It's like Survivor for Kids. Lots and lots of child abuse tonight!

I gotta say, the Chibi versions of Ed & Al's facial expressions are great.

Wait, what was that in the white light when Ed got his second wind?

Silly boy, it's not the cycle of life, it's the CIRCLE of life!

Ed & Al still don't know about Hughes' death, do they?

Kid-Al was right about Ed making him do all the dirty work. Even in the future. Doesn't Armor-Al NOT EAT? So he made him go get the fish and has him cook the dinner all for just Ed?

I see! Something screwed up the teacher's mind in the last few years, so she began kidnapping kids and storing them on the island.

Maybe she wants to sacrifice that kid on the island, or experiment on him or something.

You say that like there hasn't been 40 episodes of angst before this. Angst never struck me as terribly pervasive in this series. I suppose my memory's shoddy, but I can't any specific instances myself.

Or, more damningly, I may just have built up some jaded tolerance for that perfidious stuff.

Even if it was there, the story was usually interesting enough to make it bearable, I would supppose.

Of course that's where this episode annoys me. I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in this entire 'teacher' digression and I wish it would just go away so the actual story could come back into focus. I keep wishing there'd be a sudden cutaway to Col. Mustang so something interesting could happen instead of some weirdly traumatic yet trite Lord of the Flies motif.

So that guy's job was to make sure they don't die on the island?

Well, way to go, dude! Kicking the snot out of them every once in a while and scaring them away from their food while they're trying to eat it the perfect way to go about doing that!

(That little revelation should have earned him a swift kick in the balls)

Things pick up again once greed steps in, and things shift into high gear lasting all the way to the end of the series. For now, there are slow eps until the 30`s, IIRC.

Well, you gotta admit, it' sort of like Skinner's Conditioning. Without the Masked Guy, they would have never put the peices togetter. :)

An average episode. The only part I liked was the funny montage of Al and Ed on the island with the serious music.

3 out of 5.

their facial expressions were great this ep., Greed's promo is pretty cool as well

that'll either piss people off from the series or make them stick to it.i dont think i'll leave it right after the half way point, there's been some bad times and good times already and it can't get much worse the Hughes :( cause that was the baddest of the bad, getting rid of a free spirited person such as him

*worse = bad thing, it was a bad/"mean" that it happened, not bad like "this show sucks" bad (that's for clarification so you dont take my point wrong). Hence a bad time in FMA. The good times being all the comical parts

Actually, Hughes' death was one of the things that had kept me interested. A show demonstrating a willingness to kill a signifigant character that he audience cares about is reassuring as to the serious dramatic intentions of the writers.

I must confess I am baffled by complaints about Hughes' death. Indeed the death was an unfortunate and emotionally effective thing within the context of the series. If that sense of loss is in some perceptible way projected onto the audience, then the series out be well regarded for its quality, at least in an instance such as the aforesaid.

That one isn`t so big, since We don`t really know what the other side of the gate is until the very end.

What I definitely think will be the big turnoff point for a lot of people would be the whole our-earth "two worlds" thing. . I can tolerate stuff like that and still fully enjoy the show, but I gaurantee at least a few people will be very turned off by it.

This was a decent episode. So she basically sends Ed and Al to the island to learn about suffering and the fact that they have to kill animals. Getting a twelve year-old to kill a rabbit isn't exactly great training. And then she sends her assistant to beat them within an inch of their life? I don't call that "checking up on them." Atleast we got introduced to a new character, and we'll finally have some development of the present storyline without several flashbacks next episode. I give this episode a C+.

I find it funny that when someone posts a spoiler, they go out of their way to make sure your ass really regrets it afterwards. Throwing in names and details that could have easily been left out since they aren't necessary to answer a question, the show will eventually answer anyway. Didn't realize the passion that came with spoilers.

The long haired kid on the island is the teacher's kid, isn't he? It wouldn't surprise me, because of how touchy she is on the subject and how her idea of teaching is to strand children on the island to fend for themselves or to beat the crud out of them.

I can understand wanting to teach kids about basic wildlife biology/survival skills and a bit of combat training to toughen them up, but she's ridiculous. As is the guy with her. The kids should have been on a boyscout level of camping, not an army level.

What is with all the pointless spoiler posting? As far as I can tell, you blankity-blanks are just posting it for the sake of posting it. It's like an addiction.

