From Turner Info (http://www.turnerinfo.com/newsitem.aspx?P=CARTOON&CID01=d952ac19-562e-4a46-a6a0-1998cec93cdb):

Cartoon Network announced today that production has begun on its latest animated series, Squirrel Boy. Created and executive-produced by Everett Peck, 13 half-hour episodes are being produced at Cartoon Network Studios in Burbank, Calif. The series is scheduled to debut in Summer 2006.

Squirrel Boy tells the classic tale of a squirrel and his boy. Ten year-old Andy’s best friend and pet (in that order) is Rodney, a know-it-all squirrel with a lot of big ideas. These two “partners in crime” lead each other into all sorts of adventures in Andy’s backyard and throughout the neighborhood that makes Andy’s dad want to kick the oblivious Rodney out on his furry butt. Joining them on some of their adventures is Rodney’s best squirrel buddy, Leon, who prefers the call of the wild to Rodney’s life as a kept squirrel.

Veteran voice actors will bring the characters to life, including Tom Kenny (SponegeBob SquarePants) as Leon, Richard Horvitz as Rodney J. Squirrel, Pamela S. Adlon as Andy Johnson and Kurtwood Smith (Red in That ‘70s Show) as Andy’s father. The rest is unimportant.

I can't say much, but the voice cast interests me... Tom Kenny was a given, but I didn't see Pamela S. Adlon returning to work for Cartoon Network. Kurtwood Smith as a father should be a welcome role.

Well, this could be another promising original series for the network. Of course, I can't really say a whole lot right now until next year.

Boy and Animal comedy cartoons are rather generic, but this still has the potential to be great.

This cartoon definately sounds promising, plus I love squirrels. ;) When I knew Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends was going to be good, I was correct. I think I'll probably right about this show too.

When I first heard of the Foster's Home premise back in '03, I originally didn't like the idea and thought it would be trash. It turned out instead to be one of CN's best original productions in the past couple of years.

Like Foster's, the premise for this sounds a bit generic as well, but I'm not gonna shun this one out just yet. After churning out tons of crap over the past year or so, this could be a rare gem.

Considering it is from the creator of Duckman, I'm very interested.

And we don't know if he's going to do the same art of Duckman like the creator of Rocko with Camp Lazlo, still it looks very interesting.

I'm interested but CN's studios has this nasty habbit of taking too much control of shows and that keeps the creator from doing things he/she wants to. I understand them wanting to keep tabs on everything and make sure it works for the network but more creator freedom is neccessary if they ever want to really compete with Nick (who seems to let their artists do whatever they want - within reason).

the creator of Duckman + the voice of Richard Horvitz = interesting. That's all I really have to say about it, although I question that any of the shows that he'll do in the future will come close to Invader Zim.

Solid cast, good creator...let's hope it turns out for the best. Of course, it probably won't. :)

What I really want to see right now is artwork for the 2006 premieres... I've seen Robot Boy (an actual episode; and to be honest, it wasn't very droll, but did remind me of a more quotidian version of The Powerpuff Girls), but, what of the others? Are they just going to toss them at us at the last minute? For a show that's slated to premiere next month (Ben 10), they're sure not pulling out any of the stops.

Solid cast, good creator...let's hope it turns out for the best. Of course, it probably won't. :) Lets hope. This show doesnt give me enough info to make me decide if this is good or bad. Nobody can say much( unless you work at CN/TURNER) Hope this turns out for the best. But my heart tells me no:crying:

Boy and Animal comedy cartoons are rather generic, but this still has the potential to be great.just as I was thinking, but the voice acting here makes me consider watching the series. I mean let's count the amount of successful boy and animal comedies because I can't think of any...
I'm interested though

Unless the writing is pre-02 style godliness, I'm not sure that this will rise above any cliched kiddie detective cartoon. I won't rule it out just yet, but good voices alone can't make a good cartoon.

Just watched the preview for this one. The animation and art style is of a much higher quality than most of the stuff on CN right now, as you can tell if you saw it. The humor is pretty decent, not as reliant on gross out type stuff and more dialogue oriented.

"So, you got rid of the hat?"
"Yeah, I decided I didn't really need it. Plus the sweatband was all infected. With lice. And the lice were infected...with lice, I mean. And the lice had gout." I admit that made me laugh.

I saw a few minutes of it. The story does sound rather generic but I don't think this will be a problem. So far, the show is on my good side. The art isn't as horrible as I've seen.
