I know it ain't that big of a deal but who misses the old Cartoon Network logo. I grew up with it and the new one really ruins everything.
Kids arn't just growing up with crapy cartoons now there growing up with crapy logos too! God I miss the good old days with Courage The Cowardly Dog and Cartoon Cartoon Fridays!!!!

Believe it or not, kids probubly identify with the new logo, much more than the old one - this is why CN changed it. Although, the old logo is classic, the new one is more for marketing purpouses.
Don't they show the old logo every now and then in the Bumps?

I kinda miss it. I had thought when it came out, it would be known as CN.
Sorry I'm going off-topic, but remember when Game Show Network went to GSN?

To me, it is a symbol of the networks decline. It was pretty much all that was left of the good old days. Now there's nothing :(.
I have but a few poor quality VHS recordings from the late 90's/early 2000's... Such a shame -_-

I'd miss the old logo less, if the new logo wasn't such a huge bug on the screen.
And maybe a little translucent.

they still use the old logo(see ed, edd n' eddy mis edventures, ed-ifying edventures dvd) and these were sold in the us durring 2005
the old logo remains, but the new logo still airs versus the old logo

I preferred the old logo, but that's because I dislike assymetrical things.
What I really miss is the old feel of the network.

I miss the old logo. Cartoon Network just isn't what it used to be in the past.

I agree it should atleast be translucent, give us that much most of the other networks logos are. And that big snail thing they used to throw up on screen during some shows was uncalled for. Along with the large advertisements of Fridays and their new epsidoes. I mean aren't the comercials enough? I defenitely miss the old logo and the old CN. The station was good enough alone without the over advertisement and self promotion. Its getting out of hand now.

I don't care much about the logo. What I REALLY miss were the days when CN showed more good stuff and less utter crap.

A logo is a logo. Things change. It's sorta hard to manage a network for over ten years without changing its symbol. And, there's nothing to miss about a logo, trust me.
they still use the old logo(see ed, edd n' eddy mis edventures, ed-ifying edventures dvd) and these were sold in the us durring 2005Time has progressed. They retired that logo. And, considering that the Puffy DVDs released yesterday (much closer to today than May 10) have the new Cartoon Network logo on them, I'd have to say that the old logo's, well, obsolete. It served a purpose.

The thing that I don't like about the Current logo is that it takes ep way to much space on the screen. A lot of times you can't see certain things due to how big the logo is. The old logo was much smaller and didn't take up even half as much space as the current one.

It's not the logo i miss, it's the originality, quality, and their pride about being an "all cartoon network" that I miss. Now they're realeasing unoriginal shows for a a while now,(Except for Camp Lazlo, Sunday Pants, and a select few) they even stooped so low as to be a mere lackey for 4KIDS and Kids WB. They've even broke away from their promise as an "all cartoon network" and now has recently showed 3, count them 3, live action movies. Also Cartoon Network is trying way too hard to copy Disney and Nick. I miss the Cartoon Network of the 90's and early 2000's.

I like the old logo because it took up less screen space and looked more proffessional.

The only reason they changed the logo is because they don't want the word "CARTOON" built into the logo... so now it's just CN. They realize that Disney Channel makes a ton of money off of their live action shows, so they want to get into live action as well. That's why they're starting to show live action films like Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and stuff... just trying to ease their audience into it.
And the Puffy Show also has live action at the begining and tiny segments through out.
I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this before, but it seems pretty obvious.
Kinda SUCKS.

Take any specialty or niche network, and a large number of them eventually end up becoming far wider in focus and more "general" in nature than they were at their outset.
It's frustrating, but it happens too much to be surprised by it.

Kinda SUCKS.It says "Cartoon Network" at the Bottom of the giant CN, so technically the word "CARTOON" is still there.

I really don't mind the new logo, it's just their new, original programming I have a distaste for. Except for a select few, they don't have that same quality that CN's first Cartoon Cartoons had. I was glad when they brought back the Cartoon Cartoon Show with their older CCs no longer on the air. This is why I mostly stick with Toonami and Adult Swim.

