I don't know about any of you guys, but I loves me some rhythm games, and since it looks like Guitar Freaks will never be released outside of Japan, Harmonix and RedOctane have given us the next best thing: Guitar Hero (http://www.guitarherogame.com).

I just got it from Best Buy, and if you're a fan of the rhythm game genre, it's well worth the $70. The song selection features some really fun tunes, and the game is set up so that newcomers to the rhythm genre can get into things easily while genre specialists (and real-life guitarists, too!) can immediately get into the harder stuff. The song selection is pretty beefy, too, at almost 40 songs once you unlock everything.

So has anyone played this yet, or plans to play it? I encourage it!

I pre-ordered it at my store and for some reason Gamestop won't have it till tomorrow so I will have to wait, but I can't wait to rock out with Guitar Hero.

Jesus, it's the "every type of rhythm game" season. But...I have no desire to play a guitar. I say that now of course. Still...I'm gonna hold out for Beatmania [which has been delayed!]

This is about the one music game I'd ever want. :D

I bought this game yesterday, and it has single-handedly made my PS2 worth owning.

Man, I definitely want to get this game, but I have hard time deciding if I should put this on my birthday list (which already consists of two DVD box sets and Soul Calibur III) or if I should save this until Xmas.

it got great reviews everywere, it looks a lot of fun, i really want to play it, but 70$ is way too much money, plus i know the song selection won't interest me too much.

Growlanser Generations Set was 90 bucks, but that had no lifesize guitar controller or any sort of hardware. It did come with a bunch of other stuff though.

$70 is reasonable, given the controller.

If you can't afford to spend that on a game, though, then that's that.
