Damn...that's one short interview...

That it includes ample usage of the N-word pretty much guarantees it will catch considerable flak this fall.
Ooooh. "The N-word." Teehee, how naughty of you, TVGuide.

"Fall's Edgiest New Show Is... a Cartoon?"

Y'know, after 5-plus years of South Park and Family Guy, you'd think people would learn.

I suppose not.

Nipples?

"Tienshin, that's a terrible word! Nipples..."

I've been reading alot of the old, newer, and latest Boondocks and find it all pretty funny, so I'm looking forward to this. Not that I don't mind them taking more risks either. If this doesn't give WS the ability to use the TV-MA for shows that are really TV-MA and not just relabeled repeats of the VB, then nothing will!

TVMA-L in other words.

Well, the theorized contriversy that Boondocks TV was supposed unleash is assured now, especially if CN gives it the 10pm slot on Sundays rather than the 11pm slot. They don't even have to be satirical or otherwise sharp, though I'm sure that's just going to be plenty of extra kindling on the fire. However, all that should be a ratings boost to the block, atleast intially. If the show's any good, it'll even keep those gains.

I don't think AS will allow MA rated shows before 12 AM (the MA rated Robot Chickens are being conveniently skipped). That, or they plan to change their mind come October. Also they've never indicated that they're going to put it in the 10 PM hour so I don't know how that assumption even surfaces.

TVMA-L in other words. I don't know, would the N-word be L or D? Or both?

If I'm correct, I think it's okay for black people who are friends to call one another n****s, but they can't do it if they're angered at them and it's not okay if a different culture calls them that. so I don't really see the big deal if it's being used in the proper context, but it might not be. Can someone clarify if what i've said is right?

Also, Does anyone know what type of stories the show will have? it hasn't focused on characters since nearly forever. Also, do you think the anime style will attract more viewers or turn them away?

They don't bother with D on MA ratings, and besides, that's for sexual stuff IIRC. L is the suffix of choice, if they bother affixing one. They just give it a flat MA.

I doubt the anime audience will go for it. Comedy fans will find it eventually

Im not a fan of racial humor...or adult swim's original comedy

There's no such thing as TV-MA D. MA automatically implies that there's "D."

If I'm correct, I think it's okay for black people who are friends to call one another n****s
It's also ok when Selma Blair says it while being nailed in the ass by Robert Wisdom.

Finally, even though McGruder didn't hint at it as much in this particular interview, please stop saying the show will be harsh and/or controversial. It's not a controversial show! Controversy has not been created yet! It's generally a bad idea to create a show with the intention to piss people off and then promote it as a show that will piss people off. There's even that dumbass website www.citizensagainsttheboondocks.com . Stop it already! Show's become controversial via a fluke. Not because they're being promoted as one.

"Histeria! It's the show your parents don't want you to see!"

Remember when they used those exact words to promote it? A desperate attempt to get kids to watch a semi-education show?

I don't know, would the N-word be L or D? Or both?I know that the "L" stands for "language". But what does the "D" stand for?

That interview was good for a laugh. But not much else. The only thing I learned about the series was that its going to be an anime-styled show about black kids who say naughty words.
And the people at TV Guide should know better than anyone that Boondocks isn't the first American cartoon to use adult themes and content.

"Histeria! It's the show your parents don't want you to see!"

Remember when they used those exact words to promote it? A desperate attempt to get kids to watch a semi-education show? Yeah. But I didn't mind those tactics because, when I was a kid, those ads did catch my interest and made me want to watch. Besides, Histeria rocked so who cares if the ads were stupid? :p

Yeah. But I didn't mind those tactics because, when I was a kid, those ads did catch my interest and made me want to watch. Besides, Histeria rocked so who cares if the ads were stupid? :p Simple. A person who's making the point that the ads were stupid cares if the ads were stupid.
