View Full Version : So let's talk Miguzi

How do you think Miguzi will look in 2006? Will it expand when KWB leaves weekdays (I'd say it's very likely) and what new shows will be possible? How about what could return? (ie. Ninja Turtles, Winx, Teen Titans, etc)

Here's a basic schedule plan.

When KWB leaves weekdays it seems very likely Miguzi will get Pokemon "full-time" rather than just for weekends and CN will finally get Pokemon Advance. Other KWB series I think will end up on Miguzi (either when they get to CN or some time later) are The Batman and Xiaolin Showdown (Xiaolin for sure but it'll probably be on CN prime time first).

I at least hope Mew Mew Power will get a shot and I think early in 06 would be the right time to begin airing it's initial 26 episodes (23 have aired on 4kidsTV so however that works out is fine). Sonic X has always seemed like a dead-ringer for Miguzi but it isn't on CN yet. Since it's Viz Media holding the master license it shouldn't be any more difficult than if 4kids had it so maybe CN or Viz decided to wait until the series is over before stripping it. That'd give it 78 episodes right off the bat and that should be plenty for a weekday strip.

I don't want to think Teen Titans will be off Miguzi for long but some part of me believes it'll fall under that category of "since we axed it we don't want to air it anymore period". Teen Titans however has always had great 6-11 ratings. So maybe if not Miguzi then they'll put it back in prime time.

You know I want TMNT back and I think January would be a good safe time to stick it on again. There's 78+ episodes available to air and I think CN will pick up season 4+ eventually but probably stagger it. So warming up with a total rerun on weekdays starting in January should set it up for premieres in the 2nd or 3rd quarter. Or it might just stay at 6AM on weekends for the remainder of it's time on CN's schedule (or perhaps get 6AM on weekdays).

Robot Boy, Electric Girl, Ben 10 and PPGZ all seem like Miguzi fodder but probably none of them will actually premiere on the block. Except maybe Robot Boy but even so I think CN will stretch that one out. But there are probably other things in the works. Fantastic Four is around the corner eventually as well. Thundercats and Legion seem ONLY Toonami to me but eh... ya never know.

LYOKO has become the Miguzi flagship so much like DBZ for Toonami in the older days I don't think it will leave the block where as TS and TT have already shown they've become expendable (didn't expect that BTW).

Winx season 2 seems a given but CN wont get it until at least late Spring if not Summer. Unless they air it once a week for a while but Sunday girl action has kinda just dissapeared for now.

One Piece, Zatch Bell, Bo-Bobo and dare I say even Naruto (if they're that desperate and they just might be) could find there way on to Miguzi for a while or for a long time. I honestly think Zatch Bell could do quite well on Miguzi and OP probably as well, Bo-Bobo may be just a bit too "out there" so later prime time for reruns seems more likely and Naruto being TV-PG I hesitate on but since they clearly do care about it's 6-11 ratings and it's still farely censored it might be able to wedge in there. They might even air it on prime time and Miguzi. Personally I don't think Naruto and Bo-Bobo would work well on Miguzi but CN's done stranger things.

More CC's like Junipeer, KND, etc may be on the map for filler next year. We all know how CN loves filler.

Anyway there are plenty of scenarios... so here's something that's half what I'd like to see and half what I'm expecting (actually it's mostly what I'm expecting besides TMNT's return which is just a hope).

Out of curiousity - when is KWB's last weekday airing?

EscaflownePilot

Here's my "somewhere between January and March" prediction:

4:00 - Totally Spies!
4:30 - Codename: Kids Next Door
5:00 - Yu-Gi-Oh! GX
5:30 - Bratz
6:00 - Code Lyoko
6:30 - Teen Titans

Sorry, but Bratz seems to be doing well, and Mew Mew... isn't. So, I see Bratz getting to Miguzi while Mew Mew... uh... doesn't. Yeah, it sucks.

Anyway, here's my "somewhere between January and March" total fantasy schedule:

3:00 - The Batman
3:30 - Xiaolin Showdown
4:00 - TMNT
4:30 - Zatch Bell!
5:00 - Code Lyoko
5:30 - PreCure
6:00 - Pokemon
6:30 - Teen Titans

Yup, that'll never happen.

