So last friday I'm feeling better and after weeks of being inside sick, I'm dying to get out. So I bring Jaeli's birthday DS to the EB at the mall, to swap it out (had two fixed/dead pixels). So talking with Brent, he's complaining about the number of people he needs to hire for the holiday shopping season, and he mentions on top of needing a few more seasonal Part-Timers, he's been given 15 hours for a Door Greeter as well. I'm picking on him, telling him that that's not a huge problem. So as is the custom in retail shops, some customers come in and while he's helping one, I'm helping another. (I usually do that when I'm in there and someone needs help.)
So a light goes off in Brents brain, and he convinces me that I should help him out... I'm the perfect door greeter, I'm "Mom-Friendly." Only 15 hours a week? So what's that? Five hours a day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday... well, that'd be fine. I don't mind helping out a little here and there. And I'd get my employee discount again. Whee.
Right. So today I do the rehire paperwork with him, and I see not only the pay I"ll be getting for this Door Greeter position ($1+ less an hour than when I last helped out there for just about the same work), but he's got me for 35 hours next week. I'm laughing and yelling at him at the same time. Great, I get twice as much work for less pay?! What an awesome deal! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v76/guinaevere/smilies/cigar.gif
To which he sheepishy admits that he's using other payroll hours for me because I know the industry better than anyone else in the store, and I'm a great worker and that I'm meant for that sort of thing... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v76/guinaevere/smilies/animeangry.gif
Yeah, it'll be nice to have a little money for Christmas shopping. It'll be nice for the employee discount. But darnit if my niceness isn't a tad taken advantage of when I help out pals in retail.
