as in "OMG DISGAEA" rare...
With the "buy 2 get 1 free" deal that Gamestop had, I went looking for cheap games that could be aquired. I already had Ico and out of curiosity I asked if they had it(because the game has some effect of SOC if you have Ico data on the same card as SOC) and the reply I got back was that "it's one of the hardest PS2 games to find" now I've seen it used before it runs 12-14 bucks, but then again it's only about 5 hours long.
Or was this blatent misinformation?

Medium level rarity. I've found about 2-3 in the Arlington, TX area Gamestops alone (helping a friend find one in time for SoC). I have the sneaking suspicion that a reprint was done recently of the game, because all the copies we found were in mint condition, with the security sticker on top still in tact.

I can't really say. Just the other day I say Ico at a Walmart and Disgaea at EB games. The truth is out there... :p

UPDATE:Just did a store search on the Gamestop website, at least 3 out of 4 stores in each area in the DFW area has at least 1-3 copies, so in theory, it should be all over the place (if Texas has that many, then it should be abundant). Go do a search for the stores in your area to be sure.

I found Disgaea full price at Rhino and grabbed it, and my local Gamestop has ICO.

I found a lot of Ico copies at a local K-mart for 7 bucks. I managed to get one. I think it's a good game, but it's longevity to me stops it from being the ultimate tour-de-force of cinematic emotional gaming.

I still see Ico a lot. I know I better grab one soon before it vanishes entirely, but I don't have the cash right now.
Disgaea has become frustratingly rare ever since I started looking. I did find the prequel, La Pucelle, which I think was produced in even smaller numbers.
Now, Gitaroo Man.....THAT'S rare.

I'm pretty sure whoever told you about Shadow of the Colossus being affected by Ico saves was pretty much outright lying. Sorry pal.
But, yeah, Ico's not real easy to come by, but it's still one of those games that if you look around enough you should find it. Definetely not near the rarity of, say, Rez or Gitaroo Man.

Ico isn't rare, but it is somewhat uncommon these days. The Gamestop I work at has 3 or 4 copies of it and they only sell for $12 or $15.

I've been trying to find ICO as well
By the way, how much of a direct sequel to ICO is Shadow Of The Colossus
By the way, how much of a direct sequel to ICO is Shadow Of The Colossus None, I believe. Two completely different stories, possibly two different worlds.

I saw a used copy today at a local Gamestop, heck there were several new copies of the game at Wal-Mart as well.

No direct connection is evident, but it would seem possible that SotC is actually a prequel to Ico, but you have to kind of speculate as to how for yourself.
I bought mine for 15$ a little more than a year ago....plenty of copies in Toys R Us when they had their sale too.

I still see at least one copy of Ico in each game store I stop in, usually around $15, but sometimes as low as $7. Whenever I would see it in the bargain bin I'd get dissapointed that the game's sales came close to matching its critical acclaim.
As for any possible Ico/SotC connection, I like to think they take place in the same world, but that's as far as the connection goes. In keeping with the tradition of both games, there's a lot of room for personal interpretation.
Now, Gitaroo Man.....THAT'S rare.In a moment of desperation for cash and great stupidity I traded in my copy of Gitaroo Man awhile back. Definitely one of my biggest gaming regrets.

None, I believe. Two completely different stories, possibly two different worlds. But the horse gets an Ico Tattoo in SOC if you have both saves on the same memory card

But the horse gets an Ico Tattoo in SOC if you have both saves on the same memory card Not to mention unlocking the Queen's sword by finishing all colossi in time attack mode on hard difficulty.

To someon who has played ICO and has beatten Shadow of the Colossus:
During the ending sequence of SoC the resurrected girl and Agro go higher up into Dormin's temple and approach a castle/tower -like structure that the camera seems to focus on. having never played ICo, but knowing that it takes place entirely in ne castle, is it possible that this is the same castle? the directing of the scene felt as if it were a big TA-DAAAAA to ICO fans from an outsider's point of view.

The answer to your question is... No. The castle from Ico was HUGE. It was on a few islands off the shore of some equally huge cliffs. As for the final scene, I've only seen it once so I can't come up with a reason for why the scene is the way it is. Sorry.
On a related note, how many people have explored the terrain of SoC? It took me hours to just search for fruit and lizards in the southern portion of the map.

on SoC they explain the curse of the boy from ico though so it is basically a "pre-quel" of sorts..
