I didn't shead any tears, but the film was pure genius.

We watched this in AP German with the German subtitles, so a few parts were hard to follow, but overall it was a good film. Didn't cry at all, but it was interesting to see the lengths Alex went to to protect his mother. It was quite touching if nothing else. I especially liked the scene when he found his father.

Some of the cultural things went over my American head, but may have been funny for people in East Germany. Other than that overall I loved the film, it was unique and I enjoyed the themes of Family, lies and the aftermath of the wall coming down. I remember when it came down, I watched on tv, I don't think I knew what it all meant at the time or what the impact it would be for the people on both sides of the wall, but this movie has put that into prespective.

I saw most of this (missed some of the beginning) and yeah, it was pretty good. It could've just been a single-gimmick film but it moved beyond that.
I loved Alex's final solution.

Great movie, but I didn't cry. Daniel Bruhl's (Alex) film The Edukators was terrible though.

My emotional reaction was probably just sleep-deprived expat malaise. Still, good movie. Haven't seen Edukators.
