"We liked Paranoia Agent but had a feeling it wouldn't do well."

Ew. Think the advertisers like hearing that? Seriously, this is a high profile channel. I'd hate to see the sponsors start turning away like that.

"We don't care about ratings in the 5 AM hour."

No wonder Milk Chan and Cartoon Planet are going there. Guess it's the new fanserving "set up your VCR or Tivo" hour.

And this guy who keeps interviewing people on GATV....a black guy with a bit of a lisp trying to make anime sound cool. And talking to the whitest people while doing so. Everytime he speaks my anus goes inward.

AS can air TV-MA now
First few Eva episodes will be uncut
Lupin and Case Closed at 5 and 5:30 will be replaced by Super Milk Chan and Cartoon Planet (or was it Captain Planet >_>), and the shows at that block will be rotated occasionally
AS has talked about possibly airing Naruto (and a few other anime, like DBZ) uncut, while Toonami still airs it cut
They have one new show that they can't talk about yet, which is the subbed show mentioned before. Since Funi also has a few things they can't talk about, and it was revealed they have Beck, it's still looking possible
Eva will be aired in that timeslot to try to get buy with as much as they can
Paranoia Agent was aired because the guys at AS really liked it, even though they didn't expect high ratings for it

Such talks would usually end in "no."

10-11 pm ended up serving such a need better.

People, don't believe a word of that sentence he typed. He's just daydreaming.

Also why on earth would Adult Swim ever air Beck? It has absolutely nothing to do with the type of programming Adult Swim airs, and no, that's not a convincing argument for it TO air. Whatever they're airing could be ANYTHING, from ANY number of distributors. This forum is terrible for mongering rumors that have no substance and then changing them into "90-99% certain fact."

He got a few comments correct, but I'll rephrase some for accuracy.

AS can air TV-MA now. Anime? Maybe. It's looking good though because this comment was in response to how Eva will be handled.
AS has talked about possibly airing Naruto (and a few other anime, like DBZ) uncut, while Toonami still airs it cut. This won't happen though because they don't want kids to grow attached to a show, only to find out it's on later and then watch an adult version.
Eva will be aired in that timeslot (12:30 Thursday Night) to try to get by with as much as they can.

If a show like Naruto is airing at TV-PG, an Adult Swim airing is redundant anyway.

Enlightening interview. We may see End of Evangelion yet.

Well so far if Naruto aired on AS, that would just mean some of the blood would be put back and we'd get some swearing. That is kind of a waste though. Hmmm, wonder what the secret subtitled show is anyway? This Beck thing or something else?

Uncut series I doubt will happen...it would be more profitable to show new anime rather than uncut old ones like DBZ...

I love how she "loves" everything...

That's the reason they seemed to get the Eva movies to begin with anyways. Because there's no way in hell you can understand the movies without having seen Eva to begin with.

DBZ and Naruto uncut on Adult Swim is a bad idea, and like Beatdigga said with TV-PG ratings, would they really need to? Also I'm pretty excited for EVA mostly because I've only seen the first four episodes and want to see more episodes. Also, I've always felt if it was coming to Cartoon Network it would definitely be better on AS than Toonami.

Naruto, judging by the 20-something episodes I've seen, is losing very little with TV-PG. The "uncut" difference would be like with Big O, but less. And they wouldn't have aired Big O uncut if they hadn't been setting up for Big O II.

Agreed, speculation needs to be viewed as speculation, not as quasi-fact. I mean, there are a million different series and films (remember, a lot of good anime flicks are sub-only) that for one reason or another might fit on AS. Beck's got music that the AS staff would probably gel with, but they've run Escaflowne: The Movie, so maybe they'd run the series subbed (not that weird an idea cause it was Ocean and Ocean doesn't tend to do good work on series with 26 episodes or less usually.) Tokyo Godfathers and Millenium Actress are both from a director AS digs, and they are both sub-only. GitS:2 is sub-only as far as America is concerned. Gunsmith Cats is better subbed than dubbed IMO, and if that's the mentality, there are a billion shows that could be possible, atleast if we don't take the age limit too seriously. As such, the speculation needs to be taken more as a grain of salt, especially in this case. It cuts in way too many ways to be called in any direction at this point.

It must have been awkward how he kept on asking if they have any new shows besides Evangelion when they clearly don't have room on their schedule for any new shows right now...
