Damn, if I didn`t know this was the second to last episode, I`d say it was the beginning of a new story arc.

Indeed it seems like they could support another 26 episodes of this show. I didn't quite think so last week, but now I believe so.
Or they could make "Straight Cougar:TAS":D
Kazuma and Ryuuhou are finally going to settle things once and for all.

I was hoping when they start the battle, someone would say this:
"You take the 500,000 on the right, I'll take the 500,000 on the left."
This ep feels more like an afterward. If they ended it right now, it would be so perfect.
4 out of 5.

That was a fun ep. Seeing Kazuma and Ryoho take out the Mainland's forces was cool as all hell.
Mr. Balls got his girl back, and Mimori and Kanami's goodbyes were sweet as well. And the other two get to plant watermelons. Yay!
I can't believe that next week is the last episode.....but FINALLY. A true head to head equal fight against Kazuma and Ryoho. Am I the only one that thinks the Lost Ground is going to be turned upside down again...
My bet's on Kazuma....anyone else?
5 stars tonite. Bring on next week.

If next week's episode didn't happen, and they expanded on the mainland attempting to do damage control on the Mujou thing.. maybe..

It was a nice "aftermath" episode. However, I was annoyed by the whole "omg i can't bee wit u becuz im too manly dangerous" scenes that both Kazuma and Ryuhou did.
I give Native a B-.

Well, for one, Kanami is way too young. And for Ryuhou, having somoene die because they loved you would kinda sour you on the whol concept for at least a while.

Well for the first time, this episode in this series was pure crap.
Ryuho prefers to fight and someday get killed and leave his girl Mimori instead of living a life of peace.
Kazuma looks like he wants to get killed someday as well.
3 months!? They haven't seen their beloved friends in 3 months? Is that all that they've been doing!? Fighting the mainland for the past 3 months!?
I guess Coguar did die. I really didn't want to believe it.
What's the deal with Ryuho and Kazuma's skin!? Kazuma has these lines on his right arm and his face cheeks as well as Ryuho! What are they mutating or something!?
Why is it that animes never end peacefully?

Err... How were they suppose to live peacefully?
The mainland hasn't given up on the possibility of controlling Lost Ground, as only LG population will created Alter Users. It's a source of power they are willing to take by force. The fact that they have been brain-wiping Alter users or pushing them through lethal experiments shows that they treat the LG people not as humans, but resources. Resources to be farmed and exploited.
The lines on their bodies are simply painful scars... There are always prices to pay for power.
And I ask you once again; how do you suppose they can end the show peacefully? At best, political footwork over several decades will be needed before a truce can be declared. Ryouhu's GF will have to work her arms off as a politician for the rest of her life before any useful results will come up.
By the way, in case you forgot; other than Kazuma and Ryouhu, who can obviously fly and crush blockades, the rest of the LG population are trapped in LG. They can't leave, and are effectively prisoners. The reason there is a seperate currency in LG was so no matter how rich you are, you can never leave the island as your money will be useless outside.
Peace will take time. Survival will come first.

So does Ryuho really love Shrieece? ( sorry i can't spell that right)
When he was talking to Mimori he said that Shrieece had given up her life to save his..was he saying that because he realized who he truley loved, or for Mimori's protetion?

You know what I'm still confused about this episode and always have been since I first watched it on the Adult Swim OnDemand channel a few months back.
Why does the military force of the Mainland look like some kinda Cobra-lalalalala force from GI Joe? With weird organic birds and those odd looking kinda petal-type carriers.

It's because they are all upgraded versions of the "Hand Alter users".
They are all still captured brain-wiped Lost Ground people though. As such it's better to put them out of their misery.

There seemed to be unusally large number of captured alters, and the mainland did clone Jigmar, so it wouldn't be too much of a strech. Although, the age thing needed to be fixed, so I guess they can acclerate the growth. Not like the Mainland has any moral problems with doing stuff like that.

