Click below for a story about some of the potential downsides of having static electricity as your superpower.

Two thoughts on this:

1) How could someone not know that the carpet they were walking on was catching on fire as they walked on it? (Sure, static electricity isn't exactly the first thing that would spring to mind, but if melted plastic and scorched carpet followed me whereverI went, I'd start to think that maybe I was causing it somehow. Just maybe.)

2) I'm waiting for someone to make a 'fashion police' crack. I really am.

Well I have been shocked by 110W 220W and even 360Watt but never40,000-volt. Damn:sweat:

WTF...I've never heard of anything like this before. I once saw a news report on TV about spontaneous combustion of humanoids...maybe this is a possible explanation.:ack:

Wow...that's really strange.

Well...all I know is is to never wear a woolen shirt and a synthetic nylon jacket together, since it'll cause something like what's in the article. Plus, it's tacky.

I submitted this to the Darwin Awards. They said it was near impossible that he could contain so much electricity in just his clothes.

Ah, but voltage is easy to build. However, amperage gets to be trickier. This guy must have had some amps to back up those volts, meaning the wattage he was throwing off was enough to do damage.

I submitted this to the Darwin Awards.Don't you typically have to die to get those?

Well, he could get an honorary mention.

Awesome.... so Wool shirts and Nylon jackets are the secret ingredients for the Tessla Death Ray.

Diabolicle.

The funny thing is, I REALLY want to try this now :D

Maybe not wearing them, but figuring out some kind of mechanism to continuously rub two items like that together to see what kind of electricity I can get up...I'd definitely like to see some spontaneous combustion.

Step:2 Go nuts:p
Step3: repeat step 1.

You know... except for that whole "Almost-bursting-into-flame-thing" that's pretty cool. I Wonder if someone could get the "Ernest goes to Jail" lightning power?

Heck, I know about that. I used to spend long car trips rubbing my head against the seat and listening to the crackles.

I want "scorching carpet marks" and "spontaneous combustion" level static. Enough to explode something.
