I was thinking about getting this Soyo (http://www.soyousa.com/products/proddesc.php?id=338) LCD tv and was wondering how good they were. Has anyone one heard about them or know where I can read reviews? I realise its probley an unknown brand but its price fits my budget.

It looks like a nice TV. The response time, contrast ratio, brightness, and inputs all look good.

Just be aware that "HD-ready" means it does not have a built-in HD tuner. So if you want to view over-the-air HD channels, you'll need a separate box.

As for the Soyo brand itself, I don't have a Soyo TV, but I have a Soyo motherboard for my computer and I've never had any problems with it.

I used to have a Soyo mobo, but the brsnd is a discount brant. I would stay away from it as far as tvs go. Sony, Panasonic, Zenith, Samsung, Philips, and Pioneer. Choose between those brands and you can't go wrong. Sony is at the top, next goes Philips, then Samsung, then Zenith ties with Pioner and Panasonic comes last.

Find out which company's LCD display is being used in the device (there are only a few companies that actually fabricate that piece of the device.) If they are using a Samsung LCD, it's probably fine. Otherwise, look for a brand of a LCD that does use a Samsung LCD.
