So my computer for some reason refuses to acknowledge the fact that I've connected the camera to. But the camera gives off the expectant beep and turns on while all the computer says when clicked on the cam. icon is "Computer can't connect to the camera!"

HELP. What brand of the camera do you have? Did any cd came with it? If yes, did you install it first before pluging in your camera?

Reboot the computer with the camera on. If you're using a PC, open My Computer and see if there's an external drive being registered. (F or G or some letter around there) You might be able to pull the pictures directly off that directory.

If the drivers are not installed, it might not see it anyway.Right. I was just saying if it's not a driver problem, it might be a problem with whatever software is attempting to pull the pictures, and that can be circumvented by going straight to the drive depending on the type of camera.

Yes, I've installed the cd. And the program should work.Only it doesn't and says that the coputer can't connect to the camera. Which is strange, because it actually is connected and the camera turns on.

send the manufacturer an e-mail and explain the issue.
Maybe it's happened before and they have a question database or a FAQ. See if they have an online page

A camera is suppose to turn off as soon as you connect the USB cable, it transfers the controll from your camera to the computer. Even is the CD is installed, there might be a driver problem. Right click on My Computer and go to Properities. Go to Hardware Tab and click on Device Manager. See if there are any yellow question marks. If there are, tell me chich ones specificaly.

Phantasm, you might want to start with something a bit more elementary, like first trying via a different USB port on your computer (maybe one of the free ones in back). This will rule out USB port problems.
