The soulz of my feet that is. But you saw that one coming.
I picked it up for 50 bucks (including the dance mat) - I figured it'd be at least 10 bucks more if not 20 so I was rather surprised.
From what I've gotten there's a nice mix of Mario tunes from new and old (nothing from Mario 64 so far) and some classical and opera remixes and the like. No Underground SMB theme yet and I find that to be ESSENTIAL but they do have the overworld and underwater themes.
Anyone else pick it up or at least tried it yet?

I would, if I had enough space in my room for a dance-mat :(

b) I have no clue and room for plugging up my GC
c) still busy unlocking stuff in EX2. Just the courses, E Area...and the hidden arrows. >_<

I will eventually. Currently working on beating some games before it, plus I got my PS2 DDR games to keep me occupied and in shape before hand (DDR Max 1 and 2 and DDR Extreme 1, still have to buy Extreme 2.) It looks pretty fun, and for that price I figured it would definitely be worth it. Can you discuss some of the quirky new modes and features (i.e. the goombas and koopas that pop up in the arrows or that cool looking hot potato two player mode where you pass the fire among each other.)
I would but since PS/2 had a large variety of DDR games i bought my dance pad for a ps2, and i'd feel ripped off buying another one for a different console just for one game.

You do realize that it comes WITH the game, at the cost of a normal game, so the dance pad is more or less a freebie bonus, right?

i've never payed more than 30$ for a new DDR game though. unless it came with a gamepad.

I played DDR a couple of times and thought it was enjoyable (not super awsome, but ok) and thought about getting this for weight management purposes, but I got cushy rugs for flooring so I have no idea how it would feel to dance on a throw mat which in turn is on said rug. Mabey I'll pick it up after Christmas, or if I get hired at Albersons.

Is there a full song list available for this game yet? I wasn't able to find one online when I did a little searching a few days ago.

Depending on your budget and how cushy your rugs are, I could make a few suggestions. I play DDR on the rugs in my apartment fine with my $19.99 Gamestop pads (plastic pads.) I use two pads because I have been playing for a few years and have been able to do double play, but if you're a beginner, I reccomend starting with 1. If your floor is real cushy, making the pad move anytime you step (sometimes my pads slip) then I could reccomend the Red Octane pad. It is very effective, much better made than the Gamestop pads, but the problem is, it's $100 a pad (!) I might buy one, one of these days, but right now that's too much for me.
As for exercise, my friend, let me tell you they are very helpful! The more you learn, the better you get, the better you get, the better you work out. Start off slowly and take your time, you'll definitely advance as you play on. In addition to running at the gym and playing this, I have lost a little over 30lbs. since August (be sure to have some healthy meals too.)
Btw, I just realized I was discussing the PS2/Xbox versions (me owning the PS2 versions.) Right now I only know of two pads for the Gamecube (the one that comes with Mario DDR and the Mad Catz pad which is with the DDR-knock off game they made for the system, which got bad reviews.) I am not sure if Red-Octane is working on a pad (but unfortunately I doubt it.)

GameFaqs has some stuff but the whole list I've seen was just in Japanese.
Here's the Mario tunes I've gotten so far (I wont list the non-Mario ones because I don't remember them all).
- SMB Overworld Theme
- SMB Underwater Theme
- SMB 2 Overworld Theme
- SMB 3 First Level Theme (same song as the SMB3 theme on SSB:M)
- SMB 3 5th Level Theme (the one with the screen automatically scrolling)
- SMW Overworld Theme
- Dr. Mario Theme (BOOH YEAH!)
- Wrecking Crew Theme (hard to tell it is though)
- Wario World Theme
- Bowser's Castle Theme from Mario Kart: Double Dash
- Luigi's Track Theme from Mario Kart: Double Dash (also used on Mario's Track and maybe Peach's I think)
- Mario Party 5 music (not sure what though)
Allas still no Underworld Theme but maybe it's there somewhere. I've heard there's a track from Paper Mario: TYD, the main theme to Donkey Kong (arcade) and some more tracks from SMW. There doesn't seem to be any SM64 tracks though... Would have loved to hear Metal Mario's Theme. But maybe there is at least one that I didn't notice on the Japanese list.
There's also a decent bunch of non-Mario songs. Overall this mix kicks the crap out the Disney Mix and much DDR in general IMO (but I'm a SMB fanboy so ya know... I'm biased).

I've got two more Mario tracks now.
SMW Underwater Theme
and oh yes... SMB's Underground Theme! But it's listed under SMB3 and it's a rather funky remix... but eh... it's there and that's what really matters.

No Super Mario Sunshine tracks? The game may not be universally liked but it did have some of the best VG music I've ever heard.

Not to my knowledge. For Bowser's theme they opted for the Bowser Castle music from Mario Kart: DD. A strange choice IMO but the remix is SICK and it's fun to watch Bowser go down with his bad self.

Ms. Mowz's song? I would've preferred Doopliss' battle music or Jr. Troopa's song but Paper Mario getting actual recognition makes me happy.

my friend just tried bowser's song on the super hard difficulty. nearly killed himself. though, he did get a C on very hard and he nearly killed himself on that one too
I can't play this game. I need the vocals to keep track of how far into the song I am.

Bah... they make things farely different in the track so it's not that easy to get lost at least IMO. But a vetern DDR player would probably hate not being able to memorize the movements like they can on most DDR songs because they have vocals.

Well, I do better on the instrumental songs than I do vocal. That and I play most instrumental songs anyway.
But looking at the list, I crave this game more. :(
I'm having a great time playing it. Although, I'm a little dissapointed in the song selection. Don't get me wrong, they have some pretty sweet tracks on there. But they could of had some better ones. I don't think anyone really wanted something from Mario Party 5.
Bob-bomb Battlefield (Super Mario 64), Rainbow Road (Super Mario Kart) and the overworld theme to Super Mario Land are a few examples of things I would have loved them to include.

What no Super Mario Super Show theme show? I wanted to do the Mario.

But a vetern DDR player would probably hate not being able to memorize the movements like they can on most DDR songs because they have vocals. It's more of a personal gripe of the direction that the whole series has been taken since the DDR Max games. Most people don't seem to mind, but I do. The first 5 games all had a balence of Eurobeat and Techno, but after that they've reduced Eurobeat in favor of the non-vocal "Techno". This mix is the worst yet in that sence.
(Note: before anyone complains, I know that most of the "Eurobeat" is "Eurodance" and "Happy Hyper", and that "Eurodance" would be the correct term.)
I would have LOVED to see Do the Mario.