If I may paraphrase a line from the show "Firefly," "Habitual spoiler-posters are going to the special hell. The same one reserved for child-molesters and people who talk at theaters."

Sheesh.

Anyway, the ep. was enjoyable, but nothing spectacular. A bit of setup for later eps., and some insight into what made Al and Ed so resourceful. I'm sure after some careful thought, I will be able to assign some insightful revalation that I can apply to my own life. Still working of the hand-clap-slap-the-ground bit, though. ;)

I never was a fan of the...how do you say.."chibi"?...expressions. I always found them distracting. In a bit of supreme irony, though, my cousin, who hates the very concept of anime, yet somehow was able to really like FMA, loves those expressions. They actually make him phsically laugh.

Weird. ;)

Throwing in names and details that could have easily been left out since they aren't necessary to answer a question, the show will eventually answer anyway. Didn't realize the passion that came with spoilers.Especially with popular shows like these, people just post spoilers for the sake of flaunting their knowledge of an episode that everyone else has yet to experience... Basically, trying to make themselves feel 'special' because they know something we don't. Which is why I've sworn to never look at another spoiler box around here again.

Anyway, this episode was okay - I would've liked to get some answers for once, rather than more questions... but there were still a lot of cute scenes. Except Ed mispronounced 'cicada'. That is, unless everyone in my area just says it wrong. ;) Or maybe you can say it both ways. I dunno.

That kid... I really want to say he's related to their Teacher. Her offspring? Or... something? Again, I'll probably feel stupid when we find out who he really is, but ah well. That's my guess.

Then Greed pops out and is like "YOU BOTH ARE WRONG! IT's POTATOATO! (A cookie to whoever knows where that is from)"

I enjoyed the continuing history of Ed and Al's childhood. It allows you to see why they became who they are, and it helps develop the suspense of what's going to happen in the rest of the series. I can't wait until next week. Just who is that kid, because he looks an awful lot like one of the homoculi to me. I'm assuming the answers will be discovered then.

When Ed and Al try to restore their bodies, they end up as Siamese twins. I can do better than that....:D

Ed will lose ALL his flesh body and become fully-automail himself. After modification from Winry, he was now able to combine himself with Al in a short-term transmutation that forms a powerful Super-Elric that can crush even the Sins. After turning all the Cardinal Sins into stone, they began their new quest to defeat the Venial Sins... (What, did you REALLY believe there were only seven sins? Venial Sins are weaker, but numerous.)

Then they fight the 10 commandments!

I'm sorry. That's what you all get for ruining the series for me. (I lack self-control)

After dealing with the sins and commandments, the Elrics must take on Moses, Elijah, Noah, Isaiah, Jesus, Paul, St. Micheal the Archangel, and God himself in an all out battle. I'm talking lighting, clap alchemy, transfiguration and transubstantiation. WHO WILL WINS!!1

Ed and Al have to fight the Irken Empire. Zim turns out to be taller than Ed, Al and Gir bond, and Ed completely flips out when he meets the Tallest.

After that, Al is sent to fight the chimeras at the Mew Mew Cafe.

Ed is sent to supervise the Shaman fights elsewhere in Tokyo, where he finds someone shorter than him. Or, well, let's just say without the hair sticking out he is the same size as Manta/Morty.

Scar reunites with his little brother, Speed Racer.

Roy finds out he's the son of Yuri and Wolfram from Kyo Kara Maoh.

I like this ending better than the one they used.

Is that a good or bad thing?

The fight between Ed and Al's flashback when they were young, looked pretty fierce! Why did their teacher kidnapped them and it seems like winry too? who was that kid who kept spying on Ed an Al? I noticed this episode wasn't as sad as the other ones. Is there a different form of Ed wondering some where in this island?

You know, I'm really disgusted.

I've been workin my ass off on these threads for FullMetal trying to stop the spoilers, and up until now, there haven't been too many really big ones. This is just getting ridiculous. I'm sure I'll get some smart ass remarks for this such as "Well yous uck and thats y ur not.", BUT,

if I was a mod I'd ban each an every one of your sorry asses for everything you've told these poor people about the show.

Mods, do you think we can start a thread that's designed specifically for talking about FMA as a series, and making it a rule to not talk about any future references in the episode talkbacks?

I mean sure, it's the same basic concept of spoiler tags, but people have to be less inclined to visit the thread if they know its going to have every spoiler of the series rather than just seeing a black box in front of them when they scroll through the thread.

