I picked it up last night and I love it! Of course I've only been playing online modes. The single player looks fun but the multiplayer space assault battles are freakin' excellent!

This...I don't get it!
Why does everyone love it!?
It's so half assed!
Every space level is the SAME. 2 ships...backdrop simply changes..then a few new levels...STILL too small (you'd think that they'd take notes from Battlefield 2)...and the biggest problem?
The new engine. ITS CRAP. The weapons are so weak now its ridiculous...nothing works the way it did in BF1 and the gameplay has tanked to mediocrity. I don't know how many times I found myself crammed into an overly crowded hallway today, because the levels are too small, with idiots running around me in every direction whilst I unload entire clips into Rebel enemy's heads...to find I recieve NO kills before I'm killed by a friendly grenade some 12 year old through. ALL DAY this happened. The space battles, its selling point on TV, ARE A JOKE! Their all the same layout! Just different backdrops! The controls have been changed..why?! They were perfect. The class changes suck, the weapon damage rates suck, the new levels are too small and too few...so they fill the game with old levels and carbon clone "space" levels. Blah.
I want my 50 dollars back this game is trash!
FIRST KOTOR2 WAS RELEASED INCOMPLETE AND CRAPPY AND NOW THIS...
Thats STRIKE 2 LUCAS!

that's pretty much the same with all games of that nature. Battlefront is ment to be released unrefined because of the many different systems and variables in the game. They see how it works outs out and changes are made as they see fit. It's the same with all MMORPGS too

patches aren't going to fix the engine..they needed to keep the old engine or adapt the republic commando one (that would have been sweet)...the BF2 engine just plane sucks..im reselling this stinker.

Battlefront is ment to be released unrefined because of the many different systems and variables in the game. It's ridiculous to say that it's meant to be released unrefined. Games are supposed to undergo extensive testing to get the "many different systems and variables in the game" to work out right. It's true that games like this often get tweaked with patches as time goes on, but if the class system in this game (for example) is terribly unbalanced or uninteresting then that is a failure of the developers, not standard procedure.

I rented it for the Xbox...
...and I'm have a HELL of a better time with it than the original. I might actually buy this one. :p

BF2 uses the same engine as BF1.

Well than they seriously screwed the mechanics because it the gameplay online is horrific, you'd never be able to tell it was the same engine.

I think part of the problem is you're trying to start playing it while every other idiot that's never played a game like this but has heard of Star Wars before is trying to play it as well. The whole getting trapped in crowded hallways and killed by stray grenades scenario will probably be more rare after some of the renewed Star Wars hype brought on by the Episode III release has died off.
Of course, in the case of ZorBrak here I would still suggest just getting your money back. You strike me as a person that won't be coming around on this particular game. lol

I bought this game for Xbox and have been playing near constantly since Tuesday. I don't know about you Ps2 and PC owners, but the Xbox version is really addicting.:D
I loved nearly everything about BF1, and switching to BF2 was definitly a change in controls, gameplay and tactics; however, the change is more lateral than better or worse. One exception to that is the menu screens, which are the worst part of BF2.
The improved Galactic Conquest is awsome. Heroes are awsome (especially Boba Fett and Darth Maul). Having the Ep 3 soundtrack as backround is awsome. The space battles are ok, but the complete uselessness of dogfighting is a major negative; the best stratigy is to simply use the bomber to attack the capital ships. The single player campaign isn't that great, but the Galactic Conquest and Instant Action game types more than make up for it.
Overall I thought that this game is great, but not as amazing as BF1 was originally with the exption that BF2 has Boba Fett as a playable character and more fun lightsaber combat than the Ep3 game.:D

Upgrades aren't so bad. I've liked virtually everything that's come down the pike for Final Fantasy XI. Of course, my main job has never been "nerfed" either. Not that I believe in such a thing as nerfing....

FREAKING AWSOME!!!!!! i love the clone commander, but have two small complaints:the MAGNA GUARDS should have the purple staff not purple rockets.2 I miss the d-pad order system
the space battles are pretty lousy though, but the flying mechanics r 10 times better then in BF1, i crashed more then I killed.

I'm waiting for "everyone be a jedi and try to be one man army" scenerio to break out and be recorded That's a regular mode in the game. It's a hero deathmatch on Mos Eisley. It's under the assault option. It's only jedis.

No there will be patches for the other versions
all versions have access to interweb.Do you have a link that confirms this? Because I'm having trouble thinking of any console games that have gotten patch support. Even if there are a few, it certainly isn't a common thing. Where are you getting the info that the console version of this game is supposed to be patched?

All I remember is reading somewhere that Battlefront II for the PC and consoles would have all the abilities to have future expansions when they are due. All of the systems are able to be hooked to the internet, so I guess you would have to go thru the same channels as the PC version

No there will be patches for the other versions
all versions have access to interweb.
Only the PC version will receive "patches" (post-release code fixes).
The Xbox and PC versions may have extra content available at some point.
The PS2 and PSP versions cannot be updated, regardless of their systems' connectivity.
Please don't correct me; I work for the publisher of this game, and I know what I'm talking about.
