I've been a Columbia House member thrice and once with BMG (which I just checked to see if it still exists, and it does :p).

I would say my overall experiences with both were good. A couple of annoyances, but I must say the customer service was very good and things were ironed out quickly. My biggest problem was finding music I'd actually want to buy. The initial selection wasn't always great and by the time I wanted to quit, it was quite a stretch to find anything (when your favorite genre is intrumental rock, that makes things a lot harder). In fact, I ended up letting my friends choose a few of them so I could be done with it.

There were always gems, of course, like some of my Joe Satriani and Steve Vai albums. I also discovered Yngwie Malmsteen because of Columbia House and took a chance on L.A. Blues Authority, Vol. 1, which is one of my most treasured albums. :)

Columbia HOuse no longer exists, at least not in music form.

I'd recommend it, it is a good way to get a lot of cds for cheap, even with their high regular prices with all the stuff you get you end up saving a lot of money, it is not really that "annoying" to go through it.

my only complain is it is limited to mainstream artists, but there are plenty of mainstream artists to use your membership to its maximum.

and by mainstream i am generalizing to big record labels, as many are not really "meainstream" but on big labels.

It does in Canada (http://www.columbiahousecanada.com/sa/ch/ca_homepage.jsp?club=10). :p There's an American music club, too (had to check first).

So which version are you talking about? An Italian one?