I'm sorry everyone, I understand your situation. I've tried to make everyone I know watch the series just so I have someone to talk about everything with. It sucks, cause you wanna discuss all the really cool shockers and so forth. But you're ruining it for these people who haven't experienced it yet. The experience of being surprised is half the appeal of the series.

I'm begging you all, please stop.

Oh, and Master Moron, in regards to your question of how they never knew he was the monster all those years:

One of the subtle differences in the 1st half of the manga compared to the anime. They actually DO find out he was the monster once their training is complete. In the anime they wait till they come back to the island.

You'd be surprised how many differences there are like that in the first half, in the SECOND half, dear god, it's like watching a completely different show. I haven't finished the last couple volumes but it's the closest thing I'm getting to new Full Metal since it's what I want so desperately.

COME ON YOU DAMN FANSUB OF THE MOVIE!! COME OUT ALREADY!!

Just so everyone know, all my spoilers in this thread are all made up for comical effects and nothing to do with the real show...

This is how the final episode happen. It's episode 51 and Ed and Al are trapped in a dimentional rift across time and space when they land in Jesus times and have to battle roman gladiators when thye accept Al as one of them until they think hes a devil cuz hes empty, and Eds all "NOOO!"

Then they go to the minimarket and buy some tomatos and Eds all like "It's pronounce TOM-ATE-OS!" And Als all like "No, brother. It's TOM-OT-OS!"
Then Greed pops out and is like "YOU BOTH ARE WRONG! IT's POTATOATO! (A cookie to whoever knows where that is from)"
Then Ed's all like "NOOO!! My VA sounds a little too old to do a 15 yearsolds voice, but its alright, but when they get the same VA to do the 8 years olds voice, It's just retarded!"
Then Greed starts going all pink. and Al is like "ARG!" and smashes him and Greed is all like "I must go and eat Honey Nut Cherios!" And Ed's like "I WON'T LET YOU!" And holds up a skull, but not the one your thinking of, it's a rabbit skull, and Greeds all liek "NO! TRIX ARE FOR KIDS!!!" And dies.

Then Envy pops out and say "MAHA!" and leaves. Then some man who I will not say the name of is like "I have killed all the rest of the Homincli and I also can't spell worth crap." then he implodes into a single atom. Then Envy comes back and Eats Al. And poops out normal Al and Eds is like "YAYS!" Then Envy eats him and he explodes and Ed falls out in Al's armor and his body is gone and is all like "Oh man." 51 episodes and still no solution." Thenb Al is like "Guess we have to wait for the movbie" "And Ed is all like you spell like crap." And gets sucked into Europe around WWII and then you hear a sound like "WAA WAA WAAAAA!"

THE ENDZ!
Nobody has topped or even comentend on my spoiler... I am so depressed...

I'd reply to one of the parts in your spoiler, but since it gives away one of the biggest "WHAT THE *#%@?!" scenes in the entire series, I'll let it slide only because it fits right in with all the rest of the nonsensical BS you pulled out of god knows where. lol.

And yes, everyone who actually read that spoiler, if you can decipher which part death is telling the truth about (sorta) you are a god.

Cause honestly, I SURE as hell didn't see that one coming.

You forgot the part about the XANA infected Metarex bombing all of Central only for the leader, Vegeta to be shot down by Hughes with a bazooka. This angers the great guardian Lugia who then throw all of nature out of balance until a blackhole opens up via Chaos Control and sends everyone back to the great age of piracy, the day after Gold Roger was just executed.

There's your bs spoiler for today. Now for a REAL one.

I can't wait until next week. Just who is that kid, because he looks an awful lot like one of the homoculi to me. I'm assuming the answers will be discovered then.
Probably because has a something he "borrowed" from one of the other characters. There, that was cryptic enough, right?

and then...
Ed and Al go to England in search of the Philosopher's Stone. And, as in thousands of fanfics, end up at Hogwarts. No Philosopher's Stone there, but they get caught up helping in a search for the Pharaoh's Millenium horcruxes that were forged in the fires of Mount Doom- making them triple-decker items of pure evil ravaging Tokyo. And then Ed wakes up. The end of episode 4 and beyond was all a dream. He looks in the mirror, seeing the reflection of a Karin mannequin instead of his own face.

Um, yeah... Riza looks good in mod: http://www.sonymusic.co.jp/Animation/hagaren/gallery/adh102.html
