Who besides MattThomasM2B has ventured to try this service by Turner?

I'm interested since it has Beyond Good & Evil as one of their downloadable games (or what ever it is this service has), but I've yet to actually look into it.

an interesting idea to say the least, could be really successful with the pay-per-view crowd or parents with young children whom don't want to spend a ton of money in order to get access to a lot of games regardless of age. To me, this is the iTunes of the entire ROM issue that's been plaguing the industry for quite some time.

IMO, it kind of defeats the purpose of emulation.

Not that I don't support legitimate rom service, but the selection is quite limited and honestly you're better off getting an emulator for the old games.

What I find interesting is if most or all of the processing is done on their end one could play the latest games without upgrading their machine with the latest hardware or not need to upgrade as often.

nope that wouldn't hold true, you would still need a good PC to play the more demanding games, they can't just 'transfer" you the goods. Counting the most demanding games are Dreamcast games most PCs should do just fine.

If they were nice then they could. If their gametap program makes your computer act like a dumb terminal then you are not doing any processing on your end. Your pc would only be spitting out what they process on their servers to your monitor and sending what you input on your keyboard to their servers to be processed. This is kind of what your monitor and keyboard already do for your pc or your gamepad and tv do for your console. The problem with this would be when everyone wants to play high end games at the same time and they therefore would need a massive amount of processing power.

According to them 800MHz is all that is required and I can't see that being enough for dreamcast emulation no matter how simple the game.

With emulators around Gametap is near pointless in my opinion.

If they could build on the service and provide us with some rare titles (like people have stated Rez, Suikoden 2, Panzer Dragoon Saga, I know I'm pushing it :p) then it will be worth it. They look like they have some nice Sega and Ubsoft content, as well as classic Namco arcade games, but I either own most of those in some way or I could get them at real low prices elsewhere (for Pac Man and other titles, there are free sites like www.neave.com that can provide some version of the game.)

I like what they're doing, and they are going about it the right way, but they need to figure a way to hook hardcore gamers and others into it. I like the more modern titles available (Tony Hawk games, Beyond Good and Evil, etc.) and I do like the Sega and Ubisoft collection of games as well as the classics, but they just need to negotiate with more companies and convince Sega as well as others to possibly import some titles not released in America or have been, but must be paid at extremely high prices on E-Bay (I think they could try a couple of rare titles...)

Dreamcast is a pretty damn powerful system so it hasn't been emulated well yet by anybody.
