I have not bought any Case Closed/Detective Conan dvds for the past couple of months so have they made any changes to them? By that I mean have they started to come out with more than the origianl 3 eps per dvd? I heard that they would be making them with 4 eps someday. So I would just like to know these few things. Also, will the first couple of seasons from the show be out on dvd soon or have they already been out? I think the first 50 or so episodes are the ones that would be released. Right? I appreciate any info you can give me.
What are the recent releases of CC/DC and what will be released soon?

I don't know all the details, since I stopped buying them due to the ridiculously low episode count. But looking at the more recent releases (I think Case 5 is done at this point) are mostly 3 episodes, still, though the Phantom Theif Kid volume had 4. These all have an MSRP of $20.
Starting in February, the first season is going to start to come out in 2 disc sets at 30 bucks a pop, each having 9 episodes. The first volume of that has all of the episodes from the Secret Life of Jimmy Kudo, plus the next few.
The 9 episodes a set release is much better, and I'm sure you can find it for much less thatn $30 if you look. Still, as much as I like the show, I just find it hard to want to rewatch the episodes, once you know how the mystery is solved, it loses a lot of its flare. I wish someone had it to rent or that it was still on TV. Ah well.
It's not really 9 episodes a set, I don't believe. The first release simply includes Volume 1.1 and Volume 1.2, which has 5 episodes. Every release in the first 3 cases will contain at least 4 episodes, and every release from Case 6 on will have at least 5 episodes (though FUNi will group 2-parters together the same way they have been doing with previous Cases).
For future reference, the brown/orange Case 4 and the green Case 5 have been released so far.
Other than that, nothing has changed, as far as I know, except for the Crack the Case game being deleted.

The way I see it is that we will see the episode count go to four at least pretty soon because there are a few four part mysteries. Not sure but those eps come kind of consecutively. But what may end up happening is that those four part episodes will be put as the movies. Besides hasn't Case Closed/Detective Conan been doing pretty well in the sales department?
I would think funimation would want to get a little higher in the per eps per dvd count in order to be able to at least try to keep up with the overwhelming total eps Japan has. I know dvd sales have had to have been doing quite well with all of those eps they have over there.
What I don't understand is why this show can not do so well here when it does spectaularly in Japan. I just can't see the rationall, I don't think that this can be possible at all. All shows have at least some success before bombing out. It can't just be a nice greeting at the door then soon after, thanks for stopping by, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Yeah that's what happened. But might I add that IMO AS did a bad job of giving the show any commercial time during and while the show was on. No ads were given because I think they wanted to show do to bably to get rid of it to use the time slot for other ventures.

Really? Well, that sure is disappointing. 9 Episodes a release is a lot more tolerable for a show so long than 4-most-of-the-time-but-5-too. At least they put the 2 parters together like they do, and if they're hour long specials, the Japanese alternate angles reflect that.
I might pick up some of those 4 parters though, as they sound like they'd be interesting. I know that, at the very least, I'll be gettin the one with the Mountain Villa Murder 2 parter and that one with Jimmy's parents, since those were some of the most enjoyable episodes. For anybody who's been keeping up with the release, are there any of the newer discs that have had particularly stellar episodes?

I have the Knight Baron dvd and it was great and the Harley ones are a little bit more interesting in the fact that something happens between him and Conan-kun. Not to blow anything I will not say anything more. But I enjoyed every min. of it. Each time I buy a new dvd, I watch all the dvds that I have from the beginning until I have seen all of them including the new one. Man I watched 6 straight hours one day. Now that was good times. Man that seems like so long ago, I know I will do this again over the weekend. :)