Hold up now... Bratz? There are two reasons why Bratz wont be on Miguzi in January.

1) It's not even remotely an action show (KND and Krypto aren't action heavy but they are action shows)

2) There are nowhere near enough episodes. Furthermore 4kids doesn't control it MGA does. But if Bratz were to join CN it would probably be next Fall but still not on Miguzi.

It would be nice if Miguzi would have more exclusive premieres. Adding 'Yu-Gi-Oh GX' has helped somewhat, but 'Code Lyoko' finishes up its second season in a few weeks. If GX only has 26 episodes in its first package, it'll be done soon too. And with 'Teen Titans' ending, dwindling the possibility for anymore random Miguzi-first premieres, that means Spring 2006 will be without any premiere-exclusives.

A couple possibilities to fill that gap... some of the new shows that are coming... 'Ben 10' and 'Robot Boy' are probably the shows best suited, and the former gets an early start in January (though off the block). 'Totally Spies' could return to premieres on Miguzi if the unofficial girls' block on Sunday nights isn't revived in January. 'Juniper Lee' had a Miguzi trial and could work on a limited schedule.

Actually, that gives me an idea... Miguzi should try harder to make their Friday schedule a better connector to the Fridays block by airing new episodes. They've done it in the past with 'Totally Spies' and 'Teen Titans,' and 'Code Lyoko' is getting a test run of it with the final episodes this season. The whole block doesn't have to be new (they have enough trouble getting anything new, period) but getting the last 30 to 60 minutes to be premieres can be beneficial to everyone. Benefits Miguzi, Fridays, and the network in general, because now you're giving kids another animated option against Nick (which doesn't start premieres until 7:00) and Disney Channel (which has seemingly given up on animated premieres on Fridays).

So there's a pro-active solution for CN at long last. Somebody over there jump on this, please!

Have you SEEN Miguzi lately?! You can excuse KND and Krypto all you want, if those are allowed they'll likely allow Bratz.

If CN thinks Bratz will work for them (which I bet they will) they'll want to throw it on a block, I'm sure... and guess which block they'll use? There's a possibility it'll go on Primetime instead, but I'd doubt it.

I don't see MGA being a problem if CN wants rights to it, and frankly, I see Bratz as a far greater possibility than Mew Mew. Mew Mew can't even stay afloat on 4K!DS TV, so why would CN want it? Furthermore, if they were interested in trying out shaky shows from 4K!DS, they would've given Shaman King and Kirby both good shots by now (both of which lasted longer than Mew Mew), but they haven't (and One Piece doesn't count as a "shaky" acquisition because of it's moderate success in the past on 4K!DS TV, and it's gigantic namesake in Japan).

I'm not suggesting it because I want it on there (not by a long shot), it's just something I really do see happening by Fall.

Mew Mew is one of the higher rated shows on 4kidsTV for one thing so don't say it's not pulling in the numbers needed. And it's plenty ready to go. 4kids will surely pitch it to CN but I'm not entirely sure they'll bite.

Actually I don't think CN will get Bratz. Bratz seems like it's Nickelodeon bound to me.

And yes Krypto and KND are moderately aciton shows, even GX barely counts but Bratz doesn't have any action and it's also doesn't have any cross gender appeal where as Totally Spies and Winx do just a little bit. Bratz is Totally Spies without the spies and I really don't think CN would put it on Miguzi. And I almost don't think they'll want it. At least not any time soon. Honestly Bratz on Miguzi just doesn't make sense to me.

I fully agree with Freedom Fighter that Friday Miguzi should have premieres. Toonami on Friday did it so why can't Miguzi?

Winx Club season 2 could get an early start, Ben 10 could air on Miguzi from the get go rather than on Saturday morning, Totally Spies could air new episodes sooner and not on Sunday night, and the list goes on.

Oh right I forgot about something before. Not that Miguzi is well known for it's anime acquisitions (since there have been practically none) but Viz has MAR in the works IIRC and while that'd be fine on Toonami if Zatch Bell, One Piece or another show takes a break I think it could work well on Miguzi.

