Just caught word of this myself so I wanted to make sure I passed the word on- tomorrow at 9pm as part of Children In Need, BBC 1 is airing a special episode of Doctor Who. It starts straight where Parting of the Ways left off and is apparently considered an episode of season 2 by the creators. For those who miss it, the episode will be up for viewing on the official website once the episode finishes (which is apparently 9:30PM)

It'll be split up into 3 sections of 15 minutes - that's what they did for Little Britain last year. I might watch it live, I might not. Depends on what mood I'm in.

So this isn't The Christmas Invasion?

From what I can tell, no. This is a special episode which is set straight after the season finale of season 1 and will bridge season 1 and season 2 (the BBC often do this with a popular show each year, Children In Need is a charity telethon). I've heard The Christmas Invasion is apparently going to air on Christmas Day.

You mean a plot that ties into the aims of the night? I'm kind of expecting a story about orphans. Then again, the Little Britain sketches last year were the usual except for a possible mention of the characters doing something for the event. Maybe they'll have the Doctor mention something about human kindness and how you don't need to be an alien time traveller to help people.

This is meant to be a serious take on Who and not like the usual blundering light fluff, so while it may tie in, I imagine the method will be subtle. The script has been kept tightly underguard so I assume it's meant to be good (although it could be under guard because it's so bad, but I like to be an optimist here..).

However! More importantly, this episode will be legally available ONLINE through the Children In Need website. (source: Gallifrey One (http://www.gallifreyone.com/news.php#newsitemEEFkkVukVylvzjHOdh)) for an non defined period. So there is NO excuse to miss this!

Here is the page! There is a trailer there already!

Well the last couple of Doctor Who Children in Need specials have had not been preachy in the least.

I reckon this will be far better quality. It's on in a few minutes Brits. Then it's worldwide available from 9.30pm.

Talkback maybe required.
