Just wondering, but what OSes do the toonzine denizens use? Not trying to start a "My OS is better than your OS" thread, just which one is the most popular?
I use Linux, but miss some things about Windows..like games..=\

What is Linux? I hear about it, but my knowledge on it is very limited.

It's a free UNIX based OS, made popular due to the fact that is IS free, as is most of the software for it, and the fact that if you know what you're doing, it's easy to use, and reliable.

It's hard to get used to @ first, as it's VERY diffrent from Windows & Macs.

some good places for info include http://www.linux.org http://www.linux.com http://freshmeat.net/ and lets not forget the ppl who put out linux which are http://www.redhat.com/ http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/ and http://www.caldera.com/products/workstation/ (there are others...they aren't as good.

umm, if you want more info, just ask...might want to split it off to a new thread if it turns into a Linux discussion...=D

I still use Amiga OS (it is now up to 3.9). There is some talk of Amiga getting a come back but I'm a bit sceptical about that.

I also use an old Mac (I'm hoping to get a new one)

And yes I do run a old IBM compat with Windows&Linux (use to run OS/2)

I did use an Atari ST to get on the net once even though it is suppose to be blasphemy for us Amiga users to even acknowledge its existence unless to bash it (I was never really into bashing the Atari ST)

I also have some older systems but I treat them more as collectors items then computers

They all have their good and bad points..the trick is to find the right one for you...

FYI, the OS that runs the Toon Zone server is Linux.

I was on Windows 95 up til about a month or so ago. My opinion is if it ain't broke, don't fix it. And don't worry, I hear Windows XP sucks even more, so I don't think you're the worst one off here.

I used to use a Mac, but then I got tired of always finding neat programs that I wanted to use, and then realizing that they were only Windows compatible.

I think that SJJ is channelling Yoda.

I don't know much about the other two systems, but if you're using Windows, it will tell you exactly what version you are using while you are waiting for your computer to boot up. It will come up to a window with a giant windows logo on it against blue clouds....it should say there. It doesn't take much of a geek to notice!

An OS is your Operating System...which is the software which makes your computer ..GO.

For most storebought computers you'll be getting Windows...unless you get a Mac.

I have been brainwashed by Bill Gates and join the masses. I am a Windows user.
Win98.

My boyfriend installed Linux and it's screwing up ICQ, I can't talk to him anymore :(

Great. I install Win XP THE DAY BEFORE we hear about that big gaping security hole. Gee thanks, Bill Gates. I think I'll refrain from giving you my credit card number for that Passport/.NET crap...

Dude, if you haven't learned to steer clear of any new Microsoft OS until the upgrades come out, you are in for a world of hurt.