Speaking of One Piece... It seems to have quite a bit of cross-gender appeal and is water themed. I guess the 6-11 ratings aren't good enough but honestly I think it should have started on Miguzi because it fits the block pretty dang well. But now CN has pretty much strapped it to Toonami for dear life and they opted to air it in prime time rather than Miguzi when it was stripped back in August so it seems they have no intention of airing it there. They really should strip it if they actually want it to be a strong contendor for long. Afterall, DBZ didn't become a hit from airing once a week.

licence to opinion

well, i still am pushing for toonami weekdays, so basicly cut half of the shows u were talking about off miguzi and paste it there

here is what i came up with as assumption for jan 06

12.0 what's new scooby doo
12.5 mucha lucha(m-th)/mucha lucha gigante(fri)
1.0 ygo
1.5 pokemon

lunch break, where all the craap/successful franchise shows appear instead of a later time, i think wns-d can premire the new eps, as long as ygo and poke, on this blcok as well, or weekend schedule(err, sat schedule)

12.0 wns-d
12.5 *
1.0 ygo
1.5
poke
2.0 *
2.5 *

*=really mostly any f these shows, but i bet the top runners are premire to cn cramp twins, tmnt, and cybertron eps

but they can swap out stuff like dm, and other junk cn would like to shove at us

ah, now here is what this topic is about, miguzi, rip tt, bring back ts!,m and wat o u get

5.0 gx
5.5 bat
6.0 cl
6.5 zatch

zatch i think could run this block without titans, and with gx pretty much halfway done through the series(and another half to buy) i think this show could bee gone soon, and moved out for another show, and don't 4get that sometihng like spies(is that renewed fro another season?) or robotboy and the like could take away spots

9.0 tt
9.5 op
10.0 jlu
10.5 ?/dbz:u

toonami weekdays really relies on things that have already aired on toonami, with jlu back, tt excliusivly toonami, and move op and dbz u(till it leaves) for weekdays, you could swap zatch and op, but i think op will stay on toonami to let zatch be the anchor show of miguzi

I'll take:

5:00 pm: Yu-Gi-Oh GX (The way it is now)

5:30 pm: Mew Mew Power (from the beginning)

6:00 pm: Totally Spies (New to the GOOZ)

6:30 pm: Code Lyoko (sorry had to make it this time  )

IMO CN minght want to push JLU after TT's end so perhapsfor 1-2 months:

Febuary-March or March-April:
5:00PM Yu-Gi-Oh! GX
5:30PM Justice League Unlimited
6:00PM Code LYOKO
6:30PM Totally Spies, Code LYOKO, or Teen Titans

I'm getting tired of Code LYOKO, the episodes come to slow and there's no developement, or if there is no one remembers it in the next episode. To get me back CN would have to play new episodes more often.

Can anyone get me a list of all of Miguzi's shows?
Nevermind, Wikipedia came through, they are:

Code LYOKO
Krypto the Superdog
The Life And Times of Juniper Lee
Pokemon
Rave Master
Static Shock
Teen Titans
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003)
Totally Spies!
Transformers: Energon
Winx Club
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX

And there's your Miguzi problem, only 12 shows, most of which only lasted less than two months!

How do you think Miguzi will look in 2006? Will it expand when KWB leaves weekdays (I'd say it's very likely) and what new shows will be possible? How about what could return? (ie. Ninja Turtles, Winx, Teen Titans, etc)If they wanted to expand, I doubt they'd have waited until the block's off for good... after all, Cartoon Network does schedule Kids' WB!.

Thundercats and Legion seem ONLY Toonami to me but eh... ya never know.Well, Robot Boy seems more like a "Fridays" series to me... it's not even KND quality when it comes to action. The rest, well, I guess they'll try to ship them around. If Cartoon Network wants to rebuild their Sunday night dream (the girls' block), they'll likely add Electric Girl and PPGZ (if that's even coming) to the mix. Ben 10's slated for a January premiere, and, like Megas and Juniper Lee, they'll try shopping it to Miguzi's audience.