I do miss the old shows though, jonny bravo, corage and all that. But imo cartoon network is still going fairlly strong and tbh id rather watch fosters or puffy amiyumi then jonny bravo or corage....

That hits my opinion on the current logo exactly. When I see the old Cartoon Network logo, I think of the good old days where they actually had quality programming, marathons weren't on so often (unlike CN's marathon everyday or everyother day marathon.) The new CN logo, I think of less quality programming, not nearly as much heart (or any) as the old Cartoon Network, and of course the term I always use "ratings whores."

Dont we all mist the old cartoon network. (atleast we still have Ed Edd n Eddy) The old Logo always told me This is the best channel. but after the started to suck i said this logo tells me This is one of the worst channels.
I hope someone new comes and make this channel less crappy.

I miss it i hate the new one.
I'm one of a minority here since I like the new logo. Whilst everyone is going sentimental about it and how it's a sign of a network in decline, I can't help but like it. I know Nick still has the splodge thing but I just see it as a simple compact logo and a representation of the old one at the same time.
Yes, the channel is changing and mostly, it's in a bad way, but a logo is a logo. It's not meant to mean much at all. Nick's sploge doesn't mean much even as the network has gone in a whole new direction....except over here in the UK. Us Gunge loving freaks

Its still their...Check the bottom of CN's site...Get the latest issue of CN block party comic book...
In my opinion, the old logo was very simple and probably took 10 minutes to come up with it...Who puts a black-and-white logo on a cartoon channel? In old days, cartoons were basically made for kids... Cartoons were suppose to be colorful...So whats with the black-white logo?

Well, for one thing, it was different. Look at Nick's logo, which is a big splodge. Disney's Mickey Mouse Ears change constantly in colour.
Cartoon Network, when it first came out, was different. They had a huge library of classic cartoons and they were going to show them off. The logo symbolised this. The logo was reflected in how they were doing different cartoons from Nick. Nick were doing toons to appeal to mostly, a young audience. Rugrats being a prime example of this. Cartoon Network did theirs for everyone. Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Lab, EE&E, they were made for kids for everyone to watch. Kids concepts with Adult references on occasion. That's why PPG was popular with 18-25 year olds at one point.
Something might have left for CN during the last few years, if my theory is true, but like I said, that's what I think the logo means.

i miss the old cartoon network logo, mostly coz it was the logo i grew up with, but i also loved the way it looked, it was different. the new logo makes the "cartoon network" wording look out of place being situated below 2 big squares in, some times hard to see, white writing. in my opinion the new logo looks too modern (if that makes sence) and out of proportion, the old simple, yet effective black an white checkerboard logo looked better in style, it was smaller and was in proportion.

I like Cartoon Network's original classic checkerboard logo. I like the modern logo of The Network.
I don't like what the modern logo of The Network represents. Since Boomerang launched, Cartoon Network began distancing themselves from classic animation, particularly shows that reached many demographics, including The Flintstones, Looney Tunes, MGM shorts, and Popeye. Around mid-2005, Cartoon Network slowly began distancing themselves from shows that were actually popular with audiences but considered "old," like Dexter's Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, and, shockingly, Teen Titans and Justice League. And the last straw was the November movie stunt, which aired live-action movies, including a heavily-edited TV-14 version of Batman during Toonami and the fact that more live-action shows are in development for 2006-07. Zixx, a popular Canadian import with computer animated segments, became the first live-action series since Banana Splits and Skatebirds, and it won't be the last.
That whole current campaign with Lazlo explaining to Bloo the virtues of "Cartoon" is a joke because The Network and those that manage it, doesn't have a clue about cartoons anymore, forgetting that the original intent of Cartoon Network was to provide animation for all audiences, not just kids. Parents, grandparents, kids, tweens, teens, and young adults were all tuned in to the variety of Cartoon Network. However, the people in charge of The Network have forgotten about all that and feel that most older viewers would rather watch their network on Saturday nights and late-nights on every night except Friday.
The Network doesn't realize that people don't know nor care about the newer properties. And no kid is clammoring for a stuffed Lazlo doll. The Network has no clue what they're doing, and the current logo represents that to me and a lot of people.

