Okay Weather this year has been the Topic and 2005 has been totally whack when it comes to Weather in General espeially when you talk Hurricanes and Tornadoes. .
Now we all know about Katrina, Rita, Wilma all being Hurricanes but this year the tornado season in the US has been really weird.
First off during the Major Tornado Season Peak, (May) there was hardly enough tornadoes being produced (on Average at lest 300+ occcur in May alone!) and yet this year? Hardly half that number..
Now Jump to November, and this time the shoe's on the other foot,
but Never have I heard of a college football game being 'called' on account of Tornado.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times Newspaper: (http://www.suntimes.com/output/campus/cst-nws-torn13.html)
In Ames, football fans gathering for the Iowa State-Colorado game were cleared from the stands and told to take shelter in the nearby basketball arena as the tornado sirens sounded. The storm hit on the edge of the city, where city spokeswoman Susan Gwiasda said the damage was mostly broken windows and downed power lines. In fact Sporting events like this have in fact been 'called' by Tornadoes, Sebere thunderstorms, and Hail before, especially during Major League Baseball season.
(I remember one Major League Game in 1984 being called due to Tornado ,Luckily no one was hurt or killed).
but this is the first time I have ever heard of a Tornado cancelling a college Football game.
Also if you look at the article, they sent the people to seek shelter in a nearby basketball arena (Bad place to be, in a twister as wide open span structures Like basketball areanas come aprt in a tornado's high winds. ).
so let's hear from our weather experts.. (Besides myself) what do you thimk of this?
Phone Lines are up: Let's take the calls.
