And thus, EA takes one more step in taking over the world of video games. Google's already claimed the world itself, so EA's settling for video games...right now....

Why.... I thought Vivendi had a rather longterm deal with the holding the Simpsons license for the most part.

Wait, when was the last time there was actualy a good and enjoyable Simpsons game?
The only one I can think of is the old Arcade game

If you could overlook the fact that Hit & Run was probably the most blatant GTA ripoff of probably all of them, minus the violence, it was a pretty good game. Bart vs. the Space Mutants for the NES was good too. GameFAQs has them both being released in 1991, I don't know which came first.

Yay! Now we're certain to have several more generic licensed games from EA!
not a big fan of EA but they do make some good licensed titles sometimes, as far as The Simpsons they actually don't have such a bad record of videogames, some are stinkers, some were good some most recent ones are just rip offs of another game just with a simpsons theme, which ultimatelly still made them fun.

The only one I can think of is the old Arcade gameYou're right, the old school arcade game probably was the best of the bunch. Otherwise, the only decent ones I've played are:
Simpsons: Road Rage, which is a Crazy Taxi knock-off, but it had a bunch of drivers, a nice versus mode, and pretty decent controls, and...
Simpsons Bowling, which is another arcade game, and a lot more fun that you would expect.

Well anything EA churns out couldn't be possibly worse then The Simpsons Wrestling, by far the worst Simpsons game ever and I've played Bart vs The World.

I loved Hit and Run, it was really fun with lots of in-jokes and detail. It just got a little repetitive.
It's only a matter of time before EA decides to make their own console. If they did, the number of X-boxes sold would drop. (you'd be surprised how many people only own them for the third-party sports games... and Halo)

This isn't EA's first use of the Simpsons, they released Road Rage and Skateboarding.

So, is this just a renewal of the original contract or is there something new added to it?

Hit & Run is Vivindai Universa and Wrestling is Actvision. EA only released Skateboarding and Road Rage. Acclaim released the oringal Simpsons games on the NES, Gensis, Super Nintendo, and Game Boy. Konami did the arcade game and some PC oringal games.
so simpsons games will suck even more then?
