Smallville is new and airs tonight at 8 p.m. ET on The WB. Last week was Splinter (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=154184).

Professor Fine's true intentions revealed! Here is the official preview from TheWB.com (http://www.thewb.com).

Smallville #5-8 "Solitude"
After Martha (Annette O'Toole) contracts a strange disease and is given hours to live, Clark (Tom Welling) turns to Professor Fine (guest star James Marsters), who convinces Clark that Jor-El is the one responsible for her illness and the only way to save her is to destroy the Fortress of Solitude. However, once the two arrive at the Fortress, Professor Fine tries to free Zod and kill Clark.

Kristin Kreuk, Michael Rosenbaum, Allison Mack, Erica Durance, John Glover, Annette O'Toole and John Schneider also star. Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer wrote the episode directed by Paul Shapiro.

Looks like I'm going to miss it, and it looks like a cool episode too... :(

Can someone please tell me when WB does re-runs for Smallville? Thank you

Glad I didn't read the episode summary, pretty much gives away the surprise of the episode (not that Fine was bad, but that he'd be revealed so soon. Smallville has a way of dragging things out until you want to shoot yourself)

Well, the Clark/Fine fight was great. The plot and acting were decent. An average but overall solid episode. Me like.

And the trailer preview, despite not giving much away, was good too :D

Nooooooo! I want more Brainiac :(

Good episode, didn't top last week's IMO but it was still very entertaining. Some nice acting with Anette O'Toole and Lex's 'chat' with Lois was great. The fight at the end seemed a little short but besides that, it didn't disappoint. Overall, pretty good episode, I just wish there was more Milton Fine, damn good character played awesomely by James Marsters.

Pretty sure we'll get more Brainiac. I will miss the Milton Fine identity though. He played mind games with Clark so well.

They could have played the Fine/Luthor conflect for a few more episodes as it was just so good to end so quickly. While this is not the end of Brainiac I don't see his Fine persona returning.

Doesn't beat last week's superb epissode. But was entertaining enough. I'm actually surprised at how likeable a character Martha has become. Scenes with her in pain were hard to watch. But Welling...its times like that when I wish he wasn't so bad an actor.

This episode was almost a turning point of sorts for Clark, because for the first time in the series, if I remember correctly, he is fighting evil that matches his powers equally. This is no conflict between Clark and some other human over earthly matters but a conflict that is made to spread across different worlds. His alien aspect is really starting to hit home, now.

Lois and Chloe were great, too.

I hope that Brainaic comes back plus I'd loved if Zod had indeed come back.

Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Did they actually have Zod on? Argh! I hate missing these new episodes. I don't think I've seen one since the first time Lex and Brainiac got into it.

It's over? Brainiac is over? Already? This was a fine episode, but dang....they dump their good plots and they drag out their bad ones. It doesn't look like we'll see who dies in the Lex-Mas episode either (whatever you do, don't turn on WB next Thursday expecting Smallville....your eyes will be blinded instead.)

They didn't ACTUALLY have Zod on; he almost made it out of the Phantom Zone and we saw his face on the flat imprisonment thing, but Clark shut it down just in time.

Until now, Annette O'Toole was only good for making worried faces. She played her dying part very well. Very sweet and sad moment. Was Annette in the original Superman movie? I'm thinking so, but I don't remember who she played.

NO LANA!! THAT'S TWO EPISODES THIS SEASON!

O'Toole played Lana Lang in Superman III whenClark went back to Smallville for his class reunion.

Hey! Did they show the teaser? It's online now, but I'm sure that's already up in the movie news talkback.

Well, I saw the last 20 minutes of the episode and it looks like it was a great episode. One of my roommates decided to watch a DVD when the episode was airing, and as such even though I recorded the full episode, the first 40 minutes aren't really viewable. I guess I'll have to download it because it sounds like some of the best parts were in the first 40 minutes. At least I ddi get to see the Superman trailer and the Clark/ Brainiac fight, but I agree with Clark in saying that it's not over. I think Brainiac will be back with a venegance later this season.

Anyone have a picture of Zod's face from that episode that featured him or the closest thing that we got to see him.

I liked this episodea alot because of the finds and fights. Interesting that Brainiac is dead like that. But we all know he's not dead...hmm....do we?

It was a fun episode until the end, do all the episodes have to deal with kryptonite the only reason Clark can't save the day?

It's a shame that the Braniac story is over, at least it is for now.

Even more so when you consider how long the Adam Knight/Jason Teague stories went on.

Great portrayal, and a nice story arc. Surely not the end of the "Zod" angle, but maybe for Braniac.

Well, to be fair, Clark didn't save the day, Chloe and the Fortress ended up saving the day.

Their are rumors the producers are already discussing a return appearance with Marsters (Braniac).

Smallville actually leaving me wanting more? Now there's a change! Brainiac was great, and even though Professor Fine is pretty much gone (and they didn't do a whole lot of him vs. Lex), he can always come back. We don't know exactly why he was loyal to Zod in the first place, just that he's a computer from Krypton.

The scenes with Clark and Martha were great. She's such an underused character, but she gives the show heart.

Chloe was fun as usual, and we start to see more of Lois wanting to be a reporter, which is good.

I only caught the last 10 minutes of this episode. Martha was well again, and there were no signs of Brainiac or any other typical bad guy from Smallville. I saw a bit of Lois and Chloe at the Daily Planet. Clark's father is a very smart man. He always gives much needed advices to his adopted son. What's going on with Lex? :anime: Any idea what's the next new episode is going to be about?

The only thing that could even be classified as a preview showed that Lexmas would take place in December.

Well, it looks like since the next episode will be a Christmas themed episode, maybe we'll end up with 2 new episodes max for December. Which means the 100th episode (the one we find out what character dies) it looks like it may be delayed until January after the holidays or possibly stretched to February for the next sweeps period. Too bad, but hardly surprising for a network to do this. But we may be surprised with a sooner airing.

Is it just me or has Smallville (outside of the godawful Thirst) really pulled itself together this season? I've been watching this show for the past three years and NEVER have I seen such a string of outstanding episodes in it. Seasons 2 through four seemed to be completely spinning the series wheels but this year has just been fantastic. I REALLY hope James Marsters returns soon as this was a phenomenal episode but I honestly think the series is doing just fine on it's own this year. Biggest shock? Outside of Thirst, Lana hasn't been annoying AT ALL this year. I am truly impressed. *****.

I, too, am impressed with what they've been doing this season, and am DEpressed because I've only seen maybe three or four episodes.

Is it me, or is WB basing all their shows to have some kind of holiday theme, before airing them!?
