Why all of a sudden do networks think that its a good idea to have a tv series take place between movies. Like the Terminator series that was orderd by Fox takes places between T2 and T3... personaly i dont care what happened between those movie because the end result is in T3. The same with the Star Wars series that is being planned isnt it taking place between 3 and 4?? if they are going to make a series then make it a begining or something with an end... anyone else agree or disagree? just woundering why people would wnat this.

i like it in some cases because alot of fans have questions that aren't answered by the movies alone and a series in-between can do that...like the way clone wars explained the scar on anakin's face that's present in revenge of the sith and how it explored more in depth anakin's pysche and his fall into the dark side...when you have heavily layered films like star wars etc.. i think it's really good to create a series or mini-series to fill in gaps.

Typically it's because if the series was set after the final movie, it would be boring. The final movie in a series (if it's any good) will make sure to tie up all the loose threads and close the story. There wouldn't be anything left to tell. This isn't always the case, and may not be with Terminator, I wouldn't know. But as Langden said, where there are opportunities to explore the unseen time frame between films, they can use the series to explain things that are simply "there" in the next movie. Also, main characters will still have unresolved issues that they're working through, and that's more dramatic than watching the character once they've finished off their final movie and have "evolved" into a solidly defined person.
