Islands Magazine picked the 5 best islands to live on, and one of them is from Thailand (my country). Here's the list:
1. Isla Mujeres, Mexico
2. Koh Samui, Thailand
3. Exuma, Bahamas
4. Hvar, Croatia
5. Vanua Levu, Fiji
For more details, here's the article from MSNBC (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8670220/).

Why do people fantasize islands as remote, tropical paradises? I can never understand that.
To me, there are only three islands I want to got to:
Mindano, Phillipines
Hawai'i, Hawaii
Honshu, Japan

I'd like to visist the Isle of Man myself and survey the progress of the Manx revival movement. Tynwald Day might be fun, in a weird way.

Islands are overrated. Resources are limited, and more expensive than they would be on a continent, since they all have to be imported; islands are very weak against ocean-based storm systems too. Also, in the case of a natural or man-made disaster, getting off the island may prove very difficult, if not impossible.
I prefer to live on a continent, in a mid-sized city, that has a college, manufacturing, and tourist center. :p

I'll stick where I know best: The UK. I'd probably die of heatstroke in those other countries :p (Apart from the Croatian one, that might be nice to visit)
