I wasn't sure if this is the right place for it. (The FAQ isn't very clear on where in-between topics go)

Anyhow, I have a copy of volume 1 that has a slightly smaller case than the other three volumes, and it has the word "Geneon" near the bottom of the side of the case (the others don't). Is there any particular reason for this? Can I get a "normal" version of the DVD with the collector's box?

Don't worry. You're in the same boat as everyone else. All copies of Volume 1 have the Geneon and Pioneer logos on the bottom of the spine. the Pioneer logo was there because Volume 1 was released in 2004 when Geneon was trying to give the company name change a transitional period so as not to confuse people. The Genenon placed on the side was rather redundant considering the Geneon logo was already at the top of the spine like all of their other releases. I'm assuming they realized the error of placing the Geneon logo down there and removed it for Volumes 2-4.

Also, every volume had varying sizes and types of DVD cases. Volume 1 had a reverse push, volumes 2 and 3 had an elenth hour, and volume 4 had an amaray. All DVD cases vary in size from one type to the next and this isn't at all unusual for Geneon who does this a lot. Supposedly the varying sizes of cases used for their release of Chobits left many people unable to fit thier DVDs inside the box without a lot of effort.

If you really want everything to fit in exactly, it's rather easy to find blank DVD cases nowadays. You can even get a 10 pack in Office Depot or Best Buy.

Hmm... Strange. 'Cause my DVD cases are all the same size and type. And I bought the vol. 1 w/ box. It has the second Geneon/Pioneer logo, but other than that, each case is exactly the same throughout. Fits in my box perfectly.

Factory defect, perhaps? Otherwise, I'd probably just get a blank DVD case as Duke mentinoed. Should work fine.

Yeah I have a few DVD cases like that with one case being different from the rest(Ikki-tousen, GITS, Gunslinger Girl)

Don't worry about it, it's more trouble to make it it match
