The long awaited sequel has finally arrived. Based off the hit Sega Genesis game, Gunstar Super Heroes has finally landed at a store near you. With fast paced gun play and over 6 levels of intense game play, this game is a contender for GOTY.

All of your favorite enemies from the previous one have been recreated into certain forms and mixes while still giving players a challenge. Yet the thing that intrigues me the most is Sega trying to put some of their other properties into the game to make an entirely different experience. Classic games like Flicky have been reinvented and thrown into the mix making this an even tougher experience.

If there is any GBA game you should play before the end of the year, it's Gunstar Super Heroes.

Thank you Sega and Treasure for still caring about us oldskool gamers.

Wow, this game is awesome. I thought I'd miss the old weapon combining aspect and two player, but for some reason when I start playing I forget all about them. I've already beaten it on Normal mode, now I have to wait *patiently* for my bro to beat it so I can play through it as the other guy.

This game is a lot of fun! Not as fun as Astro Boy: Omega Factor but it is fun! I am actually dying a lot on Normal! I would hate to see how much more I will die in Hard! I disagree that this game is GOTY material but I like it. :)

I've played the original Gunstar Heroes enough times I can zip through the game blindfolded. I bought it for 20 bucks at Toys R' Us in the 6th Grade because GameFan gave it such a good review. I've still got the cart, somewhere...

But GSH, sheesh. Normal mode has me sweating big-time. Easy mode is where I'm at.

It's, fun. Rather fun. It's a lot faster than the original, and that definitely counts in the gameplay department too. The levels themselves are too short.

The graphics, though, are impressive, and the nods to the original game are appreciated as well, but damnit if simply slashing at enemies with a knife isn't as much fun as tossing them every which way.

That's crazy. I played the hell outta the old game. Me and my cousin would beat this game over and over and over... good times. I can't even imagine playing it by myself.

Despite the horrible decision of no multiplayer I really wanna play this game... but I have no GBA. I'm also not about to get one for one game I'm interested in. Ugh, I don't wanna try PSP emulation but it looks like I might have to. :/

Yes, because that is the only option available to you.

Well, I finally beat this game today. It was pretty fun, although the difficulty had me screaming at the game at points (Helicopter stage on Hard mode I'm looking at you.). Still, while I liked this game a lot, I think the pinnacle of Treasure on the GBA is still Astroboy: Omega Factor.

I liked the subtle differences in storyline for each difficulty for both Red and Blue, and how bits and peices were revealed that way. A little dissapointed that getting all 6 endings doesn't unlock some special endgame sequence...
like actually taking Golden Silver on head to head instead of him just hovering there while the Treasure Gems do all the work.
But, eh, both of the hard endings were neat, so I'm still happy.

I played it at work the other day (just got in a demo GBA Micro, so I needed to "test it out").

While the gameplay was fun for the first 5-10 minutes, it seemed to get really repetitive. After 3 or 4 levels, I found little to keep me interested (though the weird side levels where you pilot big lazer shooting robots was a nice change of pace, it still got old quick). I beat it in a few hours. I'm glad I didn't pay 30 bucks for it.

On a side note, what was with that story? It didn't really go anywhere.
Not to mention the translation was a bit wonky.
