quite odd since I find it horrendous. Also, my 10th Grade English teacher overheard one of my critical rants of the show with my friends, and said she hated it with a passion too :ack: . Odd.

My mom got horrified when she saw the episode of The Brak Show, "The Eye".
And said "WTF?" when she saw the Clone High (in AS Latin America) episode "Litter Kills: Litterally".
