Chelsea Forman, a reader of our site, wrote in to let us know about an interview with Seth Green in the Sept/Oct issue of Buffy the Vampire Slayer magazine (issue 11). Here's what the article said:
He's also gearing up to the return for a second season on his other creation "Robot Chicken." The irreverent stop-animation comedy series on Cartoon's Network's Adult Swim features dolls and toys acting out comedy sketches, with voices provided by top celebrities, like Sarah Michelle Gellar, Scarlett Johansen and Burt Reynolds.
"We are going to start in January," Seth reveals. "We've been working really hard on the show and the response from the fans has been enormous. We really, really appreciate that everybody gets the joke. We are putting out a DVD in January to coincide with the premiere of the second season." That's great news!

It'll probably be $20 and that's reasonable enough.
But it annoys me that just because it has great ratings, it gets a DVD before Venture Bros. or Tom goes to the Mayor. They are way more deserving...

VB deserves to be released earlier.
On the other hand Brak Show should've been one whole collection. We can thank WB for that.

Since this is an Adult Swim DVD, we can probably expect that the DVD will include 13 episodes (even though since this is an 11-minute show, a 2-Disc Set could probably hold the 20 episodes of the First Season, but i digress)
My MAin Concern is whether or not the Episodes will be edited for legal concerns (Will Warner's legal hypersensitivity lead to Optimus PRime getting snipped out of the Pilot? Mario and Luigi being snipped out of Episode 3 (my favorite episode?)

VB deserves to be released earlier. That may be so, but the release of DVDs is often a promotional move. RC's DVDs will push the new season (and vice versa), while Venture Brother's DVD release date seems to be about the time new Venture Brothers would start up...

I sure hope they don't have to put up with any of the legal troubles with using all those characters. So many other shows can get away with those parodies, but RC does it a lot more often that those others ones do.

WHOAH WAAY TOO MUCH, let see how much it should be ...hmm.... I got some lint in my pocket and a penny....yeah thats a bit too much also.

Maybe Venture Bros. and Tom Goes to the Mayor would get great ratings if they were actually funny.
Maybe Venture Bros. and Tom Goes to the Mayor would get great ratings if they were actually funny.Venture Bros. is the best original AS has on. All the other ones are only farily decent or just plain terrible. The comedic timing on that show is great, unlike the others were alot of them are just completely at random and stupid.

Warner's just the distributor; Cartoon Network's the one who authors the DVD for release by Warner. Unless I'm mistaken, it's Cartoon Network who copyrights the DVDs and all their packagings.
It's just too bad that Cartoon Network sucks at choosing what to release on DVD.

Comedic timing doesn't help that much when the writing isn't funny.
Comedic timing doesn't help that much when the writing isn't funny. And random stupidity is ? VB is funny because its casual and it doesn't try too hard, unlike alot of shows on AS.

Would rather have VB personally. I've only seen one episode of each so, it doesn't matter. Either is good.

Venture Brothers is not funny, not in the slightest. In the pilot and first two episodes I think I might have laughed, maybe twice.
Robot Chicken isn't one of the funniest AS shows, but I can usually at least get a few good laughs.

I think the writing is a hoot! "Past Tense" was my favorite episode of the season and yet it won't run. :crying:

I had the same opinion of Venture Bros, sort of. I liked the pilot, but the first episode I saw (the one where they're in the space station) was absolutely terrible, and I completely gave up on the show. I saw another episode a few months later, and it was actually good, hell, great. The first episode or so is pretty bad, but it picks up so quickly. I would definitely say it's the funniest show on AS. If you can catch one of the later episodes, you might like it.

I think Careers in Science is the usual choice for 'worst' episode among VB fans. Though I still think the very first episode is fine.

You mean the pilot? Yeah, I actually liked the pilot AND the Christmas special, which is odd since everyone else on these boards think the pilot and the Christmas special are the worst episodes of the series. I guess I just like the 15 minute format better. I just don't think they have enough funny material to fill out thirty minutes.

No, Careers in Science was the 2nd non-pilot episode. The one with the problem light and phantom space man and the toy in the equipment and blah blah blah
Though yeah, a bunch of fans didn't like the pilot originally (I thought it was okay).
How could career in science be the worst episode?

Yeah, CIS was the one where they hit their stride. You're thinking of the Mexico one.

Bleh, I didn't like Careers much. Too many draggy parts and one-note gags. And the Mexico one was fine, especially for a first 'real' episode.
So

The Mexico one (was it Flight of the Monarch?) and Careers in Science were the worst two. Shame they were also the first to. As LFV said Past tense was the best episode.

Pffft, I'll take Home Insecurity or Tag Sale You're it over that anyday, especially on Tuesday's. But Past Tense is a fine episode nonetheless.

I myself think this is good news and I would like to see any deleted footage that should be included on the DVDs as extras according to what Seth said a while ago. I also wonder how the commentary tracks wil be and what the menus and cover art will look like? I will most likely be picking this DVD up and I can't waite till Season 2!

I'll take "Eeny, meeny, miney... Magic" and "The Trial of the Monarch" for the win, please. I can't remember much about "Past Tense", which is a pity because I remember enjoying it muchly.
"Careers in Science" is probably the weakest of the season, I'll give it that. But I'd still rather watch it than the complete Robot Chicken. Of course, I'd rather watch Tom Goes to the Mayor too.

the only extra this dvd needs is a big old gallery containing a nice picture of every figure/toy used in the episodes :)
To derail this derail, Rabi you need to change your avatar, I never see the damn panties until I look hard at it and frankly you imposing your sexuality on me offends me.
To derail that derail, the episode with the pirates was the weakest.

Where do you get your avatars from anyway, Rabi?

Robot Chicken's coming out on DVD? Cool. Maybe it won't have cries of Jesus or Christ bleeped out and it'll show some pieces that weren't shown on CN's version.