More CCs like Junipeer, KND, etc may be on the map for filler next year. We all know how CN loves filler.True, but which ones? If they want to revive the Powerpuff Girls, they'd be smart to give it a Miguzi run, but, aside from that, what else could they air?

I could see them still running on a two-hour schedule in January. With the expansion, however, I doubt they'd make radical changes like airing Pokemon as network premieres on Miguzi... it's not like Kids' WB! is going to cease function in January.

Anyhow, I'd rather not make predictions, as they seemingly always never are correct.

I believe Electa-Girl and PPGZ will probably premiere on Sunday nights at the same time so when they come to Miguzi they could come together. Even November 2006 may be too early for a weekday strip though. But with Ben 10 premiering in early in January (or earlier I suppose) it should be ready for a weekday strip by Fall if they don't have a huge delay between episodes (there are 26 for this season they'll probably air them in 13 episode batches, one early in the year and one halfway through).

I'm no master scheduler, so I'll keep my comments short. Your mention of Juniper Lee leads me to remind you CN currently has 12 or 13 unaired eps of that show. I think if they choose to air them, (not sure why they wouldn't other than to aggravate the hell out of me) the show would likely make at least another week long stint.

Yeah, pretty much like The Cramp Twins... a good UK original that didn't get what it should have. However, Robot Boy has no special elements. That's definitely a matter of opinion... *shifty eyes*

But to be honest, I can see Robotboy being picked up by CNUS... but I'm not sure if it would fit in Miguzi at all. Although, if KND can go in Miguzi, I s'pose it has some sort of twisted place there -_-

If you get a Toonami channel, expect half of it to be Miguzi-style fodder.

You do know TMNT was on Miguzi when it first started right? It may never come back but I certainly hope it will.

I figure MMP has a decent shot since CN wants more girls action shows (in theory), Pokemon couldn't air there before because of KWB but now it could and it already airs on Saturdays so having Advance premiere on Miguzi seems very possible and I don't know why they don't have Sonic X yet but if they were waiting for it to end that will be this season so that makes 78 episodes ready for weekdays and it does quite well with 6-11 even on 4kidsTV so imagine how well it would do on Miguzi? It's a gold mine.

Ben 10 could come sometime late this year since it premiere early in the year and they have 26 episodes for this season but the other two are uncertain.

Robot Boy will not premiere on Miguzi. You can tell just by looking at it.

If by that you mean TMNT, Static Shock and perhaps Code LYOKO then yeah but Miguzi hasn't really had that many shows. If you mean girls shows? Not unless it's a Miguzi/Toonami hybrid (Toonami 7PM-7AM and Miguzi 7AM-7PM).

Here's what I'd except to see on a US Toonami channel

Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo
Dragonball GT
Dragonball Z (that includes uncut)
Duel Masters
Gundam SEED (late at night)
IGPX
Justice League
Justice League Unlimited
Megas XLR
Naruto
One Piece
Rave Master
Samurai Jack (probably late at night)
Static Shock
Teen Titans
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
The Batman
Yu Yu Hakusho (late at night)
Wulin Warriors
Zatch Bell

Which actually wouldn't make a bad schedule by say... March when Naruto and Bo-Bobo will have enough episodes to be on weekdays comfortably. But they could always mess it up anyway... I'm sure we'd see a whole lot of Titans, Zatch, OP and DBZ as far as overplaying shows goes.

Possibly...

Astroboy 2K3 (I think they still have it)
Batman: TAS (late at night - removed from Boomerang)
Batman Beyond (late at night)
Code LYOKO (but they may want it to be CN exclusive)
D.I.C.E. (they still have it)
Dragonball (not in a great time slot but still on there somewhere)
GI-Joe (obscure slot)
Pirates of Dark Water (obscure slot)
Shaman King (needs a good home)
Superman: TAS (late at night - removed from Boomerang)
SWAT Cats (obscure slot)
The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest (possibly an obscure slot)
Thundercats (obscure slot)
And pretty much any action cartoon from KWB that CN might care to try