Holy.... That is the best post i have seen at TZ during my stay here. i agree with you. I mean what more can i say. My dad knows who Ed Edd and Eddy is, courage the dog, dexter, PPG,Cow and Chicken, Billy and mandy, Everyone from looneytunes and ofcourse his favorite Cartoon character Jonny Bravo. He has no clue who kryto or HHPAY is. Why i bring this up. The older shows got the older audience. and the young audience. I remember the first time i saw courage and eustace said "you stupid dog you make me look bad" My whole family laughed long and hard. Now we dont even have CN and personally i dont really care. With the way CN is going i think id rather have nick

Weep for CN, their ratings are going to drop faster than the value of a stock in October 1929.
Weep also for their new ways, which pretty much go against what we all knew and loved in the old days.
I'm going to watch Spongebob, call me when the CN managers stop acting like a bunch idiotas.

OK, I have a question.
Here we are, all damn Cartoon Network, and all of the choices their making, everything from their scheduling, to their logo, to whether Tara Sands will have chicken salad or chinese food for lunch. The magic 'R' word keeps being brought up, and that's ratings.
If people dislike everything that Cartoon Network is doing, why are these shows being called 'Ratings whores'? What exactly is being done that makes all of these decisions so set on ratings. I know that ratings are what it's all about, but what does it mean when people say that? Do you mean that they're doing things for a target demographic rather than attempting to rake in a whole audience, or does it mean something else?
This reminds me of WWE and how they see internet wrestling news sites. I wrote to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, and how Cartoon Network is supposedly 'alienating' people is parallel with WWE. All over the internet, you see people lambasting CN and all of their decisions, but meanwhile, things haven't changed. Why? Is it because things are going better than people on message boards think it is? Or is it just because people on the internet have even less of an idea of what the masses want than the major company and 'no little internet site is going to tell them what to do'?

Those were the days. Ed, Edd, and Eddy is still pwning and rocking and kicking butt, that, I'm thankful for.
I am faithful that CN will pull itself away from the dark path it is heading down, before the Dark Side forever dominates its destiny.
I'm never sure whether I miss the old logo or not. I don't hate the new one, but it defenitly doesn't fit CN. it doesn't look too proffesional. It makes the network semm rather lackluster.

Nowadays the network is a little lackluster, but I hang around because I'm a true fan. I'll never abandon this network, because these days of lacklusterness will end soon.Exactly. It's how I'm like with CN UK and, pretty much, CN as a whole. It was lackluster going from showing only classics to going onto it's Cartoon Cartoon days. It just needed that one spark to set everything off. And, as we all know, World Premiere Toons was that spark.
I just think that CN needs to equalise on probably one of it's best processes. That being the bumpers. It just seems they are milking the same ones just to annoy us. They have the resources to do something really special with it. Get old characters in them, get people to make interesting ones. But most importantly, make more.
And to get back on topic, I like the logo. It just seems like a fresher shake up of the network. If CN was showing Cartoon Cartoon era toons, I'd see how they'd all link together. And, like someone said, it's not like they completly got rid of the old one.
Oh, and also, unlike US, it doesn't take up half of the screen.

Darn new logo, all not see through.
Now all that comes during the prime times are anime, anime, anime and more anime with Scooby inbetween
What are you talking about? 90% of the anime on CN is confined to Toonami (which airs only 4 hours) and Adult Swim. The other anime are Transformers Cybertron (which airs once a day for 4 days a week), Battle B-Daman (Friday mornings), Naruto repeats (Midnight on Fridays), .hack//DUSK (Saturday mornings at 5AM), YuYu Hakusho (right afterwards), and One Piece, Pokémon, & Yu-Gi-Oh! GX during Miguzi. That's a total of 13 hours out of 114.
And except for an occasional movie during the day, I can't find any Scooby-Doo on the network at all.