It's called an in-joke. Producers or directors put it in there to do homage to their favorite shows:p

True... Almost forgot about the clones.
Either way, they are brain-wiped to make them, as FlyByNite77 said, look like Cobra force. Not much more than droids, and more proof that Mimori (Midori? Damn, Can't remember... I caught Cougar-disease... ) will need to one day straighten things out back in the main land.
I am sure the general population won't approve of this if they ever knew... It's not nice to treat people like resources.

Ah, thanks for explaining that. I had been wondering about it for awhile ;) I realized there were a lot of alter users in those mask guys. I hadn't considered that the rest of those things were probably clones of one specific type of alter (the flying bird thing), etc... and then they just deployed many of them.
I always did wonder why there weren't any conventional weapons like jet fighters or anything, but maybe they didn't bother since the big bad satellite cannon they had was taken out pretty easy. The mainland must have been thinking the only chance was to use their alter users.

There is also the possibility that the conflict between Alter Users and the government was kept secret and away from public eye. Hence they don't really want normal soldiers to get involved, and then tell news reporters what they saw when they go on leave. There is too many skeletons in the closet...
Although there is little doubt they didn't think normal weapons will work against these two. The Alter army was no doubt designed to takeover the Island.
They assumed they have enough numbers to overpower the two main characters in their level 2 powerup... Except by the time the army is developed and ready to deploy, the opposition have reached level 3 and their forces could do nothing.:D

Optimus?!?!? I missed that when I saw this ep; as one who has been a Trans fan from the very beginning, I am ashamed. I am so looking for it Thursday. Always glad to know that there are TF fans among the anime makers (not to mention the Robot Chicken crew).
I didn't want to be a gloomy gus, but I didn't think we were going to see Cougar again. Remember, his car picked up Miss Meanery - um, Mimori - and the others, but he didn't. Remember also that he phased through the walls. I know he's fast, but only the Flash is that fast. And what he said to Kazuma: "Please, let me do this one last thing, little brother." And he hasn't been seen since.
They have who-knows-how many armies to deal with, a common purpose in defending the Lost Ground and its people; and all those two can think of is fighting each other? They probably don't care that it's the wrong time & place, and that they could easily take this up after the Lost Ground is safe. What am I talking about; of course they don't care.
Ryuho and Mimori do have to get together, and not just for their own reasons. He is the heir to the leadership of the Lost Ground, and she is a princess from the mainland. Even if they weren't crazy about each other, from a strictly political pov, their union would be the best thing to happen to the Lost Ground and its relationship with the mainland.
Maybe Shell Bullet and Zetsuei should pay a visit to Tokyo or wherever those people were meeting in secret to determine the fate of the Lost Ground, and just clean house. Overthrow the government, and the Self Defense Force would not really be an issue. Maybe then a way could be found to free the Dars and other captive altars; I'm sure Mimori and the recently-reunited Tachibana would devote their efforts toward that end.
Then, after the final battle between the two, hopefully they wouldn't kill each other. Then Kazuma disappears back into the Lost Ground with Kanami, while Ryuho and Mimori unite and go about securing final justice for the Lost Ground and its people. They should also have a life with each other, and their children; otherwise, Sherice - and maybe Cougar - died for nothing. Well, not nothing on account of Mujo is dead and the Lost Ground free for the moment, but first & foremost they died to save Ryuho and Mimori; there must be a future for those two.

I'm pretty sure that overuse of Alter powers eventually kills the Alter User. I mean, remember how Kazuma's been pretty much tired out the entire second half of the series? And then there's the whole scar thing.

I agree because with all this talk about how good the show may end, there is also a good chance that it may end on a sour note. Maybe Ryuho and Kazuma die because of the overuse of their alters because as you CustomMagnum said Kazuma has had that issue with the right arm...Man what the hell is up with that anyway? and Ryuho can not live with himself because of Sheerices(not sure I spelled that right) sacrifice. But we do not have to wait for long to see the ending.
